Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

You two are doing amazing! Well done!

I’m having a nightmare week with stuff going wrong…
Chocolate consumed after bloody Nicola made me so angry and upset on Tuesday.
Wednesday my shower broke which caused a lot of stress
Friday the family members who's home I was relying on to be able to shower tested positive so now need to work out other arrangements. This will have an impact on when I can exercise this week for getting to a shower.
I have plans this weekend so wine will be consumed but will try and be sensible with food.

M-16k steps
T-23k steps
W-8k steps
Th- 10k steps
F- 11k steps
Water-no idea
Exercise-few walks and one turbo session. Also picked up my weights and done a workout for first time in months.

Oh, @runningpink what a week!

Your steps are amazing again.

I’ve woken up with a really sore throat so my plans for the gym probably scuppered

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/03/2022 15:35

Nightmare @runningpink hope you get shower sorted soon.

Boooooo on the sore throat @WouldBeGood, how are you feeling.

Did a C25K run this morning (now on about one a week so it's slowing things down) but only three left to go.

Desperate to go out for a big walk to enjoy sunshine, But DH is out of action and the teen is particularly sulky and I don't really fancy it on my own.

WouldBeGood · 19/03/2022 15:56

Well done on C25K @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!

I go all my walks myself (and sometimes dog) as no one else will go with me.

I’ve got the bloody Covid, so will have to try to keep up progress with no gym til I’m not disease ridden 🙄 I feel pretty much ok so far, so hopefully can get out to country and try the old lady jogging again instead.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/03/2022 21:29

Oh rubbish @WouldBeGood. I hope you're not too bothered by symptoms. We're going away at Easter and I'm terrified of catching it before then. Not because of being scared of covid, just because f the potential to wreak havoc with plans!

runningpink · 20/03/2022 19:08

@WouldBeGood snap! I’m trying not to spiral into a panic.
I’m feeling like shit. Although hopeful this might be the kick start to losing weight! 🤞🏻

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 20/03/2022 19:33

Oh, solidarity @runningpink! Hope you feel better quickly. I’m worrying too, but just trying to tell myself that taking it easy for a couple of days should make it go away more quickly. I get really antsy with nothing to do too and so will try to go out country walks at least so I can do something without spreading the poison.

Do feel for you @runningpink, you’ve had a rubbish time 💐

Looks like it’s all down to you this week, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/03/2022 19:49

Oh no! Sending good wishes to you both, and fingers crossed you're not too poorly.

With such high case numbers (one in 14 I read??) I feel like I'm looking over my shoulder to see if it's closing in on me. We're going away for Easter and I'm terrified of getting it just before we go.

WouldBeGood · 20/03/2022 20:10

I hope you avoid it @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo - it’s rife!

I do have a top tip for low cal ice cream though, have you guys tried the Grahams Goddness ones? About 350 cals per tub/ I’ve tried the mint choc chip which is lovely, and treated myself to a tub of white chocolate and raspberry ripple in my covid rat tesco delivery

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/03/2022 21:30

Thanks @WouldBeGood - I'm a bit like 'if I'm going to get it I want to get it right now!' and get it over with before our trip!

I haven't seen that ice cream before - must try it out!!

runningpink · 21/03/2022 09:31

I also plan to walk early morning or late evening as I will be demented stuck at home.

Feel a bit yuck but probably not much more than any other illness.
I’m raging that iv now lost a weeks wages (that I can’t afford to lose) where I would probably manage to be at work albeit at a slower pace type thing.

Part of me is like well at least now I have it and won’t care about going places as I’m now safe for 3months. So can plan and book things! Yay!

How are you today @WouldBeGood?

Not sure if it’s that brand or not but you can get wee tubs of ice cream in Aldi which are high protein and fairly low calories. Haven’t bought any for ages so they may not even have anymore.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/03/2022 15:03

Oh that's rubbish you don't get sick pay @runningpink. Are you eligible for SSP? That's payable from day 1 for covid. And there's the £500 grant, though I am not sure on eligibility criteria.

I'd also go out for socially distanced walks if I was positive now.

I made myself go for a run at lunchtime even though I didn't want to - just for you two! That's the first one of week 9 - 30 whole minutes!

