Trinity/Whitgift/Dulwich College 10+/11+ 2021

Hello,

as mentioned countless times, I found the previous years' threads very useful, so it is now time to start this year's.

DS sat the 11+ reasoning test at DC yesterday. He'll sit the morning slot at trinity and we are awaiting confirmation of assessment date from Whitgift.

DS is remarkably relaxed so far. I, on the other hand, am a little apprehensive about the next few weeks.

How are everyone else's DSs feeling before "the storm"?

Went for T interview today. Confirmed by one of the admin staffs that 260 applicants for 10 plus, 110 was shortlisted for interview( I was surprised that over 40% candidates get interviews), there will be 80 offers plus another 15 on waiting list for 60 spaces. So I guess the chances of security an offer is almost certain.

Has anyone knew that how many applicants for 11plus T and how many went for interviews? Also how many on the waiting list? When will we know the offer?

@They will send the offers out on the 11th February. Unfortunately I do not know any of the answers to your other questions.

I don't know about T, but we were told that 700 sat the W exam. I assumed that this was just 11+, but could have been 10+ as well.

Silver, the head teacher of my child's school said that 50-60% of boys (from their school) who get interviews then get offers of places. I don't know the numbers though.

I was told W had 700 across the 10+ and 11+ , so maybe 500ish at 11+

I was told by Whitgift admissions that there were 400 applicants for the 10+.

Argh - the wait is killing me. Clutching at straws I know, but did anyone find out how many were interviewed at W for 11+ and how many offers will be made? I was told that fewer were interviewed than normal because of Covid, and it was definitely 700 applicants for 11+, but I wasn't brave enough to ask more!

Same here ! I do not know any firm numbers on interviews I speculated that maybe they interview half but that would be 350 interviews over 11 schools days , not sure if logistically that would be possible, 30 interviews a day? Maybe if they have 3 interviewers doing it, 10 a day? Maybe.,.

Offer wise if it’s like trinity it’s could be 2-1 maybe less. 350 interviews 240 offers for 120 places.

Again pure speculation but it be great if someone here had a more definitive idea???

My son did th Academic enrichmnent day at W for a possible academic scholarship and the said they were about 30 kids that day- they had two dates I think so maybe 60 were called for a possible scholarship? Noidea and cannot wait for the 1tth Feb!
Dulwich College nterviewd half but they already selected half from the firts round as there were two riunds plus interview. I might be wrong but I doubt they called 350 children for interviews...sound too many and too much work..

Dulwich college said they were interviewing 130 boys this year. This obviously doesn't include those who will join from DC junior school.

That’s interesting DC interviewing 130. I read they have around 70 places at year 7. I’m sure the need to over offer too so sounds like a lot of those interviewed will get an offer or possible waiting list. I can’t image T & W being much different in terms of ratios…

They said originally that they would interview 160, but on the day said 130 (unless they misspoke!) I think they have 80 places for 11+ entry with the remainder coming from the junior school.

@W1980 when we were there, they had three rows of tables in the main hall with I would say 3-4 in each row. Each table was a different interviewer so I think they did 10 at least simultaneously. I do think they interviewed 350 ish, that number was mentioned to us. And I think they over offer more than DC given their location and accessibility. The area they compete with is bigger. Just hoping on my part of course :-)

The tables were just for waiting BTW, not for the actual interview

@Gladwhenitsover - same for us (on a Saturday) - at least 9 interviews at a time, presumably all day. I read somewhere that W over-offer by 3:1 (because of the grammars as well as other independents) but that may be just rumour. You can drive yourself crazy with this!

IU guess we just need to sit and wait .. still a long way to go!
