Thanks for new thread @QuiteAJourney

Running247 · 09/02/2023 22:25

Thank you @QuiteAJourney

Just managed to go out for an evening with DH and it was such a welcome distraction from the impending news tomorrow. I have found round wine and curry a wonderful combo when it comes to the 11+!

Running247 · 09/02/2023 22:26

Should say red wine LOL!

QuiteAJourney · 09/02/2023 22:29

So nice to see so many known names already on this continuation thread. Let's continue with the usual supportive spirit.

Less than 20 hours and the wait will be over ... off to sleep now ... I fear that tomorrow is going to be a long day (or at least it may feel long!) and it will definitely be an intense one!

I wonder how many people will be following this thread tomorrow! Good luck everyone xx

MomFromSE · 09/02/2023 23:20

thanks for the new thread and good luck!

Pollypocket81 · 09/02/2023 23:50

Good luck for everyone tomorrow! I think I'm going to run out of phone charge quite quickly with all my email checking!

Nordicmom · 09/02/2023 23:57

Must admit I’m a bit nervous now .

Nordicmom · 09/02/2023 23:58

Good luck to all !

UKUSMum · 10/02/2023 06:07

Good luck today everyone! I am so appreciative of this group. Thank you to all for being so open and supportive throughout. Massive well done to you and the kiddos for getting through the process. I know that the DC of everyone on this thread will do brilliantly no matter what happens today because of all the care, concern and kindness you all approach this process and each other with. Amazing to have this support. Thank you.
We should hear from all our schools today. We’ve had one rejection so far (no at interview stage). It was gutting and I’m truly nervous today - hence not being asleep right now! DD is the only one in her school applying to 11+ which has been hard for me but wonderful for her. Good luck to those doing it alone and those doing it alongside their classmates and friends.
hugs and solidarity today.

SamPoodle123 · 10/02/2023 06:08

@UKUSMum Thanks! I am also not able to sleep! I wonder how early emails will start coming out?!?!?! I had dreams about it.

Justlikingit · 10/02/2023 06:16

🤞

SWLParent · 10/02/2023 06:38

Also unable to sleep last night! 😴

SamPoodle123 · 10/02/2023 06:41

I was hoping to wake up to something 😂 Even checked the FHSS portal and no changes yet. I assume nothing until 10am. I am so impatient! But thank goodness today is the day! I am nervous!

HighRopes · 10/02/2023 06:48

Crossing my fingers for all of you today. I have a very vivid memory of this time last year, waiting for the emails. And for those for whom it’s relevant, waiting lists definitely do move, though differently in different years, they’re hard to predict.

Anno7 · 10/02/2023 06:56

Good luck everyone! What a journey it’s been, thank you all for sharing it and I really hope everyone gets the news they’re hoping for today- best of luck!!

Also couldn’t sleep! For those at prep school, what is the etiquette today? Can you message parents or talk about it on the WhatsApp group? It has been so silent, as if we aren’t all going through the same thing together.

I find this so odd. But I can understand the rule not to talk about it in school. But for parents not to be able to talk about it as well?!? I am glad to be able to talk to the two parents I know going through it (outside my school). But our school does not do 11+ so no one to talk to within the school lol.

There has been no talk in the WhatsApp group in our prep - nor I expect any.

The school has actively discouraged the DC from discussing openly given obvious sensitivities, and the parents have stuck to that steer as a group.

Of course, you may have closer relationships with specific mums, like we all do, and discuss with them on a one-to-one basis. But, personally, I think that group discussions on offers, rejections, etc, tend to be neither useful nor healthy.

And yes, I agree with this, not to discuss on the parent whatsap groups....but with parents you are friends with.

As per my previous message, I think that there is quite a difference between speaking with parents you are close to and posting it in a WhatsApp Group. I agree that speaking with parents that you are close to is to be expected (human nature, after all). To post in a group of people that you may not know so well (including the circumstances / challenges that they face) is quite different.
