This Bill goes to parliament for discussion on Tuesday.

If you'd like to write to your MSPs to raise the issue of women's rights and/or children's rights, here are some useful ideas for points to raise/form letters:

This should have left me speechless but it didn't. The snp polices and cover ups are something to behold. Of course there should be women only spaces. I can not understand why a trans would want to sit in on a survivor of rape group for example. Women deserve places they can feel safe. Snp/greens are a law unto themselves.

Elfholloway · 21/12/2022 07:36

Absolutely furious. I really hope this goes through the courts - I would dig deep for a challenge. I can't understand how it's not a contravention of the Equality Act.

lifeinthelastlane · 21/12/2022 09:34

Phone in on this on radio Scotland just now, you can phone in or text.
I am too angry to speak.

Powerful intervention from a rape victim on the phone in this morning, saying that now she struggles to get help in a single sex environment. Says that she would self exclude now if she was first seeking help, and she’s not really sure what happened. Since the law doesn’t actually require rape crisis to be mixed sex you can only assume that this is ideological creep of this ‘be kind and inclusive’ mentality that falls over itself to cater to trans but never seems to do impact assessments for any other groups. I’m also beyond angry that MSPs rejected an amendment to prevent sex offenders getting a GRC and being placed in women’s prisons or forcing their victims to address them in court as ‘she’. How can ANYONE on any side put the rights of sex offenders above rape victims?

So much harm will come from this shit show of a bill it’s staggering, but one thing I haven’t seen discussed is this clause that someone has to live in their new gender for life or face prosecution. Isn’t this effectively outlawing detransition? NHS England new guidance says that most teenagers who believe they are trans will come to terms with their biological sex, and there are already cases where detransitioners are suing because they feel the affirmative ‘treatment’ they received was not appropriate and has ruined their lives. In Scotland not only are more children to be put on the pathway to sterilisation and mutilation but if they change their mind, they’ll be criminals. This group are also victims of gender ideology but aren’t considered at all (the committee couldn’t find the time to hear from them, just as it couldn’t find the time to hear victims of male violence). Surely it would be much better to move away from ‘affirmative treatment’ and fully explore psychological therapies for what is a recognised mental health condition before taking drastic steps that ruin lives.

One of the biggest disgraced of yesterday was voting down an amendment to stop convicted sex offenders from using the system. To me that's just common sense given everything they have said. The only reason I can see for this was that it was proposed by a Conservative which is disgraceful to vote on party lines about something so serious!

Oystersandwhelks · 21/12/2022 11:38

In Edinburgh now, and looking forward to seeing some of you at the protest demo outside the Scottish parliament at 1pm.

It’s institutionalised gaslighting. Trans women are not - and never will be - women. It’s a simple fact. It’s not nasty or transphobic to say that. It’s a fact. The way Scottish government is denying this fact is gaslighting, abusive and endangers women and girls. That’s why everyone is so angry, and that’s why time will show the SNP and Labour and the Lib Dems to be on the wrong side of history here.

the Green Party are just appalling. Always have been, always will be. They certainly don’t give two hoots about the environment, that’s for sure, which is a shame as many people want a true Green Party to vote for.

RhannionKPSS · 21/12/2022 23:59

The rally was fantastic!

RhannionKPSS · 22/12/2022 00:00

Brilliant, inspiring women speaking out.
Shame on all of those who vote for this appalling bill.

Rainbowshit · 22/12/2022 00:24

Well I have emailed every single one of my MSPs again plus Anas Sarwar asking them if they think females will be more or less safe as a result of this bill. Shame on them if they vote it through.

RhannionKPSS · 22/12/2022 01:26

Anas didn’t open his mouth once, Jackie Bailey what a smug fool she is
And Robin Moira White was there as was MW the trans identifying man who is CEO of ERCC

Will that horror Mriduhl be able to get a GRC under these proposals?

Oystersandwhelks · 22/12/2022 08:22

Yes, of course. Anyone will.

PauliString · 22/12/2022 08:25

So the only men who can’t be legally women are transmen who detransition?

The answer is that they don't care. We need to budge up and hand over some of our rights privileges to keep the men happy.

Rainbowshit · 22/12/2022 10:15

Oystersandwhelks · 22/12/2022 08:22

Yes, of course. Anyone will.

But Mriduhl isn't entitled to one under current rules because of nationality I think? Nothing to do with self id.

RhannionKPSS · 22/12/2022 11:38

And yet MW is still he CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre without any form of GRC from any country

RhannionKPSS · 22/12/2022 12:02

Please keep writing to your MSPs & MPs in the New Year
Women in Scotland are not giving up on women’s rights and safeguarding children.

dementedma · 22/12/2022 12:09

I was there yesterday. Both uplifted and saddened. What has Scotland become?

The only thing I can think of now (other than lobbying for a biological definition of sex in law) is to use all the words from the various horses' mouths which insisted that there was nothing stopping services for being single sex only, to campaign for that to happen.

We know that services have been Stonewalled into doing the exact opposite - Lying liars and the lies they tell.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 22/12/2022 16:05

We need to somehow get the UK petition on clarifying the Equality Act into the mainstream media so more people are aware of it. I have no doubt that if the bulk of Scotland knew it was there it would reach the 100k in a matter of days and then there has to be parliamentary debate. There is potentially a small window here to protect our rights. The UK govt right now are erring on the side of common sense, having explicitly rejected self ID and talking about protecting single sex spaces, but I don’t trust a Labour govt to hold women in such high regard given their form and the very disappointing whipping of MSPs to back this despite grass roots being opposed.

Charmanderchick · 22/12/2022 16:26

And the taliban have just announced women cannot attend university, be educated, go to a public park… this is the reality of life for women there. How many men would be keen in those circumstances to decide to be a woman? I cannot get over the harm young people are exposed to and potential ramifications of gender construct nonsense.

dolor · 22/12/2022 17:08

This is not weird behaviour at all.
