DD said that edexcel higher was "a piss easy paper". Hopefully that means she did well.

SquishyDuckedUp · 13/06/2022 11:34

@Rollergirl11 Edexcel higher. There seems to have been quite a few children that missed it

Stradbroke · 13/06/2022 11:39

Thanks. I think DS is likely to have missed the last question as well if it was not obvious.

Rollergirl11 · 13/06/2022 11:42

Thanks. DD did Edexcel higher. She didn’t mention it so I don’t know if she saw it or not. @Stradbroke DD found it hard but she seems to be in the minority.

Phew! Just asked DD2 about the last question and she saw it.

Just hope DD1 did as well but as she's gone into a Geography revision lesson it will have to wait.

Us too. Most of DC's friends thought it was difficult too. Not all apparently saw the last question either.

Nard75 · 13/06/2022 12:20

DS2 did Execel Higher Maths paper he said it was the easiest of the 3 papers that he did.

Fizbosshoes · 13/06/2022 12:23

Dd said maths had gone well, she's said that about all the papers, its the one subject she felt confident about even though she has no interest in doing at A level!

PeekAtYou · 13/06/2022 12:26

Ds found Edexcel paper 3 much better than paper 1 but not as good as paper 2. He's aiming for a 6 so it might be the topics that came up. He has no clue about the 2 blank pages then the last question thing. He said that was probably the foundation paper so I agreed with him and let it lie but I think he hasn't seen the last question

NicolasSarkozysCumDumpster · 13/06/2022 12:52

When do your DCs finish exams?

CornishGem1975 · 13/06/2022 13:31

AQA Higher here. DD said it was okay. She said she didn't answer the histogram questions but she said she answered pretty much everything else. It's done now! Took her out for lunch and now she's revising for Geography and Media tomorrow.

LouisCatorze · 13/06/2022 13:51

@NicolasSarkozysCumDumpster glad you found the paper good. DD did that one too and said it was the easiest of the three, although there was one question (on a trapezium) which she said she had no clue about.

I won't throw DD's maths exercise books away just yet though...

Dixiechickonhols · 13/06/2022 14:02

AQA higher Maths today easy according to DD and friends, they are worried will be high grade boundaries.

Princessdebthe1st · 13/06/2022 14:21

DD said AQA higher maths went “really well”. Was able to answer all the questions and felt confident when leaving the hall. That’s maths done now until she starts A’level maths in September.
Biology, history, chemistry and Spanish writing to go this week. Temperature forecast for Friday is 32 degrees! At least the Spanish exam is in the morning. We are also dosing up on anti histamines and steroid nasal spray to keep the worst of the hay fever at bay.

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 13/06/2022 14:25

Not quite the same, but has anyone seen the problems with one of the Welsh exam boards getting the advanced information wrong for a range of A levels. Sounds familiar.

LouisCatorze · 13/06/2022 15:15

I saw something about that @Womblesaremyfavouritefood but can't exactly recall what. There was a bit in The Sunday Times (or possibly BBC website) about the AQA geography 2 paper inserts (maps) not being colour-blindness accessible.

PaddingtonPaddington · 13/06/2022 15:31

DS home after AQA higher maths which was ‘good’ and OCR Business which was ‘straightforward’ so not much information there. This was the last day with a double exam, 5 GCSEs now finished and 6 exams to go. OCR Geography paper 3 tomorrow morning.

legosnowqueen · 13/06/2022 16:35

Wishing you all the best for your challenging week @Silkierabbit

I've been in Manchester overnight after Ed Sheeran. Control freak me found it really hard not being there first thing this morning to check DS had calculator etc. Of course DH is perfectly capable & all went smoothly including DS finding the Maths paper good & perhaps surprisingly noticing the last question. Business this afternoon also went well although DS said again that the paper had a blank page then a question overleaf...why do the exam boards do that?? (Rhetorical question).

A clear day for revision tomorrow, then the un-favourite biology on Wednesday, closely followed by History & French on Thursday. Even in Yorkshire the temperature is predicted to be 26 degrees on Friday so I reckon that will be a well-deserved afternoon off for DS. DH is away for the weekend but our Ukrainian guests will be here & will be very pleased it's warming up 😀

Lightsabre · 13/06/2022 11:30

Ds also said the last question was hidden away on the back page and he nearly missed it. Worth 5 marks too. This was Edexcel. Why do they put a blank page in! He felt it was the easiest of the three but we'll see.

? My ds did the Edexcel higher paper this morning and looked at me like I was mad when I asked about blank pages - he said there weren’t any, and it was obvious when the last question was, because it was on the back page?? So where were these blank pages? How could he have not noticed them?!

Walkaround · 13/06/2022 16:51

He also said you know when you have got to the end of the paper, because it says End of Paper at the end!

Nard75 · 13/06/2022 17:05

@Walkaround DS2 also did execel higher paper and he didn't see any blank pages either.

IThinkIMadeItWorse · 13/06/2022 17:17

DS didn't say anything about blank pages just that he missed the instruction to turn over to the back page (also Edexcel higher). A silly mistake, oh well, hopefully it should mean he doesn't do that on any of his remaining 8 exams! He has lots more Maths to come with Statistics GCSE and also Additional Maths (which is his last exam Friday 24th afternoon) then he is planning to do Maths and Further Maths A level in sixth form.

Stormchaser1502 · 13/06/2022 17:40

OCR higher maths here. Pretty happy with the paper apparently. Ticked maths off now! Phew!

Naem · 13/06/2022 17:47

Nard75 · 13/06/2022 17:05

@Walkaround DS2 also did execel higher paper and he didn't see any blank pages either.

Well I tried ot gently ask DD about blank pages (also Edexcel higher). GIven this was after she had come in and said it had gone really well, better than the other maths papers, I didn't want to deflate her by saying there might have been an extra question on the back that she missed, just said various people were thrown by there being blank pages in ithe exam She also didn't remember any specifically, but she did say that whenever they do mocks, they have these blank pages in which is apparently because of the "machines" that are used to print the real things, and they give them to them like that at school (and she didn't approve as it was such a waste of paper and the school didn't have "machines" and could have printed them as normal). DD as you might have gathered is a bit of a save the environment freak (we had whole issues because she didn't and doesn't want to print out practice exam papers because of the waste - but luckily DS has a brand new laptop in preparation of going to Uni in September (he took a gap year) and that has a pen, and she has been doing past papers on DS's new laptop with said pen - otherwise we might have had no past exam papers done at all!).

So DD claimed that she is well used to blank pages in the middle of exam papers, and she is sure she checked everything and checked she had found all the questions. So maybe some of them were printed with blank pages and some weren't, or maybe DD and your DS2 were just accustomed to there being random pages in the middle and didn't think twice about them, and didn't treat them as blank but as "machine pages".

Fireflygal · 13/06/2022 18:09

@Naem, Good on your dd for her awareness. I'm looking for something similar rather than printing paper.. what does your ds use? Is it a surfacepro?
