Hi all

I have decided to restart this thread good luck for friday!!!!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 22/02/2012 13:48

Trinity uniform comes from Hewitts.

SoupDragon · 22/02/2012 13:49

Trouser and shirts you can get from anywhere though.

The tricky one is the white soled trainers for indoor PE.

Seeline · 22/02/2012 14:29

@ FarmerBarleyMow - I think we are teetering towards T too. I think the only thing still holding me back is the journey which although not excessive is much more than the 20mins walk to W. At 10 these things seem really important - I'm sure in a year or 2 that will be the least of our worries Grin
Useful to know about uniform Soup - Hewitts I can cope with!

bananadrama · 22/02/2012 14:35

I was at the T school tour today too! I was very impressed. Need to wait until March 1st to see what state offer we get and will then decide what to do! Such a big decision!

Ps Stresshead, while I was there today I picked up a uniform list with all you need to get and how much it costs. Am sure they would send the list to you if you asked?

SoupDragon · 22/02/2012 15:22

With Hewitts you either need to make an appointment or turn up at opening time or suffer the crowds. It is hell during the summer holidays!

Caoimhe · 22/02/2012 18:13

I wouldn't worry too much about the indoor trainers - I've never bothered with them and no-one has ever picked up on it!!!

Glad to hear some of you are heading to T in September!! There is even a Dalek Building Club for your boys to join (although it is taking absolutely forever!!!! Grin).

SoupDragon · 22/02/2012 19:01

Have they not built that bloody dalek yet???

Ladymuck · 22/02/2012 19:47

Apparently they're about to film the next lot of Doctor Who so they need to get a move on!

bananadrama · 22/02/2012 19:57

I saw that very Dalek in the DT room today! It's got bit of a way to go yet, but definitely looks like a Dalek. Think its head (if that's what you call it!) was on the floor! By the way, I loved the racing cars the boys have made. My DS would sooo love to do that!

SoupDragon · 22/02/2012 20:27

Just to clarify, is this another dalek or is it the same one they were making last year? Best hope that the daleks don't appear until late on in the next series eh?

Ladymuck · 22/02/2012 21:04

I think that the Dalek club is just a ruse for visiting parents, to allow that "oh, I wish I could have done that" moment. The current generation are all off on Minecraft or COD.

SoupDragon · 22/02/2012 21:12

Noooo, Caoimhe's DS was in it last year so it existed then!

I was getting my thrills through Paper Geometry Club. Except DS1 has been forced to attend training band which clashes. I may have to make him quit flute next term...

Ladymuck · 22/02/2012 23:55

Is paper geometry simply British origami?Grin

SoupDragon · 23/02/2012 07:06

:)

I think it is not just origami as it seemed to involve things like cut-out cards. So, not just paper folding.

SoupDragon · 23/02/2012 07:07

I wanted him to do HArd Sums club too Blush Unfortunately (or fortunately for him!) that's in the morning and he can't get there.

Seeline · 23/02/2012 09:38

My DS has been looking interested at Paper Geometry and Hard Sums clubs!! He fell in love with the racing cars at the open day - I think that may be his sole reason for T being in the lead Grin
@Soup - roughly how much are music lessons at T?

SoupDragon · 23/02/2012 10:14

DS1 had one term (or was it half a term?) free as he hadn't learnt an instrument before - these were with 2 other boys in a group. Now it is something like £165 for 10 individual lessons (one terms worth) and he is paying to hire a flute (but that goes on the school bill and I have no idea what it costs)

Seeline · 23/02/2012 10:23

Thanks Soup - that sounds pretty reasonable. DS is currently learning hte piano with a private teacher (but not getting very far!!) It would be much easier all round if he learnt during hte school day rather than having to squeeze in another activity after school. We are currently paying £16 for 30 mins, so might be worth considering a swap. Not that we've finally decided on T yet but it's looking more and more likely!!

SoupDragon · 23/02/2012 10:28

I've got my fat arse up off my seat and looked at the invoice on the fridge - £165 for 10 x 35 minute lessons.

They make sure that your DS misses a range of lessons so they don't always miss, say, maths. Some are also on one of the lunch periods, some before/after school.

Seeline · 23/02/2012 11:10

Thanks Soup (my arse is so fat it rarely leaves the seat!!)
That sounds a very good system. When I was at school I always had my flute lessons at the same time each week - we were allowed them during break and lunch, but were also allowed to miss RE, music and PE. I don't think I attended a winter PE lesson after my first year - they never checked when your lesson actually was so I was quite able to miss all 4 Grin They've obviously got wise to that one.

SoupDragon · 23/02/2012 11:13

It's a bit of a PITA as DS1 wanted to swap with his friend due to an orthodontist appointment - he couldn't as the friend had missed too many maths lessons. They are too conscientious :o

Caoimhe · 23/02/2012 13:34

Yes it is the same Dalek! Once they have finished the structure they will be doing some fancy pants electronics. I am hoping it might be finished before Ds leaves in 5 years time!

I was astonished to discover that Ds had been going to Hard Sums Club but then I was discovered that he was going because it was nice and warm there and you get free toast if you do five sums!!!!!

Seeline · 23/02/2012 14:03

Free toast - that sounds right up DSs street Grin
That'll be another tick for T as far as he is concerned - plus points are definitely mounting up!

SoupDragon · 23/02/2012 14:05

LOL @ free toast :o

Asterisk · 23/02/2012 23:25

Funny how 'free toast' at home doesn't have the same appeal.
