For maths last year the Grade 9 boundary for AQA & Edexel Higher was 79% (189/240 for AQA & 190/240 for Edexel)

Cherryburn · 24/05/2018 14:05

brainmelt Grin DS said the last question was a killer. He managed to get part way so thinks he might have picked up a couple of marks for it but couldn't finish it. So well done to your DS!

mmzz · 24/05/2018 14:06

it wasn't 68% for a 9, it was 88% for a 9 in maths last year

slinkyme · 24/05/2018 14:12

Cherry that's the same question DD took time over. She thinks she may get one mark for it. Well done indeed brain to your DS. I don't think I've heard anybody else say it was easy.

hmcAsWas · 24/05/2018 14:29

"I really wish we didn't have to wait until the end of August for the results, the week leading up to results day will be hell!"

It does seem like such a long way off - but honestly I think a week or so after the GCSEs have finished we honestly will forget about them until perhaps the day before results day (at least I hope so)

hmcAsWas · 24/05/2018 14:30

Alexander as you have the details to hand, what was the grade boundary for a 6 in Edexcel last year?

Cherryburn · 24/05/2018 14:31

mmzz which board was 88% for a 9?! Alexander is right that it was 79% on AQA and Edexcel.

Cherryburn · 24/05/2018 14:33

hmc it was 40% (96/240)

LARLARLAND · 24/05/2018 14:35

Anybody know what a 7 was last year (igcse edexel)?

GallicosCats · 24/05/2018 14:35

thanks for the rubber concern. There was indeed a small one at the end of a pencil

Don't let them hear that comment over the pond...it might be misinterpreted.Grin

Maturity and seriousness, just what one needs in a thread like this. Wink

hmcAsWas · 24/05/2018 14:36

Crikey - thanks Cherryburn. DD should be fine then!

Cherryburn · 24/05/2018 14:37

LARLAR it was 60% for an A last year. 77% for A*. No number grades then-this is the first year.

LARLARLAND · 24/05/2018 14:39

Thanks Cherry I completely forgot that it was A*-G last year.

Sostenueto · 24/05/2018 14:57

RE paper 3 ethics was another OK and yes she didn't need to waffle. Centred on family I think dgd said that's all she said.
Dgd did the last question in the maths paper OK. It was a 3 marker before the end she couldn't be bothered to do properly because she wanted to check her work.Hmm

Sostenueto · 24/05/2018 15:00

Grade boundaries will definitely be higher this year even if paper is harder I think as this cohort supposed to be brighter than last year according to teachers I've spoke toHmm

sandybayley · 24/05/2018 15:00

Have now caught up with DS1.

IGCSE EdExcel Maths was 'alright' with a couple of 'tricky' questions at the end. He's aiming for an
8/9 and got a 9 in mocks.

No word on whether the rubber was required Wink

sandybayley · 24/05/2018 15:00

He finished and had time to check and correct.

Sostenueto · 24/05/2018 15:02

There was 1-9 for English and maths last year.

Sostenueto · 24/05/2018 15:04

Alexander right I thought it was 75% for a 9 so was only a little bit out. Maths I mean.

Sostenueto · 24/05/2018 15:06

Anyone had R.E today? Hope all exams went well for all.

mmzz · 24/05/2018 15:07

Cherryburn I thought it was both edexcel and aqa. That was just from emory. I'll look it up again.

sandybayley · 24/05/2018 15:08

@Sostenueto - it's the firstly year of 1-9 for iGCSE this year.

Sostenueto · 24/05/2018 15:11

Oh sorry sandybay thought it started last year across both GCSE and igcseBlush

mmzz · 24/05/2018 15:12

just checked edexcel June 2017 and I got it wrong. It was English Lit that was 88%, not maths. Maths was 79%.

Sorry for the confusion.
