This Bill goes to parliament for discussion on Tuesday.

If you'd like to write to your MSPs to raise the issue of women's rights and/or children's rights, here are some useful ideas for points to raise/form letters:

Wow@exwhyzed I've never been called woke I'm extremely mainstream!!!
I don't think you know that in Scotland these most of these things aren't "women's "
And also the changing rooms thing... I'm never comfortable changing without a cubicle so couldn't comment

Sorry you are going to have to explain that a bit more

what aren't womens?

are you saying Scotland doesn't have women's prisons, women's rape counselling services, women's changing rooms, women's hospital wards and women's refuges?

is that what you are saying? Really?

Also @BedTaker can we please dial this down to some sort of reality check- it's not the main issue. Violence against women is absolutely systemic and we should be fighting this as a sisterhood. Let's not allow 5 bad men a year to distract us from the women ( including trans women)who are killed, violated and oppressed mainly in their own homes daily in this country.

No transwomen [aka men who say they are women] have been killed, thankfully, for years in Scotland, if ever.

These males are not our sisters. They run the risk of being just as violent and oppressive as any other male. They are the safest demographic by a long shot.

This part of the Equality Act?

@Rainbowshit lol whut? I do t think this has any basis in the equality act at all haha 😂

oh dear.

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity (MLK)

promisetobehave · 22/12/2022 21:24

@BinBandit I appreciate these are people who will be worried by this legislation but in reality they need to find solidarity with trans people rather than othering them. We're all in this together as oppressed groups.

ODFOD 🙄🙄🙄

promisetobehave · 22/12/2022 22:03

@Rainbowshit @Waitwhat23 you are saying I'm clueless but I'm the exact opposite.
If there are reasons for exclusions to the GRA this is provided for.
I'm a longstanding feminist of impeccable credentials and I know that you are all coming from a place of concern.
However you're being duped by a ridiculous right wing idea that there is a risk to women from bad actors within the trans community.
I do not wish to downplay your concerns but the reality is there aren't many trans women at all who want to rape anyone .
The thing that really clinched it for me is that I know some trans men and no one has concerns that they are a danger.
Criminal behaviour is still criminal.
So, what's intrinsically wrong with being trans?

promisetobehave · 22/12/2022 22:06

@exwhyzed we don't have lots of these in Scotland...

We can read your posts. We can see you are absolutely clueless about the equality act and the exceptions for single sex spaces and occupational requirements.

It's you that's been duped pet.

Have you seen the stats for the rate of sex offences by transwomen in prison? They are male. They offend at the same rate as other males as a minimum.

They are more likely to murder than be murdered.

Transmen are female, not sure why knowing transmen has clinched it for you. They are not a threat to other females.

Rainbowshit · 22/12/2022 22:08

And lol at "impeccable credentials" what the fuck are those?! 😂😂

Waitwhat23 · 22/12/2022 22:10

You've either not listened to or not understood any of the arguments against self id. You've ignored the mention of the amendments which allow any males with nefarious intentions (male convicted sex offenders in those particular examples) to access vulnerable women in the female prison estate.

But to be honest, your use of the term right wing has just convinced me that you are just disingenuous.

I don't have any concerns about trans men accessing women's services.

there is nothing intrinsically wrong with being trans.

the concern is about how this new legislation undermines women's rights.

I'm not right wing. I'm a social worker working with vulnerable people including a number of trans men who are some of the most vulnerable people I work with.

I can do that as well as recognising the huge safeguarding risk there is allowing men to self ID as women. It's called the ability to think critically.

Waitwhat23 · 22/12/2022 22:12

Should read 'amendments which were rejected which allows'.

promisetobehave · 22/12/2022 22:12

@Rainbowshit ok I have a very problematic attitude towards anyone that calls me pet. In fact it's a term that's usually used by men.

exwhyzed · 22/12/2022 22:13

promisetobehave · 22/12/2022 22:06

@Rainbowshit ok I have a very problematic attitude towards anyone that calls me pet. In fact it's a term that's usually used by men.

It's used by females in my family. But sure don't engage with the rest of my post. I know you can't.

promisetobehave · 22/12/2022 22:16

@exwhyzed if you're a social worker you should be aware of the differential between policy and practice? I think we need to meet a middle ground here..the law should allow for non- discrimination surely?

Treat me like you think I'm an alien new to earth and give me some examples of what you mean but this... as I often say to my social, work students when they come out with meaningless word salad like that.

I treat people as human and individuals. That doesn't mean I ignore obvious safeguarding risks.

Not my current job but a previous job I worked with sex offenders seeking release from secure hospitals. I know how they think. How they operate. What makes them risky.

what do you know beyond a few nice imaginary trans people.

Rainbowshit · 22/12/2022 21:53

Like I said. Clueless. 🙄

Clueless and a 'TRA' SNP supporter. Don't waste your breath. It's Christmas.

Rainbowshit · 22/12/2022 22:31

Some stats for you @promisetobehave

questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2022-01-06/98878

Pretty high rates wouldn't you say?

Not in any way the same as the low rate of sex offences in female convictions.

promisetobehave · 22/12/2022 22:33

@exwhyzed absolutely not I have "lived experience "..
@exwhyzed I'd love to have your crystal ball ! How do you know anything about my political views?

Huh?

promisetobehave · 22/12/2022 22:38

@Rainbowshit I've looked at your link and it tells me nothing about risk.
But the most important thing is that of all the (under 200) people mentioned I can't find any offences committed in prison .

You don't think the fact that 60% of transwomen in prison are there for one or more sexual offences compared to 19% of males and 4% of females tells you anything about risk? 🤔
