@cheninblanc my DD struggles as well, we will be overjoyed if she achieves grade 4's. At least it's over and done with now. I'm so proud of my DD for her work ethic, she really does try - puts the time and effort in. Just a waiting game now for two months, wishing our girls those grade 4's.

Silkierabbit · 23/06/2022 19:14

Congrats to all those finished now and their DCs and sending love and strength to the rest of us and DCs getting through tomorrow and / or Monday. DD just did AQA physics higher today and said it went very well and thought she got between 80 and 90% and she finished early. She said the y11s doing double science let off the fire alarms at school when they had finished disturbing the triple exams but they were allowed 2 to 3 minutes extra but she did not need. She said school also had to make sure was not real.

She now has 2 left and says she has a migraine from fire alarm. She had a day before with a migraine as well with two. Just told her to take migraine meds and drink but not easy and she has 5 hours of exams tomorrow as 1 is 3 hours, FSMQ in pm and its stats in am. Have ordered a pizza from Papa Johns and she has gone with DH to pick it up and looks a bit brighter. Mr Floof has been really hyper so I have been hyper kitten sitting plus meeting with LA for ed psych / Head of Stat Ass for DS and I did DS online English lesson. Will be glad when last exam over tomorrow for DD and last chemo on Monday so can focus on DS and really looking forward to Cornwall.

Thanks for all the lovely, kind messages.

So sorry to hear you have cancer ChicagoCubs and that its stage 4. I am also on the cancer support thread and have posted over there now but hoping you can defy the odds and stay with your son as long as possible.

Princess So sorry to hear you had cancer and thanks for the nausea tip. I am lucky that I rarely get nausea, terrible neuropathy but little nausea though lower steroids increase the nausea. I have a stash of anti-sickness tablets. Good luck with 8 DCs.

MrsScrubbingbrush · 23/06/2022 19:47

That's it - we're done!

DDs are home & exhausted so we're having a BBQ tonight. Not quite the right weather but it's dry & warm where we are

They're off shopping tomorrow for holiday clothes. We're off (easyJet permitting) in a few weeks for long postponed holiday in Turkey. We've booked an apartment with its own pool so no getting up early for sun loungers.

Hope you all have a great summer and maybe catch up with you on 25th August!

Chicagocubs · 23/06/2022 19:54

Thank you @Silkierabbit ❤️. Wishing you lots of luck for your last chemo.x

LouisCatorze · 23/06/2022 20:08

@Chicagocubs really sorry to hear that you are also experiencing a tough time with a cancer diagnosis. Again, wishing you the very best and unMumsnetty hugs. I bet you can't wait to be reunited with your DS at the weekend - have a lovely time.

DD quite grumpy this evening. Certainly not upbeat as we'd expected her to be with all exams now finished.

Fireflygal · 23/06/2022 20:23

@Chicagocubs, Wishing you strength and hope you have a good outcome. I did face something similar and was one of the fortunate ones so fingers crossed for you.

I'm so glad it's over. I've gone through exams periods multiple times with other dc but this has felt way more drawn out and much more draining as a result.

QueenMabby · 23/06/2022 21:00

DD has been on the PlayStation online with friends most of the afternoon. We bought him a new PS5 controller as an end of exams gift and he's making good use of it already!

We have textbook return next week so my aim on Saturday is to clear out the exam detritus and help ds sort and log his textbooks. I wonder how many missing ones I'll have to pay for!!

zighead · 23/06/2022 21:30

@QueenMabby that's a good idea about logging the text books. My DS has an unbelievable amount to take back to school in two weeks time. Honestly don't think he even looked at 75% of them. I really hope they don't say that some are missing.

Our school did that with DS, but by the time DD came along, it was strictly electronic textbooks only, so nothing to return (although that said, I had actually bought a copy of the science and maths text books for DS, because he was lugging them back and forth to school and his back was really hurting and there didn't seem any other solution, so I bought ones for home so he could keep the school ones in his locker - which meant we had them for DD as well when the text books went electronic. Which is also why I am thinking somebody might well appreciate a third hand, reasonably tatty copy)

Silkierabbit · 23/06/2022 22:43

Thanks Chicago

Dd has 2 exams tomorrow and bought a yoga mat tonight.

