Chemistry was ‘fine’. It’s one of DS stronger subjects but not taking for A level so that’s it finished. 3 to go and next up is OCR History - making of America tomorrow morning.

Silkierabbit · 20/06/2022 12:02

We have chemistry now done but dd still on way back so no news and also a bit grumpy as village pub playing music until 12am then up at 6am. Then hist, phys, stats and add maths one a day until Friday. And 11th chemo today. Ds having to stay home as school keep losing him. Not great.

CornishGem1975 · 20/06/2022 12:06

Chemistry - AQA Higher Combined for us this morning. DD said it was good and better than paper 1, which is a good sign as it's one of her chosen A levels.

Rollergirl11 · 20/06/2022 12:07

DD said Chemistry was better than the last one. I think she’s just glad she never has to do it again! Now she has a few days before Physics on Thursday. Almost done!

Gosh, DD came home a bit stressed from her Chemistry exam. Apparently the invigilator ended the exam 15 minutes early. When she heard time was up she froze for a second then turned her head & looked at the person beside her. Then the invigilator told her not to look around, so she was too scared to say anything. The other invigilator in the room didn't notice until people were filing out the room. The HOD knows so I guess its just wait and see what (if anything) happens. Roll on Thursday, I can't wait until this is done and dusted.

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 20/06/2022 12:23

Chemistry was 'horrid'. Papers 1 and 2. Trying to forget about it.

MrsScrubbingbrush · 20/06/2022 12:27

@shazshaz that's dreadful. These poor kids have had enough problems the last couple of years without incompetent invigilators.

Lightsabre · 20/06/2022 12:53

Ds felt Chemistry wasn't too bad, a couple of questions he thought were tricky. That's Chemistry done now thank goodness.

Rollergirl11 · 20/06/2022 12:56

@shazshaz that’s awful! How many of them were sitting the exam?! I don’t understand how this can happen. The end time should have been written up on the board!

legosnowqueen · 20/06/2022 13:44

@shazshaz that's not good at all.

Chemistry ok apparently. DS has been revising Physics for a few hours but is going to meet mates in a couple of hours. I'm not impressed & have told him. His rationale is that he has 2 full days to revise Physics, whereas my thinking is that for these last 2 subjects he has a real opportunity to revise hard & push up his grade...I'm going to let him go out but have been very clear that I expect a different attitude in the run up to History next Monday which is an A level choice. It looks like a rainy weekend which will help - today is glorious!

PugInTheHouse · 20/06/2022 13:45

DS said he thought the combined higher paper 2 was hard but felt he did OK. He said both papers were pretty tough compared to any past papers they have done.

I have heard so many incompetent invigilator stories this year, totally unacceptable. I have sat many exams as an adult also and never witnessed anything other than very good invigilators who seemed super organised.

QueenMabby · 20/06/2022 13:50

DS said chemistry was ok. Could have been better but also could have been a lot worse was what he said. Edexcel iGCSE here.

Like many others just history and physics left now.

whenwillthemadnessend · 20/06/2022 13:56

There has been a shortage of invidulators though so I'd imagine they are less experienced or new to it.

Fizbosshoes · 20/06/2022 14:01

DD report was "not too awful for chemistry tbh" which I take as quite positive!!
Just physics to go which I'm sure will not be as positive! (Although it will at least signal the end of exams!)

Please call the EO and complain / explain immediately. That’s shocking. Same happened with my DD on an earlier exam - invigilator said it started at 1.08 and gave an end time obviously 20 mins short as it started at 1:28. My DD complained they - didn’t believe her (invig changed during the exam) EO had to be called and after some toing and froing - they were given the correct amount of time.

IThinkIMadeItWorse · 20/06/2022 14:20

Oh no @shazshaz how disappointing and stressful. Hope your DD can put it behind her quickly and the school can sort something out.

CornishGem1975 · 20/06/2022 15:28

DD said food was the worst exam she's ever done. She said she revised loads and she did but she said it wasn't the right stuff. She's not planning on taking it further so hopefully she'll scrape a pass as she nailed her practical.

Stormchaser1502 · 20/06/2022 15:38

Triple higher chemistry here AQA.
dd said wasn’t as horrific as the first paper but still not nice at all.
Shes gutted as revised a lot and needs to follow it thru at A level

Dixiechickonhols · 20/06/2022 15:42

Stormchaser1502 mine sat that and said it was ok but again felt the advanced notice misleading and school had focused on topics that were not on and glossed over things that were on. She’s not doing science A levels though so just needs to survive physics. Picked her prom dress up today.

This is a duplicate post so we've removed it.

LouisCatorze · 20/06/2022 15:55

Yes, DD found it hard too. She's going all out for physics, thinking it's the one she stands the best chance of getting a decent grade in (based on the first paper).

chocolatenutcase · 20/06/2022 16:04

My DS sat food and said it was ok but that could mean anything. He said there was a 6 or 8 mark question on osteoporosis. I think that's hard for gcse if he's got it right. Its taking the illness and working backwards to what deficiencies cause it and what a diet should therefore contain. However knowing him it could have been completely different 😂

NameInUseAlreadyAgain · 20/06/2022 16:53

He’s applied for about 20 now and so I’m pleased he’s got two

however we are now ‘training’ him on answering the phone properly and also I keep saying ‘hi are you xxxxxx interested in the job’ etc at random times. He’s so quiet and morose yet if you ask him to talk about fortnite he becomes animated ….. sigh
