Hows everyone's kids getting on with their exams / studying?

DDs first Higher exam is D&M I think. She's been busy working on past papers but feels fairly confident. She is least confident about Chemistry.

and whatever he achieves I'll be just as proud of him as I am of his big brother. :)

Oh and meant to say good luck for everyone doing H English tomorrow. My youngest has Practical Cookery written paper tomorrow only an hour, and he doesn't get extra time for that. He's already done the practical a few months ago.

Next after that for my 2 is advanced higher maths and N5 applications of maths on Monday.

Kazeragi · 08/05/2024 21:03

Mine did Apps nat 5 @DownWithThisKindOfThing , total lifesaver after realising they were never going to get Maths! I think it's a great course!

Yes it’s good isn’t it. Apparently the higher is quite hard but we will worry about that next year!

theferry · 08/05/2024 22:00

Everyone is made to do higher English at DDs school. Otherwise I don’t think she would have taken it.

Misthios · 08/05/2024 23:32

I'm invigilating H English tomorrow, I think out of 210 children in the year there will be about 180 taking it, not all will be with me in the hall though as those who have special arrangements will be accommodated elsewhere. Fingers crossed for everyone with kids sitting it!

Glasgowgin · 09/05/2024 07:17

Fingers crossed for everyone today! My son’s most hated subject by a mile just fingers crossed for a good paper!

DS dropped out off Higher Maths in January this year, only doing Level 6 numeracy now. He just found the content of Higher Maths too difficult.

Good luck to all sitting their Higher English or any other exams currently scheduled for today.

Igneococcus · 09/05/2024 07:50

ds' first higher today, it's been quite a long wait this year for his exams to start.
Good luck everybody.

cushionfiend · 09/05/2024 07:58

Higher English for us today today - good luck, everyone!

weebarra · 09/05/2024 08:09

Good luck with H English today. DS1's first one.His extra time is at the start, so he had to get up early to make sure his adhd meds had time to kick in. He's just left.

LadyDanburysHat · 09/05/2024 08:28

DS2 is really worried about Higher English despite having a tutor for it. He really lacks confidence, and he needs it for his college course net year too.

This is also his last exam, He had really early exams. He will glad to be done today though.

motheronthedancefloor · 09/05/2024 08:55

DDs second exam today, H English, she hates H English but needs a B for the course she wants to do. Most courses ask for English at B, which is quite annoying. She has a tutor. She's better at English than she thinks but just lacks interest and confidence in it. I will be anxious all day.

Mine will be glad to get today over, its been a long wait since PE H, bus few days now with English, maths and biology but shes less worried about them

HigherDays · 09/05/2024 10:43

Also 1st one today - Higher English - been a long time coming. Keeping everything crossed. Good luck to all those also doing H Eng today. Next one is a clear 5 days away - History but only a day between that and Chemistry. If ever they needed several clear days before an exam it would be before Chemistry - hey ho!

Misthios · 09/05/2024 11:22

H English ruae paper all about the benefits of electric cars. Must have been chosen before the Greens had their tantrum.

LadyDanburysHat · 09/05/2024 11:23

I heard from DS2 that the RUAE paper was 'alright'. Probably the best I can expect.

Kazeragi · 09/05/2024 11:53

Alright in S5 speak sounds good to me!

motheronthedancefloor · 09/05/2024 12:43

DD says she will 'tell me later'

Not helpful to this anxious mum

DS1 texted, 'well, I didn't cry'

8misskitty8 · 09/05/2024 13:03

Higher English for Dd this morning.
She said the Jeklle and Hyde question was a ‘curve ball’
So don’t think it went great for her 🥺

HGC2 · 09/05/2024 13:08

actually got a fine from mine!

Sturmundcalm · 09/05/2024 13:12

(via text) i've got "good" which seems wildly positive...

That's so hard for

motheronthedancefloor · 09/05/2024 13:28

looking at twitter, the ten mark question appears unpopular
