Two today over so this week is done, phew. History and French writing both went very well, was not expecting French writing to go well. French reading and listening were fine but her speaking she had a panic attack and asked them to stop and then they said not allowed to restart. She thinks she will still have a 7 or 8 overall though in French and she said it will be a lower grade if a 7 but still fine. Economics is the other weaker one as she started that half way through and then decided to take 12 and 1 level 3.

Next week physics, chemistry, stats, history, all fine and level 3 maths which has been self taught and she still has quite a lot of it to learn. 3 days to go though Floof did not play in the day so think he will be hyper for her. Lovely to hear all the cat tails.

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 16/06/2022 18:12

History went well. Phew. Now out with friends until late, so no more revision until tomorrow afternoon I think. Next is the dreaded Chemistry on Monday.

StColumbofNavron · 16/06/2022 19:01

DS1 said history was ‘fine’ <sigh>

Did some probing though and he got very chatty as it was migration which is a great topic (also my own area of historical expertise albeit in a very niche part of historical migration). He said he hadn’t really revised the Angevin Empire which came up but said he remembered enough to write a decent answer.

He is not only looking at A level but BA history too so needs to do well. Well, a 6 I guess.

Fizbosshoes · 16/06/2022 19:09

I have only had contact with DD via WhatsApp so far and she said French was "good" . She said earlier that writing was usually one of the better elements but she felt like it had been a long time between exams (and listening or reading - I can't remember which - was apparently awful) so I'm pretty sure she did go over some stuff this morning.
Chemistry and Physics next week....we're nearing the finish line!

We have 2 moggies. DD is their preferred slave but in very hot weather we barely see them. I think they go and find a shady spot in the jungle garden.

legosnowqueen · 16/06/2022 19:31

DS's verdict was History good & French Writing 'better than expected' (although expectations for the latter were very low so could mean anything - but at least it's over). He went straight out with friends after a coffee & a snack & I'm fine with that. Tomorrow he has a Chemistry tutor session in the morning & he'll then spend the day with his mates, pick up a school Teams session (pre recorded) at the weekend & study at the weekend.

Our nervous lady rescue cat Layla is rarely to be seen during the summer but will sleep with us at the beginning of the night. She's a beauty though & so sweet-natured!

IThinkIMadeItWorse · 16/06/2022 19:43

I am going to need more cat pictures if people keep talking about their moggies (other pets also acceptable)!

Naem · 16/06/2022 20:12

Well at least the clash is over. This was the one I was dreading, because it was 2 and a half hours followed immediately by French writing. They did move them from the hall (very hot) for the first exam to the library (cooler) for the French writing. She ran out of time in the first one and therefore reckons she will have got very little for one 9 marker except an introduction (very obscure subject), rest was OK, but we need to discount 9 marks from the off (there are always two 9 markers and one 12). French writing was OK except she couldn't remember the word for really - then remembered it as soon as she was talking to me, which was a bit annoying. Hopefully OK. At least I now feel we have caught up to the rest of you with only three more exams to go (although we don't finish until the 27th).
Thought she would want a lie in tomorrow, but with tomorrow being so hot, she wants to get up super early to walk a husky that she walks regularly for some people we know. I am afraid we are catless, but we do have a (very geriatric now) hamster. We keep being surprised that the hamster is still with us, as while we got her from a rescue home, and they weren't exactly sure how old she was, she had had at least one litter before she came to us, and that was over two years ago. It is DD's hamster, and I have kept worrying that she would wake up and find her dead on the morning of an exam (although DD is very prepared for this, and we know she is very old in hamster terms). But so far she has kept surprising us.

MrsPnut · 16/06/2022 20:19

This part of our menagerie, also have three geckos that live in DD’s bedroom and study.
Sherbs, our cat is a geriatric half Maine Coon who is incredibly docile and gets carried about like a baby by DD.
The dogs are typical pugs, Velcro dogs with funny personalities.

Viktor the naughty Cavapoo...although credited for getting DS through lockdown, especially that bleak January to March 2021 period which was so tough on the teens

Loving the photos of the gorgeous pets. Will try to upload some of ours soon.

Anyone's schools got proper contingency plans for transport strikes next week. We got an email that suggested special arrangements for the other school years (later start), but just that Year 11s and 13s are expected to be in on time. No offer of help to facilitate them getting in!

Good luck to everyone sitting exams today! What a scorcher, particularly given that a lot of the older schools don't have air con

legosnowqueen · 17/06/2022 07:17

Long-suffering Layla plus another of Viktor!

Viktor looks like a real bundle of naughtiness. Poor Layla 😁. Both gorgeous!

Love all the pet photos too!

Rollergirl11 · 17/06/2022 07:43

Loving the photos. Adding one of our tail-less Silver tabby Casper!

History went well yesterday and DD has Spanish this morning that she can’t be bothered with!

I had a nightmare yesterday. I was involved in a collision with a motorcyclist while I was trying to park outside my house. He was going way too fast and skidded and toppled when he tried to stop. Thankfully he’s okay and got away with cuts and bruises. But there is a National shortage on hire cars so my insurers can’t provide me with a courtesy car while mines being repaired which is a total pain. And what with the train strikes next week not quite sure how the kids will be getting in to school! 🥺🥴

On the upside DH has literally just managed to secure two tickets for Harry Styles tomorrow in his company’s box at Wembley. Haven’t told DD yet but she will be beside herself!

Rollergirl11 you've had a rollercoaster of a 24 hours.

Hope you're not too shaken up after the accident, and good that the motorcyclist is okay.

Wow that is quite some coup getting tickets for Harry Styles tomorrow. Your DD will be over the moon!

And sorry to hear you'll have difficult getting your DC into school next week. We can only hope for a last minute strike reprieve.

zighead · 17/06/2022 08:05

Yikes. Hope you’re not too shaken up from yesterdays collision. How annoying about no car being available for you to use.
Very exciting about the Harry Styles tickets, what a lovely surprise for your DD.
Just about to take DS to his Spanish exam, he can’t be bothered either!

legosnowqueen · 17/06/2022 08:05

@Rollergirl11 how terrifying, glad you & the motorcyclist are okay, something like that shakes you up though.

Massive kudos on the Harry Styles front though, what a great surprise for your DD.

Hope Spanish goes well.

Aren't the pet photos gorgeous!

IThinkIMadeItWorse · 17/06/2022 08:09

Loving all the pet pictures - thank you for sharing and brightening my day! DS is still in his PJs this morning as he doesn't have to be at school until quarter past nine. It's going to be really warm today but then rain all afternoon tomorrow forecast here - british weather! Think we are going to have ice creams after DD gets home from school today.

Hope that those affected by the trains find a good solution for next week and you all have a good weekend.

LouisCatorze · 17/06/2022 08:10

I love the way the cats all look so grumpy! It's impossible to second guess their moods from their general facial demeanour!

StColumbofNavron · 17/06/2022 08:11

Spanish writing today… Spanish is a clear favourite here so hoping for good things for him. He has picked it for A level.

MirandaWest · 17/06/2022 08:49

DD also doing Spanish A Level and feels fine about the writing paper. She was thinking of interesting phrases and wondering whether she can get them into what she writes 😂
