Daughter found the Biology AQA (separate/higher?) tough going. She said all of her (brighter) friends in other school said the same. Anyway it’s done now.

zighead · 15/06/2022 14:56

I've not heard how my DA found biology Edexcel igcse this morning. Hoping it went okay. He will be home shortly from his Latin exam.
Good luck to those with exams tomorrow. Nothing here until Spanish on Friday.

zighead · 15/06/2022 14:59

DS has just text to say they were both 'fine'. He's just so forthcoming with anything and everything Confused

MrsPnut · 15/06/2022 15:18

DD wasn't too happy with AQA Biology higher but it's her weakest of the sciences.

She went to the art department for a while after the exam but has appeared home earlier than I thought she would be.

French writing tomorrow and some more time in the art department, then Chemistry, further maths and Physics next week.

I had a phone call moving my surgery next week from Wednesday to Thursday which is providing us with a logistics problem. Wed had further maths in the afternoon so she would have been able to catch the bus and have plenty of time, Physics on Thursday is am so we have been driving her in so she has lower stress levels.
Except I have to be at the hospital 75 minutes away at 7:30am so I need to see if her sister can change her work plans and take her in before starting work.

Thanks Lego. Exhausting work all this footballing.

Got a good from dd edexcel so that's good (we hope). Or she misread it all. Lol

DT this avo but not heard as I'm at work.

Bellini12 · 15/06/2022 18:03

DD has history then french writing tomorrow. Hate seeing her stuck in her bedroom yet again when the sun is shining.
She’s done about 2 hour’s revision total for French - it’s not one you can cram! The other subjects have taken precedence. Just praying it’s not hideous questions (and the advance information is accurate).

Silkierabbit · 15/06/2022 18:15

DD has French writing and History tomorrow but she has just put her summer dress on and gone out shopping with DH. History is a strong subject for her even with changing schools end y10 she still always get a 9 in that, French is weaker she said she was expecting only 70 in writing but not sure what its 70 out of. As long as she is relaxed I don't mind, just want to get through rest of them. At least Fri, Sat, Sun are off before 5 next week. Maybe chemistry, physics, level 3 maths, stats, another history not totally sure.

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 15/06/2022 18:23

Biology (AQA Higher Triple) was surprisingly 'ok', as was DT. It's turning into a bit of a joke - they say this after most of their exams, although there is obviously a huge variation in what 'ok' actually means. But at least they were cheerful. History tomorrow, but they're out with friends at the moment so I don't suppose much revision is going to happen tonight.

Then a break until Monday. All DC wants to do is sleep!

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 15/06/2022 18:27

... and according to my Alexa, it's 71 days until Results Day.

Silkierabbit · 15/06/2022 18:43

Yes the teenage one word answers are funny and I think they generally mean don't ask any questions I want to sleep / go on phone etc. And I get difficult then but I will have an 8.

But most of the time I get 10 messages about the cat on the way to exams and after exams and nothing about the exam.

Butterfly44 · 15/06/2022 19:26

@Womblesaremyfavouritefood yes I've got "good" after I've asked how an exam was. I suppose it's better than bad!!!!

Lightsabre · 15/06/2022 20:25

Ds Edexcel Higher Biology thought it was a difficult paper but said it went ok but not as good as paper 1. He hasn't done as much revision for the paper 2's so not a surprise.

Stormchaser1502 · 15/06/2022 21:02

I have the opposite here. The over analysing of every single questions! The counting in head how many marks she could’ve possibly got etc etc

daffodilandtulip · 15/06/2022 21:36

Biology done and went well. We've actually had the pleasure of her company AND an actual conversation this evening 😯. Two exams left and a very bizarrely timed leaving assembly tomorrow morning 🤷‍♀️

FFF2022 · 15/06/2022 21:36

I too just get fine or that was hard and then a discussion about grade boundaries. 3 more exams for one of mine and 4 for the other. Hot weather not helping as making them feel even more tired.

They thought biology was ok. Next exam is Spanish on Friday.

SleepyMc · 15/06/2022 21:40

French tomorrow and chemistry and physics next week. Feel our kids must all be exhausted- it’s been such a long slog.

daffodilandtulip · 15/06/2022 21:40

@Stormchaser1502 we have that too. I tidied her room the other day and found a list of the marks she thinks she got and she's graded herself for each paper 🥴

StColumbofNavron · 15/06/2022 21:48

Guess what DS1 said about Biology?

‘Fine.’

How on earth did you guess?

history here tomorrow and a good unit. Spanish writing on Friday then the two science next week. The end is nigh.

Fizbosshoes · 15/06/2022 21:52

SleepyMc · 15/06/2022 21:40

Yes thats what DDs got.
2 really tough ones to finish!

DD said she finished DT today with an hour to spare. I asked if she went through her paper and she said yes and she tots up how many marks she thinks she got. Then does again, being really mean about marks ...and then does a third time being quite generous! Apparently at least 1 student fell asleep in the exam.

ItWorriesMeThisKindofThing · 15/06/2022 22:36

Ha, Biology “fine” here too!

Definite cramming going on for History tomorrow though - he’s never been keen on the topic and really hasn’t revised it well. Spanish on Fri has been similarly ignored in favour of Physics and Chem.

Silkierabbit · 15/06/2022 22:36

DDs prep for 2 exams tomorrow seems to have been sticking on a summer dress modelling it to me, shopping with dh then asking if she could drink one of my archers and lemonades, drinking it, (I normally never drink but chemo plus gcses plus school losing ds repeatedly led to me requesting a drink) now parading around the house with the kitten over her shoulder. Mr Floof has been footballing away I told DD before he was amazing at football and today she said he is really amazing at football I did not believe you when you said it. Good luck tomorrow everyone.

legosnowqueen · 15/06/2022 22:39

@Silkierabbit Mr Floof does not disappoint! So fluffy...

DS picked up his Leavers hoodie after the exam today & wore it on our evening dog walk, it made me feel quite emotional about the end of an era & all that

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 16/06/2022 06:48

Good luck to those doing exams today. History today for us - Spanish Armada 'don't forget the date, its 1788 tiddly pom' and the Inquisition which makes me think of Monty Python.

CornishGem1975 · 16/06/2022 06:57

Nothing for us now until Monday. The end is near...!
