Dgd talking about tybalt this morning in car wonderwine.

Theimpossiblegirl · 22/05/2018 11:26

Glad it was you Sost, that was worrying for a minute.

Teenmum60 · 22/05/2018 11:29

Dd back home ...mixed feelings higher marker question was really good on a character she knew very well and expected to be in the exam(40 marks) but she didn't think the 2nd question went as well and the 1st question was OK.

Wonderwine · 22/05/2018 11:29

That's good, Sostenueto Smile

Have realised that's Romeo & Juliet, and DS is doing Macbeth Confused - seems that was a question on Macbeth/Lady Macbeth and violence, which DS should also have been fine with.

LooseAtTheSeams · 22/05/2018 11:29

Sos I'm sure she wasn't very clear the first time on the phone - also sure she did just fine. I expect she's getting herself psyched up for geography!

Wonderwine · 22/05/2018 11:34

The problem with all the discussion on twitter/TheStudentRoom etc is that the smart cookies in Year 10 can check it out for next year's mocks Hmm

brainmelt · 22/05/2018 11:34

DS delighted after CIE English Lit!

CeeCeeMacFay · 22/05/2018 11:41

Macbeth was about how Macbeth/Banquo reacted to the witches and the supernatural.
Great Expectation was about Miss Havisham and being bitter.

Luckily for my ds we covered those topics recently and very thoroughly just by fluke!

CeeCeeMacFay · 22/05/2018 11:42

That was for AQA btw

sandybayley · 22/05/2018 11:46

@brainmelt - won't hear from DS1 until he's got out of geography but I'm encouraged that your DS was happy with the CIE English Lit paper.

Nettleskeins · 22/05/2018 11:48

I'm just joining in here for those who know me from the A level thread.

Dd sent me a text to say she was crying and "english was horrible" were her words...after the English Literature Much Ado and Dr Jekyll. Ds2 is about to come home and tell me about his AQA Macbeth and Christmas Carol. I do hope the supernatural came up. We revised it last night, at least I think ds remembered we did... I may have confused him further... And then dd has Geography. We revised infrastructure in cities this morning for about 10 minutes in the car Hmm

Ds still hasn't come home (he has study leave after exams) which is probably good news, as it means he is not desperately upset and is hanging around to chat to "other People". No phone in school.

Loose I was trying to explain about Christianity v supernatural in Macbeth last night, may have completely confused ds last night Sad

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 11:48

Well geography at 1 pm I think and she's got to go to physics lesson where he won't let them revise for geography because GE's still teaching the space topic! Yep that's right still teaching, not revising! Good job dgd used her head and did her own study on that unit.Shock

TheSecondOfHerName · 22/05/2018 11:49

Does anyone know what the (AQA) question on Frankenstein was?

DS2 doesn't find English Lit easy and has put a lot of work into it. He read the whole of Paradise Lost in his own time as context for Frankenstein.

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 11:52

Thought infrastructure would be paper 2 geographyConfused well what do I know, nothing! All I know its physical geography today.

HesMyLobster · 22/05/2018 11:52

DD just got home - she seems very happy. The Banquo question was very similar to an essay she'd planned in revision at the weekend so couldn't have been better.

She says the Christmas Carol question was more difficult, but she managed it. When she told me the quotes and comparisons she'd used I told her it sounds alike she's aced it! But she told be off for getting carried away! Grin

She got a 3/4 in end of yr10 exams, if she's pulled it up to a 5 or 6 we'll be over the moon!

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 11:53

Yes about monster and whether you should feel sorry for it thesecondofhername

HesMyLobster · 22/05/2018 11:56

Hi Nettles! Thought you might wander over here at some point! Grin
The Macbeth question was ALL about the supernatural so your DS should be very grateful!

CatherineCawood · 22/05/2018 11:56

DD reports that Frankenstein was fine, but the Banquo question she found a bit odd. Why would they ask about such an obscure character. She should know by know what with the carrots debacle in biology that anything is possible and the more obscure the more likely it is to come up!

Onwards and upwards to physics tomorrow afternoon.

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 11:56

Having a meltdown all of my own here ( I forgot to turn heating off when I went out as it was a bit nippy at 5 am)Grin

CatherineCawood · 22/05/2018 11:57

Second yes I do it was about how Shelly made the character into a sad character that the reader feels sorry for rather than a monster. Does that make sense. DD was v happy with that question.

Dickybow321 · 22/05/2018 11:58

Aqa macbeth made them analyse two characters and a theme simultaneously!

CatherineCawood · 22/05/2018 11:58

LOL Sos Grin Grin

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 11:58

Doesn't seem many DC did Romeo and Juliet?

mmzz · 22/05/2018 12:00

@Sostenueto I was just quoting from twitter. Not exactly a stellar source of reliable info. If your DGD said age differences in marriage then that's probably what it was.
