National Offer Day Waiting Room

Anyone else itching for tonight/tomorrow?

Were in Essex and DD passed 11+ in catchment for two grammars so we know it's option one or two but I'm still desperate to know- DD has her heart set on our first choice.

Her friendship group (and my mum friendship group!) have applied for four different schools as first choice so we're not worried about being with friends etc.

still waiting here (London). I thought I was very relaxed until this pm and now I'm really not! good luck all

formerbabe · 01/03/2019 15:38

In London too...can't take much more of the waiting!

4strings · 01/03/2019 15:43

We're on the waiting list - in 32nd position. We missed out by 400m, which is probably quite a lot. Last year she'd have got a place, frustratingly!

Echobelly · 01/03/2019 16:09

Glad I worked from home today. Got a letter that I saw had the words ''[DD] is joining at an exciting time for the school...' and was astounded when I turned it over to see the logo of our first choice. I did not think we had a chance (its catchment last year was 0.3 miles, we live 1 mile away)... well, I thought we had a tiny chance because they changed the criteria for getting in very shortly before the deadline in a way that favoured us, as they were going to offer more places n our postcode (which otherwise has very few secondary schools) but I still suspected not enough. Happily, I was wrong. It's an academy, quite small, very supportive and creative with great reports so far, so right up her street.

Just about to show DD the letter. She will be so thrilled - she had her heart set on it and was preparing to be disappointed. I think she often feels things don't go her way, but they have this time.

SW Herts results now out (got the email 2:13pm) and DD got our first choice. Phew!

Good luck to everyone on continuing interest lists / appealing.

Rockbird · 01/03/2019 16:52

8 minutes...

BarkandCheese · 01/03/2019 16:54

Got our first choice, there was never much doubt we wouldn’t, but it was still good to see it confirmed in black and white.

Monikape · 01/03/2019 17:01

Does anyone know what time the results are to be announced in London? Thank you.

GlomOfNit · 01/03/2019 17:01

We live in a semi-rural area here and our catchment schools are all in a town about 15 minutes' drive away. In rush-hour traffic it's more like 35 mins... and the school bus for it leaves at 7.30. Our actual local school (not catchment ) is five minutes down the road (though the school bus, because it goes round all the houses, leaves at 7.45). It's not our catchment school, plus it's the school everyone wants to get into. So that was our first choice and we didn't get it. We got second choice which is in a third town, again about 15 minutes away, but it's single sex which I was never keen on. I think we'll accept the 2nd choice place offer and appeal/go onto the continued interest list for 1st choice along with everyone else within a radius of 5 miles and see.

So regarding waiting lists and appeals - it doesn't prejudice an appeal for a school if you go onto its waiting list, does it?? And if you fail that appeal, can I presume you still keep your place on the waiting list for that same school?

Good luck to those still waiting!

formerbabe · 01/03/2019 17:01

In london....it's five. No email yet?! Anyone else...losing my mind

Popuppippa · 01/03/2019 17:04

London here - got first choice. So very relieved and DS is dancing round the room.

Good luck to those waiting.

Popuppippa · 01/03/2019 17:05

@formerbabe I didn't wait for the email. I logged in online and the staus had updated with a link to check the outcome.

onewhitewhisker · 01/03/2019 17:06

formerbabe can you log in to the system? I'm in London, just logged in and the offer was there.

formerbabe · 01/03/2019 17:07

Thanks... totally forgot that in my panic!

BrimfulOfChocolate · 01/03/2019 17:09

Pan-London/Surrey now up. We got expected 2nd choice.

Monikape · 01/03/2019 17:11

Thank you all. I just logged in and we got our first choice.

Vintagevixen · 01/03/2019 17:23

Log into the e-admissions system, London offers are out even though you may not have an e-mail yet.

valima · 01/03/2019 17:39

Surrey results available on e-admissions website. We got our first choice. Very happy and relieved!!

MumOfLL · 01/03/2019 17:46

London, DS got 1st choice - Grammar school too. So pleased. Good luck to you all.

Rockbird · 01/03/2019 17:46

Surrey here. Got first choice. Never really doubted it but so nice to know for sure.

Echobelly · 01/03/2019 18:59

DH's nephew got his first choice to (our second choice) - so I think both our kids have got the right school for them. And they're coming for dinner soon so we can celebrate together (and not have any awkwardness). Thus far it seems most people I know have got their first choice.

MrsWombat · 01/03/2019 19:03

Hope everyone got a result they are happy with. DS got his first choice. Grin

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 01/03/2019 19:29

1st choice, which was a Birmingham Grammar school and notoriously difficult to get into. Very very happy.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 01/03/2019 22:04

@JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam
My DD tried for the Birmingham Grammar, 5ways! I only know of one person who got in! A friends son! I am bloody proud of him as I know how hard it was to get in.
My DD didn't but she got into an outstanding school so I'm still happy!

Well done to your child 👌

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 02/03/2019 08:10

Iputthescrewinthetuna it is Five Ways my DS got a place at. I hear it was very difficult this year. Smile

Well done to your DD too, an outstanding school is an achievement and she must have passed her 11+ for you to have tried Five Ways so she should be pleased with herself too.
