Isreal has a kill rate of at least 4 to 1.

Enough.

Ratlingbow · 22/10/2023 21:49

To go on a "pro Palestinian" match after what the Gaza government just did to the Israeli people...I'm not sure how else you can interpret that?

Littlebluetruck · 22/10/2023 21:55

ssd · 22/10/2023 21:21

@Littlebluetruck , you know as well as me for every idiot shouting hateful statements there would have been 100s of people disagreeing with them

There was a time I would have agreed with you.

But there is an undeniable amount of antisemitsm on show here. People aren’t even trying to hide it and I don’t believe for a second it’s only a few idiots.

And I mean real antisemitsm, not just criticism of the Israeli Government.

It’s making me really uncomfortable.

Thatisthewayaha · 22/10/2023 21:37

No, it doesn't mean that the Palestinians should accept what has been done to them. It means that they shouldn't carry out mass atrocities. Besides Palestinians in the Gaza strip do not have their homes confiscated as Israel has no physical presence there. As for being an open air prison, perhaps you should ask the nation with which it has its biggest land border, Egypt, why it is doing this to its Muslim neighbours. Also why most Muslim countries formally and legally discriminate against descendants of Palestinian refugees still today?

You are conflating Palestinians and Hamas...
This is exactly the problem with some posters "innocent Israelis" but all Palestinians are Hamas, carrying out atrocities.

Also the Palestinians on the Gaza strip are not all originally from there, many are REFUGEES who had land stolen from them by settlers and have ended up there

Israel is responsible for creating Gaza into an open air prison. Many won't leave as they have NO RIGHT OF RETURN.

On the other hand a jew from New Jersey with NO semitic blood can move his whole family over, fully funded, steal some Palestinians home and then get universal health care and a gun to protect the home he stole. That's part of the the problem.

So tell me, what should Palestinians do.....

Littlebluetruck · 22/10/2023 22:03

Dubonet · 22/10/2023 21:22

I never heard anything like that, nothing. Anyone shouting that would have been rooted out....

There is a video. It shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Of course not all Palestinians are Hamas.

And thank you for so clearly setting out the fact that for you, it isn't about the current war or any other injustice, it is just not accepting that Israel exists. That is the conclusion that many people have sadly reached.

In terms of what Palestinians should do, they should accept that they are not going back to their property in current day Israel and build a prosperous future for themselves. And ask why they face discrimination in some many Muslim countries

ssd · 22/10/2023 22:08

Haha. Saying the Palestines should build a prosperous future for themselves must be satire. I'm sure they'd hate that, they will prefer being bombed and starved and decimated.

One horror begets another horror.

The bombing should stop.

That is what people are marching for.

I agree with your first two sentences.

But I cannot agree with you that that is solely what people are marching for. Certainly, it is not everyone who is marching, but…

I truly did not believe I would see kind of sentiment in Europe in my lifetime.

It’s really concerning.

Why do you think that is? Israel routinely warns Palestinians in Gaza before they bomb terrorist targets. Hamas does not evacuate its own people, they use them as human shields. Ordinary Palestinians are cannon fodder for Hamas and the Iranians. Israel protects its citizens.

Dubonet · 22/10/2023 22:31

"No, it doesn't mean that the Palestinians should accept what has been done to them. It means that they shouldn't carry out mass atrocities"

You are clearly stating here Palestinians shouldn't carry out atrocities, not Hamas shouldn't....you are conflating the two because it suits your narrative that a Palestinians are terrorists.

This isn't a war, Palestinians don't have an army, to suggest its a war is ridiculous. Its Israel taking its revenge, mostly on innocent

there is no justice in Gaza, thanks to Israel. Its you who is only bothered about injustce now when Israelis died.

Injustice and murder happens every day in the west bank too where Hamas doesn't exist, carried out by the Israeli government and the IDF, 70 people dead there since August.

As for building a prosperous future in Gaza, are you on crack?! Go and educate yourself on the conditions in Gaza and the terrible situation people there live in day after day, even before this bombing.

I didn't say Israel shouldn't exist, but let's be clear it has stolen land from the indigenous population and made them refugees and continues to do so to this day. It is an occupier.

Stop with your nonsense about other Muslim countries, this is about Israel stopping killing even more innocent civilians and giving Palestinians equal rights and that was the purpose of the protests.

