Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

Well done @runningpink! Your steps are so good.

Today I’ve done over 16k steps which is good for me. I went an extra walk this morning with a little bit of old lady jogging. Just a few minutes, but fingers crossed for getting back to it. I’ve stuck to calories. Exhausted now after all that fresh air and exercise 😃

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 30/03/2022 16:36

Hi! How is everyone today? DH and I were out last night so not a good day calorie wise and I'm a little hungover weary today so I haven't been making the healthiest choices. BUT, I managed not to put any weight on over the last week so that's a bonus.

I have been able to treat myself to some clothes that fit me which has been quite lovely!

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2022 19:58

Sounds like a bit of fun @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo. And great to get nice new clothes!

I had PT today, which went well though definitely got the heart rate up! Stuck to calories.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/03/2022 06:29

It really was fun @WouldBeGood and it's been the first time I enjoyed clothes shopping for a loooooooooong time. I had a very satisfying wardrobe clearout last night getting rid of anything too big. An incentive to keep the weight off! Back to the exercise today.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/04/2022 13:50

How is everyone doing? I have still been a bit off the boil, but it's a new month!

So, bodycombat for me tonight.

@WouldBeGood @runningpink @mapleleavesreturn - any goals as we start the month and head into the weekend?

mapleleavesreturn · 01/04/2022 13:52

Off to canaries on Sunday - I'm optimistically taking trainers! And resolving not to drink lots!!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/04/2022 13:56

Oh amazing @mapleleavesreturn have a fab time.

WouldBeGood · 01/04/2022 14:00

New month, new start! @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo - enjoy combat. My knee is much improved so might give that a good again this month.

I’m away for the weekend so will be off the wagon, but trying not to go too mad. Then back on the regime: the wedding invitation at the start of June is a good incentive!

runningpink · 01/04/2022 17:32

That’s amazing about the clothes shopping @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo

Iv had a hectic two days so food and exercise has been mixed.

I have done a food shop today though so
That should help with the meal planning

Enjoy the weekend away @WouldBeGood and have a fab holiday @mapleleavesreturn

Thanks @runningpink

We were visiting friends at the weekend and it wasn't as active as I expected it to be (which was a shame given all the calories consumed). But I am back to tracking today and will try and get those final C25K runs done this week, starting at lunchtime!

WouldBeGood · 04/04/2022 09:49

I’ve started the day with another premier inn breakfast 😳 Heading home today so will be no steps to speak of, but will try to lay off train snacks!

Back on it properly tomorrow. Good to get planning @runningpink. I’ve been pre logging the next day’s food, and that works well for me

TeeNoG · 04/04/2022 11:07

Could I join please? I lost a few lbs in January, but they've found their way back to me! I want to lose a stone and could do with some friendly motivation 😊

WouldBeGood · 04/04/2022 13:05

Hi, @TeeNoG! I like this thread for just that, friendly motivation and a bit of accountability. Saves me from boring my family too 😃

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/04/2022 13:09

Welcome @TeeNoG!

You can plan tomorrow's food on the train @WouldBeGood ! We're going away at the weekend so I need a very disciplined week before we go, as there'll be no discipline when we're away!

TeeNoG · 04/04/2022 15:34

@WouldBeGood @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo thanks for the welcome.

And yes, it definitely saves my family from having to hear about it - they have heard it all before so have possibly lost interest 😆.

Anyway, now is the time. We are going on holiday in July and I would just love to go and feel comfortable with myself. I have a step target for the week, and am also avoiding random snacking/cupboard raiding. Healthy meals, but no calorie counting as it puts me off entirely!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 05/04/2022 13:16

How did everyone do yesterday? I was back on the calorie counting, which was very hard but I made it! On track today as long as I don't succumb to any snacks later... Dreading the scales tomorrow, but trying just to have a good week ahead of a week away next week.

Went out for a run yesterday -just the one run on the C25K left now, I've almost made it!

Bodycombat is the plan for tonight - wish me luck! I'm really struggling to maintain the exercise now I'm in the office more often, I really need to work out a new rhythm.

WouldBeGood · 05/04/2022 13:29

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo, you’re nearly a C25K graduate!

My eating yesterday was rubbish, and I drank wine cos home holidays.. 😃 Back tracking today and PT later… I may expire! I’m supposed to get a weigh in but think I’m too scared! Good luck with combat.

@runningpink how you?

@TeeNoG I’m the same, I want to be comfortable and able to wear nice clothes without the fat feeling. I’ve started calorie counting and it’s been a game changer for me.

TeeNoG · 05/04/2022 14:50

@WouldBeGood how do you track your calories? It just seems like such a massive pain to me 😖

WouldBeGood · 05/04/2022 15:00

I log everything I eat (and I mean everything!) on My Fitness Pal. I try to do it the day before as I can then ensure protein goals met as well as calorie limit. It’s not nearly as much of a pain in the arse as I feared. Plus you can eat anything: no forbidden foods.

I got my targets from the PT at the gym, but the James Smith Academy has a free calculator thats pretty good. The Fitness Chef group on Facebook is also good for sensible advice and tips.

TeeNoG · 05/04/2022 15:18

@WouldBeGood thank you!

runningpink · 05/04/2022 15:29

Not going well at all…
It’s so cold which makes me want to eat more and I can’t afford to put heating on
In April!
Iv managed to pick up another injury!
And a family bereavement

I consumed a whole tube of Pringles earlier! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Plan to attempt my steps today as injury is less painful, hit my water and do some weights.

Welcome @TeeNoG

That’s amazing @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo get that last run done! What an achievement!

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 05/04/2022 17:58

Oh, @runningpink, what a time you’re having. 💐

Pringles entirely reasonable in the circumstances. I’d just do what you need to to feel better and not stress about fitness. Just pop in here and chivvy is along though!

PT was good. I felt proper bone tired before it, but actually feel good now.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 05/04/2022 19:31

Oh I'm sorry to hear that @runningpink. The heating really is the icing on the cake - the price hike is horrendous.

Do what you need to do. But don't disappear!

Well done on the PT @WouldBeGood . Did you brave the weigh in?

I calorie count too @TeeNoG - it was a game changer for me. Only when I started tracking did I realise how many hidden calories I was consuming. I still have treats and wine etc. but I count everything over the course of a week Wed - Tue. Before I started counting I couldn't understand why when I was 'mostly' being good with food and exercising I wasn't actually losing any weight.

I use nutracheck to track. It is a bit of a faff to begin with, but I have a lot of meals saved on it now, so it's easy just to re-use them. Once you're in the habit of weighing things like rice and pasta it becomes second nature. We always meal plan too.

I had a good bodycombat class, and might even brave the scales in the morning...

WouldBeGood · 05/04/2022 19:52

I didn't @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo - he never mentioned it and launched me into an unexpected cardio session before the weight training, so I avoided it 🤣

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 05/04/2022 20:13

Haha, a luck escape. Of sorts! 😂
