This Bill goes to parliament for discussion on Tuesday.

If you'd like to write to your MSPs to raise the issue of women's rights and/or children's rights, here are some useful ideas for points to raise/form letters:

Is it just me or does anyone else find it unusual that we've gone from " i have two friends who are trans and lovely" to "I've read all those books and know the legislation quite well" in the space of less than 24 hours?

You know @BinBandit people can have a wide range of interests, opinions and friends.
I know all this legislation as it's relevant to schools ( I'm a teacher) and has massively impacted our work. In fact the incorporation of the UNCRC is amazing -although quite challenging if you've got a very fixed view of children, gender and society....

Ahhh that's all clear now. Merry Christmas all.

I didn't report your posts @promisetobehave. Perhaps you need to reflect on why they were considered so vile they were deleted?

I find it interesting that you say mumsnet don't care about the rise in teenage girls. Are you new here? I suggest you have a browse through the many threads in that topic suggesting that perhaps what teenage girls need is talking therapies rather than being allowed to render themselves infertile or slice off healthy breasts.

As I saw someone say on Twitter earlier isn't interesting that females are more likely to want to transition at the onset of puberty yet males only decide they are "women" when they are going through the criminal justice system? 🤔

I'm a long-standing feminist who happens to believe that trans women
This is really interesting to me - how does someone "happen" to believe that, what is it about the definition of woman and the definition of trans woman that makes you think they are equivalent?

The group Legally Male has just been brought into being by this new bill. They’ve written to Shona Robison to get clarity on how gender critical women who don’t consider themselves to be men can legally become male without being prosecuted for a fraudulent application, specifically what ‘living in the acquired gender’ actually involves. While obviously a piss take it very effectively highlights the weaknesses in the system, as apparently there is no requirement to dress or act a particular way, or to change your name. Opening a bank account as a male may even suffice. If you can’t define what ‘living in the opposite gender’ involves you therefore can’t possibly ever prove that an application was fraudulent.

Teacher, actuary, 2 friends, new friends. At least keep the story straight....
Anywhow do your square twaw with single sex spaces , promise?

Scottishskifun · 23/12/2022 18:55

For me the biggest concern about the bill is the refusal to even stop sex offenders from being able to use it. That's a huge red flag!

As for prisons are not safe spaces anyway yes your right they are not but over 53% of female inmates reported being subject to sexual abuse as a child or adult in their life time. How on earth it is wise to then allow someone who is on sexual charges orconvicted charges access to that cohort because they have a certificate? No hormone therapy no post ops.
come on even agreeing with some aspects of the bill people can see how fundementally dangerous and a train wreck this is?!
The SNP didn't care in the majority about these aspects and just wanted their way.

I'm glad the uk govt is going to be examining this closely its not the first time they have been told they overstep the mark either!