The protests yesterday and the support they got shows that there are a significant number of people for whom all innocent lives matter, including Palestinians ones and that people won't stand by quietly while Israel kills even more people on a revenge mission.

I've had it with this thread, disappointing that even on Scotsnet there are so many posters for whom Palestinians lives are less than Israeli ones.

How are you going to strike your target if you forewarn everyone? Have you even thought about what you are saying?

ssd · 22/10/2023 22:33

Thats true @SharonEllis, they warn Gaza to evacuate its hospitals. Because its really easy for the sick and ill to just collect their belongings and walk out into the bombed streets. Its really decent of Israel to do that for them.

As opposed to Hsmas giving no warning before it launched a wave of rapes, murders and hostage taking on communities including elderly people and babies?

Thatisthewayaha · 22/10/2023 22:40

I categorically do not think that all Palestinians support Hamas or are terrorists. I think that the vast majority just want ordinary lives.

Gaza is blockaded because Hamas is its government

Egypt shares its largest land border. Many Muslim countries formally discriminate against Palestinian descendents of refugees.

Have a good night.

It makes me feel really uncomfortable too. Particularly when anti-senitism is in the rise across Europe. Although I understand why people are marching and it's good that our government are aware that the atrocities are unacceptable.
I'd probably be more comfortable if it was a march that was purely calling for peace or if I knew for certain that UK Jewish people were okay with it.

What about British Palestinians? do you care for them to feel ok?

I hope you realise that every Palestinian is not a terrorist.

Warriormum1 · 22/10/2023 23:03

Maybe we should be marching for all the innocent civilians on BOTH sides who have been affected, or marching for an end to war instead of marching in support of a particular side? If you were to ask me which football team I support, I would tell you I don't support any team because I don't like and I don't support football. Only people who support football support a team. By the same token, I don't support one side or the other of any war because I don't support war. If you genuinely want peace you should be marching for peace, not for a particular side of a war. And if you really wanted to support anyone in this war, it would be more intelligent to choose the side of the innocent women and children - both from Israel and Palestine who have been butchered by cowardly men (and I am sure there are some cowardly women involved as well) - both from Hamas and the IDF because these big brave soldiers, rather that fight each other, find it much more convenient and easy to attack and kidnap babies, women and children than to actually fight the violent people from both sides who are responsible for this predicament.

sunshinesupermum · 22/10/2023 23:14

SharonEllis Yes a vigil for the 203 kidnapped Jewish people was in London today. I was there and it was most moving.

Your post echoes something I’ve only just learned about and have been really moved by. The coalition between Women Wage Peace and Women of the Sun…

How women in Israel and Palestine are pushing for peace — together

The joint Women Wage Peace-Women of the Sun initiative unites Israeli and Palestinian women calling for peace. The international community should elevate their voices.

I think it is because the Israeli media, the Israeli government, the IMF, and the Israeli population see to civilian population as collateral damage.

I think it is because the Israeli media, the Israeli government, and the Israeli population have dehumanized the Palestinian people.

I think it is because the Israeli media, the Israeli government, and the Israeli population excuse themselves from their barbarity by conflating Palestinian and terrorist.

YearsofYears · 22/10/2023 23:51

Well they seem to have had quite a lot of support with several marches, no?

Iwantcakeeveryday · 23/10/2023 09:12

PaminaMozart · 22/10/2023 21:12

Hamas are democratically elected by the people of Palestine and their aim is to rid the world of jews. Perhaps people don't realise this??

Yet another post by someone who doesn't have a clue about why the whole situation is as shitty as it is.

It has been explained so many times, but people still come out with these simplistic 'reasonable' suggestions.

Gaza, and the camps in Lebanon, are hell on earth. People are truly desperate - in a way that people leading normal lives cannot comprehend.

Please don't be rude. I understand why actually, your view is actually the simplistic one. Both sides are doing wrong. Hamas want to rid the world of jews. Are you disputing that? Are you supporting it? Are you ignoring THAT history? I know the camp's are hell on earth, that doesn't mean you can;t also support the people who just had Hamas walk in and murder, rape and kidnap them.

Hamas were elected! Despite their aim being to rid the world of jews.
