SW London Private and Grammar - applying for year 7 in 2023 (part V)

Very interesting. I just checked for Putney and FHSS...both still say applied. I dont remember if there is a portal for G&L? Does anyone know?

@SamPoodle123 @Trickleg ours was Mr Hitchcock enjoyed hearing about a particular activity during the interview. Definitely a lovely touch!

There were only two schools were previous posts mentioned exploding offers. One was Claremont I think the other was PHS.

I will be checking it daily from now on! LOL. Although, I assume no point tomorrow as it probably wouldnt be updated until Monday the earliest (still wont stop me checking tomorrow lol)

@1forward2back thanks! Yes, three offers in now (just a back up offer still outstanding but not concerned about that now.) Its lovely to get validation that all the stress and effort has been worth it!

The first two offers both include scholarship offers too (one academic and the other all rounder) and its the Surbiton scholarship we are waiting on. Whilst the scholarship offers are wonderful, they aren't necessarily the deciding factor for us. Logistics, culture and DD's preference will come in to play too. Also sadly none of DD's friends got in to Surbiton but they all did for one of the other schools so that might be a factor too? (But not for my DH and I, lol!)

We received our Surbiton pack in the post too. No academic scholarship but we weren’t expecting one anyway! Although one can hope!

Would people say that those who are usually successful at Tiffins Girls (our first choice) would usually qualify for an academic scholarship at Surbiton?

We have two open apply records, one says registered (to be updated on Friday) and one says waitlisted. The waitlisted one was updated about an hour before we had the associated email.

That tallies with our experience - we have one file for an offer that we rejected that shows updates at same time (give or take 1 hour or two) that emails took place. We have 2 other files open with schools that use OpenApply... they don't show anything, despite DD progressing to stage 2.

@EweCee wow! You must be so proud to have the two scholarship offers! What’s an all rounder? Is that with academic and sport? I can’t remember what your other two are - was it epsom college?

I love that your user name is basically my state of mind! We’ve applied to LU, Emanuel, Halcyon International and Maida Vale School. I have a kind of unconscious mental block wrt the schools we are still waiting to hear from. Can’t seem to let myself think about them really critically until we have an offer in hand. I’m probably less keen on Maida Vale (one of my son’s favourites, though). The others are all contenders.

Our open apply portal for GHS was only updated after we got out letter. So I guess it depends on the school admissions department.
