Looking forward to continuing the journey together!

WL for IPS. DS didn't like it at all so it's not a bad thing.

Vista123 · 10/02/2023 16:40

@Notskiiing (ps we actually are skiing!) A long story and covered on another thread, but admissions staff not known to be the politest/ most responsive , initial exam was way too many questions in too short a time and most came out looking shell shocked, process was a bit factory-like. Probably bears no relation on the wider school however. Congratulations to everyone with a IPS offer.

LoveMyADHD · 10/02/2023 16:40

Vista123 · 10/02/2023 16:27

I think that the admissions staff at Ibstock are going to email and then run (away from their phones/ screens) bearing in mind how poor their admissions process has been so far…..Not impressed.
ps if anyone is throwing an offer for Harrodian back into the pot, please do let me know. We have some other offers but my DD was turned down prior to interview at Harrodian but would literally chew her own arm off to get a place there! I don’t care that she’s not on the WL and will still ask in weeks to come. All info gratefully received!
pps huge congratulations for everyone on this thread- both DC and parents, whether you have offers (yet) or not. We are all Hunger Games survivors!

Harrodian is renowned for not following a process 😉

we know kids who got in the middle of academic year.. really worth speaking to Head

good luck x

Full house for us and two scholarships so v v happy - and proud of DS, a naturally anxious child, for keeping his head when all around him including me were losing theirs. Congrats to all with places and crossing everything for the WLs.

Notskiiing · 10/02/2023 16:43

It's no from Ibstock for us. It was our first choice - we are walking distance and have lots of friends there with happy children.

I think lots of IPS offers will be released (know it's a back up for many) but then IPS must over offer significantly to counter this.

NellyCortado · 10/02/2023 16:44

@Trickleg - wonderful news! Very well done to your DS

Nordicmom · 10/02/2023 16:47

Wooohoooo🥳🍾!!!! It’s one more final YES for DD from St John’s our first choice !!! Was expecting the email tomorrow so when DH just got home and told me and DD it was a fab surprise. I had just told DD about St George’s and she was happy but convinced she wouldn’t get St John’s and she someone else that she thought was doing better than her got WL ,how would she know that yet I don’t know . She has zero confidence and can’t give herself any credit . DS is still kind of like that at 18 despite doing brilliantly . I hope she’ll become more confident as she gets older

Vista123 · 10/02/2023 16:48

@Notskiiing I think that a lot of people
will release Ibstock offers so hang in there and contact them again after half term. Many have it as a back up and it’s slightly awkward location (for many) will hopefully help you.

Daydreamscometrue · 10/02/2023 16:57

@Notskiiing was it a no or waiting list for IPS?

Notskiiing · 10/02/2023 17:00

A straight no! But I thought they only took 200 or so through to second round so the academic difference couldn't have been huge. DC always very good at interview and group assessments too

Nottoolongtogo · 10/02/2023 17:03

@Notskiiing i heard it was around 600 going to second round, so for 80 places it’s still going to be tough! Sorry to hear :(

momomamiko · 10/02/2023 17:03

It is a wrap for us and a happy one too! I have news of 5 offers and a WL to surprise my DC with when he comes out of the exam - he will be thrilled!

Iam so proud of him for persevering - it has been quite a journey if I may steal it from @QuiteAJourney :)

Ami01 · 10/02/2023 17:10

We got a no from LU, just makes that first choice of Hampton Boys an easier decision as LU would have given us a lot to think about. We will be releasing St Georges and the WL for KGS on Monday.

A note to all, thanks for this forum for the support and the information as always, this is our second 11+ and a very stressful time. Our eldest DS is at St Georges and first time around we were not sure how to make decisions and if these were the right ones, now looking back he is Year 9 and loves it, and it is definately the right school for him he has grown overall so much in the past 2.5 years, and Hampton certainly feels like the right fit for younger DS.

Good luck to all and well done to the children, crazy that they have this pressure at 10 years old!

QuiteAJourney · 10/02/2023 17:13

@momomamiko very happy to share!

And it is a wrap for us too! Cannot be happier and prouder of my DD!

What are your other options @Notskiiing?
I was talking about walking to school with DD and her friend the other day. They both said they liked getting public transport as it made them more confident travelling around London independently and it also gave a bit more of a separation between home and school.

Trickleg · 10/02/2023 17:28

I’ve asked this on the other thread too, but does anyone know if Trinity are doing an 11plus offer day? DS loved the school but could really do with testing that journey [I know that the school hasn’t moved since we applied, but it can’t be ignored as a factor - it’s a significantly longer journey than our other choices]

NellyCortado · 10/02/2023 17:33

@momomamiko what fabulous news for your DS to get after today's exam. Hopefully makes up for the cruel timing of today's exam!

DS has just received Ibstock and St John's offers too. We have a clean sweep, apart from Harrodian wait list and not getting through to second round at Emanuel (in case this context is helpful for anyone applying in future, as you REALLY can't predict these things). Feeling elated but drained.

I have followed so many individual journeys on this thread and I am so grateful that we have been able to share this rollercoaster ride and support each other.

Especially thinking of those with disappointed DCs this evening and hoping they are able - in time - to reflect on their resilience and achievement in getting so far in the process. xx

elevenplusmum22 · 10/02/2023 17:46

Congratulations to everyone with one or more offers!

To those lurking without offers, do not despair. Things will move and new opportunities arise.

To those on WL, also please do not despair. Despite talk of exploding offers, over offers etc. there is often movement even for “super selective” schools.

I’m sure everyone’s DC’s have done their best in what can be a very brutal process - depending on the target school.

Wine time.

Magnoliasunrise · 10/02/2023 17:48

Wish I'd seen this thread months ago would have helped me through the nerves!! Hoping everyone gets their choices. We got a no from G&L which I was gutted about but DD not bothered, but happily a yes from IPS, PHS, LU, LEH and Harrodian. Tough decision to make as DD and I will probably think differently 🤔

@Magnoliasunrise congratulations! Fabulous set of schools. what is your first choice?

alltheleaves · 10/02/2023 19:08

knopka · 10/02/2023 11:33

What a relief, we have offer for both DS's at 10 + and 11+ at Emanuel.

@alltheleaves is Emanuel your top choice or are you waiting for something else?

@knopka we only did Emanuel 10+ as it was just about DS joining the same school as his sisters. Hopefully to him the process was all laid back, with endless "it doesn't matter, this is just the practice run", but we're thrilled! Really happy with the school so far, really glad DS can join early as he doesn't love his primary.

Magnoliasunrise · 10/02/2023 19:20

Thanks @Workhar I really loved G&L so gutted about that but I know its been a very tough year and I'm absolutely delighted of course with the offers - I'm torn between PHS and LEH but DD loved LU and IPS, already declined Harrodian as I've been in the WL situation before and I know how awful it is. Are you happy and opening the wine tonight? I think we should all give ourselves and our DC's a big hug.

Yes, definitely. Celebration time. Congratulations once again everyone

Rivermarsh · 10/02/2023 19:32

Jumping on to get a feel for when people might release offers. We have many WL places so reliant on things moving. Congratulations on the results here - it seems so many have 5-6 offers which is an amazing achievement but also indicates WL should shift significantly

underthesea3 · 10/02/2023 19:36

We will be releasing Reeds and Radnor tonight and then probably KGS and KCS by Monday. We got our top choice so keeping that one obvs. Amazing news for everyone on the thread and am positive the WL will move significantly as lots of people will start committing to their top choices v soon. Best of luck all and WHAT a journey 🤯
