Anyone else itching for tonight/tomorrow?

Were in Essex and DD passed 11+ in catchment for two grammars so we know it's option one or two but I'm still desperate to know- DD has her heart set on our first choice.

Her friendship group (and my mum friendship group!) have applied for four different schools as first choice so we're not worried about being with friends etc.

@pinkprincess1978

Same here, terrible school, none of our choices but I’d pretty much come to terms with it and had been realistic.
Please don’t feel you’ve failed, you’ve tried.

We have friends who moved out of the area to avoid this school but they are unable to sleep at night as are now in so much debt. They owe left right and centre and he is working himself into the ground. That’s no way to live either.

CuckooSings · 01/03/2019 07:03

Anyone else in Newcastle know what time we hear ? I've heard nothing yet and have to go to work soon and put my phone in a locker. I need to know!

babyseven76 · 01/03/2019 07:04

Still waiting.... Can't seem to get on the LEA website 😯😔 today's gonna be a very long day (with not much sleep last night) if we don't find out until 5pm! Anyone else waiting to hear in Walsall Westmidlands? 🤔

namechangedyetagain · 01/03/2019 07:08

Yay DS got into grammar. So pleased for him. Good luck to all still waiting.

LadyLannister · 01/03/2019 07:23

First choice here, but to be fair it was our only choice ( so not really a choice as such) as there are no other schools that are easy to get to from where we live. We were in catchment and the school always takes children from beyond catchment so no real stress about whether dt’s would get in. I’m really sorry for anyone who hasn’t got their choice this morning. Hope you’re successful from the waiting lists.

BertrandRussell · 01/03/2019 07:25

Remember- accept the place you’re offered, even if you don’t want it. Accept- then appeal.

maggienolia · 01/03/2019 07:39

Waiting here too...thankfully we have an older one at the same school so should get in.

Mabellavender · 01/03/2019 07:40

I’ve got a feeling that the email I used to apply I no longer have access to, it was my old iCloud email and I got locked out of it.

If I ring then will they tell me over the phone? My son is saying they find out today st school but that does t sound right to me.

Zoflorabore · 01/03/2019 08:11

Schools do find out but shouldn't disclose to children unless the children mention it first. Ds didn't get into his first choice school 5 years ago and it was his bloody 11th birthday and he was beyond gutted. We appealed with tons of medical evidence and still didn't get a place. We eventually moved him to a new school at the end of year 7 as was badly bullied in his allocated school.
New school wasn't doing too well at the time and I would never have chosen it first time round but he had 3 friends there from primary and after the bullying I just realised he needed to be happy more than anything.

School turned itself around and is now top in our borough. Ds has made best friends for life, has had the most amazing 5 years there and will cry his eyes out when he leaves in May as no sixth form and has to move. It has been pastorally wonderful.
He is expected to exceed all targets in his GCSE's this summer and is going to a top sixth form college.

To those who don't get your first choice, please don't despair. The appeal and bullying cost me my mental health and I'm still suffering years later.
What's for you won't go against you.

herecomesthsun · 01/03/2019 08:24

For anyone locked out of email, It might be possible to log into the local council website and check.

darkandtwistyinside · 01/03/2019 08:31

I'm in Lancashire and I've been checking through the night, no email yet and online it says they will be available today during working hours. Can't cope with the wait!

CuckooSings · 01/03/2019 08:50

Dd1 got her second choice which was our first choice. So she is a tad disappointed but we are delighted. Hope everyone else gets the news they want

darkandtwistyinside · 01/03/2019 09:01

Omg a few parents at school have got an email but we haven't yet. So nerve wracking

formerbabe · 01/03/2019 09:04

Anyone in London know yet? I'm so nervous!

KeepingTheWormsQuiet · 01/03/2019 09:08

London results don't come out until 5pm. We just have to wait until then.

runwithme · 01/03/2019 09:09

In Bexley and and nothing. Email due to arrive in the evening, so I am looking at the eadmissions page constantly...

HandsOffMyRights · 01/03/2019 09:09

just realised he needed to be happy more than anything.

Zoflora Flowers
So true. What a lovely parent you are and so pleased for your son.

formerbabe · 01/03/2019 09:10

Thank for the info.

Oh my god, I'm sure I'm going to spontaneously combust in the next few hours!

Zinnia · 01/03/2019 09:10

@formerbabe we can find out from 5.00pm by logging in, emails will be sent out during the evening. This is to stop people from going nuts and shouting at admissions officers on the phone. It's going to be a long day.

twilightcafe · 01/03/2019 09:12

Good luck, Gin and Wine to everyone who is still waiting.

formerbabe · 01/03/2019 09:12

Yes, I'm not surprised it's 5pm on a Friday. Let's people calm down I guess and mull things over on the weekend!

Need to find some good diversion tactics now to keep myself busy!

darkandtwistyinside · 01/03/2019 09:19

Just find out, she's got her 1st choice thank God for that

Zinnia · 01/03/2019 09:25

It's always 1st March so think it's just our bad luck it's a Friday this year! Congrats @darkandtwistyinside and everyone else with first choice, must be such a relief! And commiserations to those that didn't, hope it works out for you in the end. There's a waiting list thread up and running already if you need it!

babyseven76 · 01/03/2019 09:27

So got the email and tbh wasn't surprised she got her 3rd choice which is also a good school as it's in the catchment area and the 1st choice isn't! But will be appealing as 1st choice is a Catholic girls school and we are practicing Catholic so will see what happens. So not sure where to start with this appeal process though for a Catholic school and if she'll get in 🤔 I'm hoping someone on here will shed a bit of light on this one? 🤔 🙂

Eviecee · 01/03/2019 09:43

The appeal process will likely be the same for a Catholic school. Did you provide your child's baptism cert when you applied?
