Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

OP posts:

I’m really annoyed my watch has clearly had a hissy fit and done something to my steps. Now at 10k when I was close to 20k earlier! 😡
Considering iv ran 5k and walked nearly 5 miles it’s rather annoying!

How annoying @runningpink!! Well done anyway!

@mapleleavesreturn that’s good!

I’ve been a “run” , dog walk, and cut the grass. Within calories. Phew!

TeeNoG · 19/04/2022 11:21

@WouldBeGood- how Edinburgh is a funny city, as you walk uphill to go out, but still have to walk uphill to get home 😃

How true! 😆. I run down a big hill at the start of my run and then walk up at it the end - don't even entertain running up it tbh 😜.

@runningpink that's so frustrating, I hate it when that happens. Worse than being out on a walk/run and realising you haven't got your sports watch on - is the exercise even happening?!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/04/2022 14:31

Absolutely true on the hills. I have to run in a small 1k-ish loop to avoid them 😂

I am still testing negative, but DH and I both have that 'cold coming on kind of feeling!

Annoying about the watch @runningpink though good news about the running and cycling!

WouldBeGood · 19/04/2022 20:39

Be resigned, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo- we all tested negative first!

Been to gym for weights and boxing. Calories ok but turned to wine cos stressed… still within deficit though… so far!

Tomorrow going to go a pretend run, I think. Week two run three.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/04/2022 21:06

I want to test positive @WouldBeGood, but ideally by tomorrow! Have bank holiday weekend plans... Just now would be a perfect time.

I am back on the counting from tomorrow. But ate healthily today and did some bodycombat, my first post-hols exercise. Sluggish, but worth doing!

WouldBeGood · 19/04/2022 21:09

I think you count from symptoms so you should be ok??

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/04/2022 23:25

I am feeling perkier as it seems like all the covid testing and isolation rules get thrown out the window on April 30th which means even my rules obeying DH will happily travel and I don't need to worry about what day (if) we test positive. As long as we are well, like it was back in the pre-covid days, we will go away!

WouldBeGood · 20/04/2022 08:32

That’s good @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ! Fingers crossed

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/04/2022 20:37

Testing...

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/04/2022 20:41

Ah good, I've not been able to post all day!

I was 3.5 pounds heavier than two weeks ago when I braved the scales, but that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be after holiday excess. I feel really bloated so I'm hoping some of it is water weight...

Back to calorie counting today, completed a bodypump class and have just managed 10K steps despite working from home today. So a good start to my new 'week' (which starts with a Wednesday weigh in).

Countdown to the summer holidays & summer clothes has begun!

How is everyone doing today?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/04/2022 21:28

If anyone else struggling to post, I had to log out and back in!

WouldBeGood · 20/04/2022 21:45

Hello! That’s definitely a result @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo. I’m far too scared to weigh in this week. I have been busy today though.. did last run of week 2. It’s pretty easy but she talks you through form and stuff, which is good. Just too many bloody hills! Also used up lots of calories going shopping in real shops now it’s normal, so that was nice.I really am tired now.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/04/2022 06:23

Definitely good to build back up after your knee problems @WouldBeGood

I still have my final c25k run to do. Might give it a bash today, but the lack of exercise over the last couple of weeks might make it a struggle. I've felt pretty sluggish this week but I know a week or so back on it properly will make a world of difference.

mapleleavesreturn · 22/04/2022 10:57

Had to delete the app. Braved scales - some movement in the right direction!

3.5 lb increase for a holiday is good going!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/04/2022 15:08

Good news on the scales @mapleleavesreturn

I still feel bloated and have been a wee bit over calories, but I think my period is due next week (perimenopausal so not as reliable as it once was) which I think is contributing to carb cravings and sluggishness!

mapleleavesreturn · 23/04/2022 12:36

I find it virtually impossible to diet when I'm due because of the carb craving!

TeeNoG · 23/04/2022 12:38

@mapleleavesreturn well done, scale movement in the right direction always feels so good doesn't it?!

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I'm also peri menopausal and it has such a massive effect on what I eat and how much I exercise. I'm trying really hard to focus on that fact that I ALWAYS feel better when I eat well and exercise, despite what my hormones are telling me.

Having said that, I did also inhale a takeaway pizza and chips in about 10 seconds this week 😕. It was delicious 😋

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/04/2022 13:50

Glad it's just not me! I'm the same re feeling better when I eat well and exercise @TeeNoG so I'm trying to be better at finding this right exercise when I'm due rather than sticking to a rigid schedule. I did enjoy a couple of slices of giant toblerone last night though... 😂

WouldBeGood · 24/04/2022 15:49

Hello! I too have guzzled: salt and pepper beef last night after some wine, but less wine than usual!

I had PT on Friday, did nothing yesterday as had a day out, and today I’ve started wk3 of my c25k app, cut the grass, and been a dog walk. Logging calories today too, and I intend a strict week!

mapleleavesreturn · 24/04/2022 16:12

Week 3 of couch25k is impressive! Not a terrible weekend although could've been better!

TeeNoG · 25/04/2022 07:12

Stayed the same weight this week. Won't lie, bit disappointed but I'll keep going and avoid the self sabotage technique!

Hoping this week will be easier as my son is back to school and I am back at work.

How is everyone else doing?

WouldBeGood · 25/04/2022 08:12

I know that feeling @TeeNoG! but better than a gain. Are you feeling better for your campaign? That’s what I’m clinging to 😃

WouldBeGood · 25/04/2022 08:12

@runningpink how are you?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 25/04/2022 08:47

Happy Monday all. I was right, my period was early (ffs, I thought they would be less frequent, not more, but apparently it's a perimenopausal thing 🙄) and I was really wiped out, but managed to get some walks in over the weekend and didn't guzzle TOO many extra calories.

Will try a run later if I have some energy - I never completed my final C25K run, it's been a few weeks since my last run so not sure if I'll manage 30 mins but will see how I get on!

Don't let the scales get you down @TeeNoG, it could be a bit of normal fluctuation. I always weigh on a Wednesday to let my weight settle after the weekend as I always consume more calories and wine then.