Thinking of those of you who are going through so much ❤️

Humbled by your strength x

NameInUseAlreadyAgain · 24/06/2022 06:39

And that’s a wrap!

and DS starts a job next week on a whopping hourly rate !

happy happy days

QueenMabby · 24/06/2022 06:55

@zighead - school have helpfully given us a list of books by subject so I just need to tick them off. He has to get the list signed by each teacher as he hands them back!!

LouisCatorze · 24/06/2022 07:32

Text books are an unknown phenomenon at DD's school. Haven't seen one school text book since DC1 left school! At least it means there's not a special trip required to take them all back, only to find one lurking in the darkest recesses of one's home months down the line as happened for DC1. By the time we found it though the syllabus had changed and it was out-of-date, so it didn't ever get back into school I'm ashamed to report.

Silkierabbit · 24/06/2022 07:34

Good luck to all those with exams today. 2 left here, stats am then 3 hours fsmq pm then done.

Not the greatest night. Dd said migraine from kids setting fire alarm off yesterday evening, said meds and drink and see how are then she improved to go out with dh to fetch pizza and yoga mat, which Floof has acquired. Then heard her being sick in night though she said just excess water and will go in. I also felt sick and overheating took another anti sickness and eased but will be glad when today is over. Mr Floof has also been knocking all her pens off and sitting on all her revision. He has been quite hyper yesterday knocking my robin over twice, playing moutball and ribbons, leaping 1 to 2 metres at any sign of food and jumping on our pet rabbit once. Very purry and cute though he did at least sleep last night.

legosnowqueen · 24/06/2022 08:51

@Silkierabbit hope your DD rallies & does well today.

Good luck to those with exams today.

With one exam to go on Monday, DH has tested positive for covid today. He will be banished to the spare room & I just hope that DS doesn't get it. In a house with a shared bathroom it's best endeavours always...

Silkierabbit · 24/06/2022 09:21

Thanks Lego DD left and is in stats gcse now. Looked better than last night.

Hope your DS and you can manage to avoid covid and hope your dh recovers soon.

IThinkIMadeItWorse · 24/06/2022 13:07

Oh dear @legosnowqueen hope your DS avoids catching it and DH does not get too ill.

DS said stats paper 2 went well, really not sure how he will do as he has only been taught by us at home. He has to go back to school for FSMQ (additional maths) this afternoon. I have just found out that the FSMQ result will be out on the same day as A levels but school haven't said anything about getting the result then. I expect they just wait and give them on the GCSE results day (school doesn't do A levels). Hope your DD is ok in her exams today after her migraine @Silkierabbit thanks for the cute cat picture :)

Silkierabbit · 24/06/2022 17:07

And we are finished and both went well.

Good luck to those with Monday still to go and hope today went well for all with exams. Floof now off to the vets for vaccines

legosunqueen · 24/06/2022 18:58

Thanks @IThinkIMadeItWorse @Silkierabbit

Glad it went well today @Silkierabbit & thanks for the Mr Floof spam - he's so lush...

Chicagocubs · 24/06/2022 19:42

I spoke to my DS and he is very happy with how the FMSQ went today. Well done to everyone and have lovely weekend.x

Thank you all for the good wishes.xx

Silkierabbit · 24/06/2022 22:08

Thanks Lego

Glad FSMQ went well for your DS Chicago

salsamummy · 25/06/2022 20:03

Ds finished Thursday when we found out FIL is on end of life care. DS is away doing Duke of Edinburgh and not home from school until next Saturday when we pick up. DH is going up to school to tell him about his grandfather and if he would like to see him.

coffeeandbiscuittime · 26/06/2022 13:00

@salsamummy hope you and yours are ok .
@Silkierabbit hope the remainder of the treatment goes well - you always sound so upbeat and positive. I work in an acute assessment area for people having side effects following treatment for cancer so I know it's tough - have a lovely holiday.
My 2 have certainly let their hair down this weekend. Well deserved. Now the wait until results days and then the UCAS clearing for DD 1.