WouldBeGood · 21/03/2022 17:03

Woohoo! Well done, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!

I took dog out in country and it was nice, she was even keen.

I was rough last night, but not bad today. How are you @runningpink?

runningpink · 21/03/2022 19:53

I’m assuming I won’t get paid anyway. I really can’t see it. I will have a look at SSP and my contract as hadn’t thought of that.

Thank you and well done for taking one for the team @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo
Did you enjoy the run?

I haven’t had the energy to walk today but iv pottered about doing jobs. Hoping to get out a wee walk tomorrow morning.
Also hope I sleep this evening.
I’d say it feels like a bad cold but maybe more draining than the usual cold.

I’m also struggle to get warm which is a pain

OP posts:
WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/03/2022 20:34

Def check @runningpink. SSP is normally only payable from day 4 of any absence, but as long as you are off for at least 4 days it is payable from day 1 if you have covid.

I didn't particularly enjoy the run, I definitely don't get a buzz from it, but I was really chuffed with myself for completing it.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/03/2022 20:35

Thanks @WouldBeGood - glad you got out for your walk and that you didn't feel to rough today. Hope you're feeling a bit better tomo @runningpink

WouldBeGood · 21/03/2022 21:50

I think there is still a £500 grant if you have to self isolate, @runningpink? I don’t qualify because if my weird employment status but you might?

I’m now pretty sure this started about a week ago for me then I was exhausted weirdly, so hopefully free soon!

Wk 9 Is great @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo. You should be pleased - especially as you’re carrying the baton single handed this week 😃

runningpink · 22/03/2022 06:41

Ok Iv had a look at the grant and this will sound nuts but I’d rather starve for a week (good for the weight loss) than give Nicola more data to drag this shit out. You need a pcr not lft to qualify.

I’m away to check my contract now. Do I need to apply for SSP or is that up to my employer? Iv had two sick days in 12 years but this is a newish job so unknown territory.

I will save money on petrol around £50 this week and food as I’m not hungry so that will claw back some of the lost earnings

I’m coughing more this morning and have no energy. Can’t see me getting that satisfying rule breaking walk today the way I currently feel. 😡

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 22/03/2022 07:58

It doesn’t sound nuts at all @runningpink: I looked at all the things they were asking and was almost relieved I don’t qualify. You never know, your employer might just pay you? Sorry you’re feeling bad.just stay in bed and drink plenty. DD was quite rough with it too and in bed a lot. Better to get fully recovered and back to smashing fitness goals!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/03/2022 11:24

SSP is automatic @runningpink - there's a minimum earnings threshold of £120 per week.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/03/2022 06:37

How's the covid crew today? Hope you're both not feeling too bad.

Weigh in day for me, only one quarter pound loss which is a little disappointing as I've been reasonably good this week, but Bodycombat class done yesterday.

runningpink · 23/03/2022 08:34

It’s still a loss @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo so well done
Your weight fluctuates daily so if you stepped in the scales tomorrow it could be a 2 pound loss for example so just keep at it!

I feel like I have a little more energy today but still run down. Got a barking cough now but I plan to go a walk this evening. I’m straying to need to get out for some head space more than the exercise point of view as I don’t overly have the energy for that so will be nice to escape!

I normally do a high intensity class this evening, which I can do in zoom instead but I’m thinking that might be pushing it a little too much

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 23/03/2022 08:43

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo, the PT at the gym always says the same as @runningpink! Well done!

I’d definitely not go for the high intensity class, @runningpink. Conserve your energy to get well. A nice walk night help though. I was out with the dog yesterday for a lovely stroll in the country.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/03/2022 10:24

Thanks both, yes I stepped on the scales half an hour later and I was another half pound down, so I'm claiming that one 😂 Clothes are actually starting to be an issue, which is a lovely (albeit expensive) problem to have. But trousers I bought in February for the return to the office are already a bit roomy. Grrrrr.

Def stay away from high intensity class @runningpink, that could really set you back. Glad you're getting out for walks @WouldBeGood.

WouldBeGood · 23/03/2022 10:56

Result, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!

I love clothes shopping, but annoyingly have lots of smaller clothes from when I lost weight on the divorce diet, so no need for shopping here.
