North / East London 11+ for Sept 2022 entry

Hi everyone, I may have missed it but cannot see a thread on this year’s 11+ for North London so thought I’d start one. Is anyone else waiting? Good luck everyone! And for anyone who sat the Forest exam this week, I hope it went well for your child.

Just found out DD has SHHS interview…!

From SHHS give any information about what would happen in the interview?

@Tello ours is a bit different, since we are currently overseas and the school kindly will organize an online interview.
They said it would be two interviews 20-25 minutes each, that no extra preparation was required and it will correspond with the results of her ISEB. Probably they will give her some math questions or maybe some text to read

Be two interviews but didn’t say what they would involve so I wasn’t sure if it would be a group exercise.

Congrats to others with SHHS interviews! Our email just said it will be two interviews of no more than 20 minutes each. No further details. But she has to be there for 1.5 hours so I’m not sure what they do between the interviews… serve more of the cookies that my DD raved about when she sat her exam there?! : )

How is the Interviews so far? mainly NLCS started Monday ...Similar to last year? English passage and questions based on that? how long was it ? maths questions, not too difficult but similar levels as maths test?

Did anyone get a date for the Habs interview?

The NLCS interviews are taking place. While a guardian is waiting, how does the guardian spend the time? Is there time to speak with teachers or tour the campus? Are these done in a group? Also, did any parent wait in the car?

We were at NLCS today. Parents were waiting in one of the rooms by reception. They had parents from the parents guild there who spoke with us and were available to answer questions.

Have just found this thread. DD also has an interview at SHHS. Does anyone know how many girls they are interviewing? I'm a bag of nerves where my DD is what will be will be 😱🙄

@Stressedmum2010 it is all quite stressful isn’t it! Best of luck to your DD. I would also be interested to know how many SHHS are interviewing… anyone?? I think last year it was all candidates (unusual year because of Covid) and other years I have heard just over half of applicants.

Thank you @purpleturtle1. Yes I know last year they interviewed all. But have gone back to previous years apparently. Though was told they do interview all on one day 😱. I know they only have 55 places which just seems so little. Congrats to all of the other DDs going for an interview next week. I guess it's only over a week until the results then. To others who have gone through this before do earlier emails mean a no or is it just pot luck. I hope everything gets a place at where they want x

Good luck to all the children. I'm just surprised after passing the exams, they might not get in on interview? I've see lots of lovely children standing outside the exam and just don't understand how they can whittle it down after this stage.

SHHS definitely not interviewing everyone this year.

@MissScotland do you have any idea how many they are interviewing?
@MrsDThaskala I have no idea how they whittle it down but I guess have too. Just don't get why they are at SHHS for an hour and a half?

I only know what I read here that it's 50-55 places.

SHHS is doing 2 interviews of 20 min. Wonder what the girls will be doing for the remaining of the 1.5 hrs.

How did everyones DD find the SHHS interview today?

My daughter will have it tomorrow, since we are overseas and it will be online.

My DD seemed to find it ok. She came out in fairly good spirits, said the interviewers had been friendly and I didn’t get the sense they asked her anything too difficult. But it’s hard to know isn’t it…
Does anyone know how many girls SHHS tend to offer to? I know there are 55 places available, but I think like many schools they’d offer a few more than that, to allow for people who take up offers at other schools..?

@Purpleturtle1 my DD came out happy. Loved the chocolate cookies. Said one of the deputy head interviewed her and said she gave mature answers. But then was like that's enough questions mum. I also how many they interview for 55 places and then how many places they offer?

We were there today too. Daughter said it was ok (she always says that). Told me a bit about the two interviews and what they asked.
I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of girls they had there. It felt very crowded. What are everyone's thoughts on SHHS?
