Trinity/Whitgift/Dulwich College 10+/11+ 2021

Hello,

as mentioned countless times, I found the previous years' threads very useful, so it is now time to start this year's.

DS sat the 11+ reasoning test at DC yesterday. He'll sit the morning slot at trinity and we are awaiting confirmation of assessment date from Whitgift.

DS is remarkably relaxed so far. I, on the other hand, am a little apprehensive about the next few weeks.

How are everyone else's DSs feeling before "the storm"?

@KillingEvenings

Which school sent this message?

KillingEvenings · 09/01/2022 12:55

Email was from trinity following the test

Just dropping in to wish you all good luck!

We went through this wretched process last year, the endless waiting for an email was painful, and after interviews, another lesson in patience, waiting for offers.

Rest assured, the emails will start coming through quick and fast and often only a few days notice of an interview slot. good luck!

jac108 · 09/01/2022 14:29

MrsHGWells can I ask, are emails only sent out if you haven't made it, or do they also send emails inviting you for an interview. Getting confused and anxious.

Wishing everyone Ds the best of luck

MrsHGWells · 09/01/2022 16:45

@jac108 Last year the schools emailed for all communications, next interviews including scholarships and offers.

Try not to be disheartened too quickly if you don’t make first wave of emails.

Interviews offers are often set in waves, based on various criteria some by surname, others by rank order score. Small groups are needed to manage the process in an orderly way. Keep your diary updated and close by.

As painstaking as it may feel now, email is swift and efficient ( and slows one to anxiously refresh screen for the nth time whilst boiling the kettle) rather than stalk the postie or panic with every phone call.

Of the three schools, DC were the only one to formally post the offer and email. T and W only emailed.

KillingEvenings · 09/01/2022 17:54

We haven't received real post (or packages!) since before christmas so very happy that they are coming by email

jac108 · 09/01/2022 18:09

@MrsHGWells thank you

Walkingtheplank · 09/01/2022 19:04

We went through the process (and the Whitgift/Trinity thread) a few years ago.

Trinity was more efficient with the emails, sending one relatively quickly confirming that an interview would be offered - but not the actual date. They do interview a high proportion of boys with interviews every day including many at a time on Saturdays so the process is quite quick.

Whitgift took much longer. If I recall correctly, we were amongst the last on the thread to be offered an interview and this resulted in a good academic scholarship - so the slow timing wasnt indicative of his ranking.

I remember it being pointed out by other parents that if a boy was called for a sports/music etc scholarship assessment (even prior to news of an interview) that he had achieved a high enough mark in the exam to eventually be called for interview.

Good luck all - it's a stressful time.

suchnonsense · 10/01/2022 09:22

Has anyone received an email from W yet to say that their son won't be interviewed? I'm working on a "no news is good news" approach, but we only decided to apply at the last minute so DS wasn't as prepared as he might have been! Would also be good to know if anyone else is still waiting to hear from W.

SW19mumKat · 10/01/2022 09:42

On Friday we had an email from W inviting US (!) to interview for 11+, as far as I know 3 of DS's friends haven't heard yet..

Goliathma3 · 10/01/2022 09:55

Nope, funny I called them on Friday and I was told the results are being reviewed by the Head, so I was quite surprised that some interviews had already been sent out :)

Goliathma3 · 10/01/2022 10:02

Btw does anyone know if there is a similar thread for Royal Russell and Cedars for this year please?

Paribus · 10/01/2022 13:39

Anyone heard from DC today pls? TIA!

August001 · 10/01/2022 13:58

@Paribus

Anyone heard from DC today pls? TIA!
Not yet.. I am getting more and more nervous. I was hoping to receive an email from DC before the school run.. Anyway, good luck everyone.
Paribus · 10/01/2022 14:33

Good to know we are not alone :)). Do you know if they email regardless of the outcome or will they only email those invited?

silver12 · 10/01/2022 14:37

Nothing from T and DC too.

silver12 · 10/01/2022 14:45

I think DC will be sending an email regardless of the outcomes. But T will send an email if you son has not done enough.
Good luck everyone

mimisilly · 10/01/2022 15:42

Hi, we also got the interview invitation from Whirgift today. So relieved!! I think they are keep on sending emails through out this week.

W1980 · 10/01/2022 15:45

No news my end from T or W. I’m hoping that with T no news could be good news…. the logic being it takes longer to individually call each successful candidate than it is to fire out a bulk ‘no email’- this is all based on the idea that they call the successful ones (as suggested in their email). Clutching a bit maybe - the wait does this to you!

Goliathma3 · 10/01/2022 15:54

@W1980 this is what I am doing too haha

Goliathma3 · 10/01/2022 15:55

Asides from that everytime my phone vibrates! My heart misses a beat

Itsallpurple · 10/01/2022 16:01

So tempted to call T myself! The wait is horrendous. Getting concerned it's not good news now...

suchnonsense · 10/01/2022 16:05

Not to mention the fact that I'm wearing my phone battery down at an alarming rate by constantly refreshing my emails (and checking the junk folder each time, "just in case"!).

KillingEvenings · 10/01/2022 16:34

does anyone have any current info on how to tell whether invites to interviews at D and T are for academic scholarship interviews vs 'regular' interviews. I know W are upfront about having a special enrichment day (DS1 did it a few years ago and really enjoyed it) but I don't know if DC or T do anything similar or if you just need to wait till offer day to see

Winifredgoose · 10/01/2022 16:37

KillingEvenings sorry I have no idea. Has anyone heard from Dulwich yet?? I rung them at 4 to check we would definitely be hearing today. They said it would be today. Should have asked them how late it could be!! It is awful waiting.
