Anyone else itching for tonight/tomorrow?

Were in Essex and DD passed 11+ in catchment for two grammars so we know it's option one or two but I'm still desperate to know- DD has her heart set on our first choice.

Her friendship group (and my mum friendship group!) have applied for four different schools as first choice so we're not worried about being with friends etc.

Dear admission lady I wonder if you can offer any advice. We applied via the Lewisham Admission portal on 26th October within the deadline. We received an email confirming the application choices and giving us a reference. Having received no email offer I logged in to the EAdmissions page to see if the offer was there. My login details were there but the application was not there and consequently no offer. I am really annoyed that there is no-one I can phone to speak to in Lewisham until Tuesday as they are not open on Monday. We don't know if this is a technical glitch and they have allocated our son a place or if the whole application has been lost in the system. He got two bursaries at two different state schools for music bursaries and worked hard to get these as well as doing the banding tests for both schools. I wonder if it is possible for his details to be lost despite doing the banding tests?

London here. DS got his 4th choice. Not happy and will now have to go on the waiting list.

Zinnia · 02/03/2019 15:41

@shimmysister what time did you check yesterday? If it was before 5.00pm the offer wouldn't have been there. If you got a confirmation email when you submitted the application all should be fine. Check your emails (including junk folder) again too as most people seem to have had their emails by now.

shimmysister · 02/03/2019 15:44

Hi Zinnia we checked constantly from 5PM yesterday onwards and it wasn't just that there was no offer, there was no record of the application. Thankfully we just got an email with an acceptable offer of his second choice so there is much relief here. I do believe there was a technical glitch on our account as everyone else in this area we asked was able to access their details.

Zinnia · 02/03/2019 15:45

Phew that must be a relief shimmy! Glad to hear it worked out OK

My daughter got into Tiffin ( first preference), but we are requesting waiting list possibility for Nonsuch due to transport issues. Any idea what scores were give offers at Nonsuch?
Thanks so much
Nadia

Shimmy we don't have any selective schools in our LA however our children who apply to other LAs still get their offer through us.

The fact that you have a confirmation email is your proof you applied on time. Hopefully it's just a glitch. If there has been an error - then they should give you what you are entitled to. They wouldn't stand a chance in appeals as 'the admissions arrangements have not correctly been applied'

Hello everyone..i am new on here so please be gentle with me!lol..has anyone received their school admission letter last week in Leicester City?..primary to secondary school?..i had mine for my daughter age 11 and she is on wtg list for her 1st choice but received a place for 2nd choice..she is upset as all her friends are going to the 1st chice school..this is due to catchment area and we are on the border but sadly 0.5km closer to 2nd choice school..anyone else going through this or have any experience? The only ground for appeal i have is “friendship issues”..i could do with some help as seriously contemplating an appeal?..thank you all in advance.

You can cite any reason you choose as to why you believe the prejudice to your DD of not attending a particular school outweighs the prejudice to the school of having to find room for an extra pupil, with reduced teacher time for each child etc, but just 'wants to stay with her friends' is almost certainly doomed to failure. Can you not emphasise how she and her old friends will still be able to meet up after school and at the weekend etc?

Chances are, that will peter out after a while, but hopefully not before she has made some new friends at her allocated school.

You did name the allocated school as the one you / she would like to be offered, should she not get a place at her first preference (it's a preference, not a choice), so there must be something about the school she likes?
