It was a fair assumption! You may be on the same boat as DH on your way home.

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 19:51

Banquo is trying to find Frankenstein who stormed off after massive hissy fit because he got frightened by witches. The police are no good they can't even find their own truncheons.. Romeo tripped over his flowering pump and Juliet is not going to obey her father anymore as she is now a feminist after seeing Romeos pump and realising if she wants anything she will have to do it herself!

goodbyestranger · 22/05/2018 19:52

Theimpossiblegirl I've been non stop vicarious May/ June exams since 2006. Entirely my own fault. I can't remember which year had the largest number of DC sitting exams at one time - but I have a hazy memory of five taking public exams one year.

mmzz we have those odd memories here too. They're absurdly useful for freaking people out with minor social details from decades ago but not always absolutely guaranteed to turn up trumps in the run up to exams (or now, in my case, remembering what it was exactly that I went to the fridge to collect).

DD4 is very mellow. I think she likes the relaxation of study leave in the balmy weather that we have at the moment and so far no exam has been too bad, minor irritations apart. Also she's not out of sync with her friends - I agree it's unnerving if others high five and you think an exam has been grim.

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 19:52

Goodness me Animal Farm still about? Its 54 years since I did that book!

Teenmum60 · 22/05/2018 19:55

Coming back Friday via Lymington - I have to avoid Gunwharf Keys for a similar reason!

RosieLig · 22/05/2018 19:56

He really enjoyed Animal Farm. He loves History so was really into all the parallels.

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 19:57

Chaucer, remember flipping Chaucer anyone? Lord of the flies was about too. War and peace......

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 19:58

Come visit me teenmum on East Coast!

Stickerrocks · 22/05/2018 19:59

Taking the scenic route then.

Tonight I have been stropping like a teenager. Why didn't I start to do my revision notes earlier? Why have the questions changed since last year? Why am I wasting time online instead of buckling down to freshen up on the subject I'm doing tomorrow? (Luckily I'm just taking the class & telling them how to pass - they have to do all the hard work!)

Sostenueto · 22/05/2018 20:00

Russian revolution, Snowball, Napoleon, blah, blahSmile

Stickerrocks · 22/05/2018 20:01

I bought Animal Farm a few months ago to re-read, when everyone was drawing comparisons between Trump & 1984. Luckily I avoided Chaucer by dropping English after O level (as you can all tell from my terrible SPAG in many posts).

beenrumbled · 22/05/2018 20:06

DS said English lit was ok. His was Macbeth and A Christmas Carol. He admitted he had been a bit anxious about knowing enough quotes!

He did say one of the lads fell asleep during the exam and had to be woken at the end!

6th form interview went well so he said today was a good day.

Business studies and physics tomorrow, another early morning wake up session at school!

Stickerrocks · 22/05/2018 20:16

Been as long as he wasn't the person on Twitter who found they had nothing to say about Banquo, because they thought they were murdered in Act 1 Scene 3, not Act 3....

Teenmum60 · 22/05/2018 20:17

@Sostenueto I am over in Norfolk next week but only for a day...

Crossing fingers toes and everything else for DD tomorrow she has really worked hard on Physics revision - one of her A level choices ...oddly enough always eager to do past papers on Physics..NOT so eager on subjects she doesn't like - but I guess its all about confidence.

TheSecondOfHerName · 22/05/2018 20:17

Or the person on Twitter who didn't know any quotes about Banquo or the supernatural, so made some up.

JufusMum · 22/05/2018 20:20

DD still grumping about Geography being off spec and now she's contracted a flu bug that's been going round year 11. Currently (supposedly) looking at Physics with a face full of tissues and lemsip capsules. She's just sent me out to get her a KFC Grin

Stickerrocks · 22/05/2018 20:24

DD has broken her racket strings and is muttering about having to get a new one pronto before work next week. More expense, but she must crack on with physics, Islam, maths, Inspector Calls & poetry before I let her near a sports shop.

Nettleskeins · 22/05/2018 20:30

Second GrinShock ds2 said he made one up so that he could put some words into Banquo's mouth. Something like "those women from another earth". We haven't dared check it, but it doesn't sound very Shakespearean to me Smile Luckily he remembered Avaunt Thee and Quit My Sight (to Banquo's ghost) He said he was very relieved he didn't have to write anything about Lady Macbeth changing sex...

oh I feel so sorry for the boy who fell asleep in the exam...surely they could have woken him earlier Angry?

beenrumbled · 22/05/2018 20:39

second 😲

DS said the lad told them when they got out he did the first one, did 5 sentences for the 2nd question then gave up.

Not much revision going on here tonight. 😠

hmcAsWas · 22/05/2018 20:40

I'm a bit Shock at the exam invigilator leaving the boy to snooze too.

He might get a mark for that Nettleskeins - its quite close to what Banquo said; “look not like th'inhabitants o'th'earth”

mmzz - I have noticed a change in dd. She's has become more resilient and is taking this all in her stride - which was quite unexpected

weaselwords · 22/05/2018 20:41

Hurrah! Youngest was really happy with his English lit! We’d guessed the Macbeth question would be about the supernatural and the Christmas Carol question was about fear and he thinks he did ok. He wrote his essay plan like a pro and stayed calm throughout. Im so pleased for him. He’s completely turned this around in the last 4 weeks Grin

weaselwords · 22/05/2018 20:43

And well done to everyone else. I’m sorry I’m so self obsessed Blush

TheSecondOfHerName · 22/05/2018 20:48

weaselwords well done to him, and now he knows that he can do it.

Teenmum60 · 22/05/2018 20:52

mmzz - My Dd is quite philosophical about the exams now ..she'll chat in the car on the way back from an exam ...but then it's on to the next. DD's attitude is: Well if I get X and it's not enough then I will have to work around it ..so in many ways quite mature ..not putting herself under pressure but also not giving up on where she would like to be after the exams - so yes definite signs of resilience.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 22/05/2018 20:53

Ah, I'm sure many of us are a bit self obsessed, or at least own offspring obsessed!

Essay plan, eh? I haven't dared ask DS3 if he wrote one. He doesn't seem as interested in doing physics revision as he should be. He's currently revising some music listening quizzes on a website called music first. But music exams are after half term. Confused
