Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

I did a bodycombat class. In fact, I rocked my bodycombat class!

WouldBeGood · 26/01/2022 19:23

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo! Love combat! I’m impressed you do it at home - don’t think I’d have the oomph.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/01/2022 20:08

I started doing it in the first lockdown. Managed to get some equipment for bodypump before everywhere sold out so signed up for Les millls on demand and just really kept it up when the gyms reopened.

I always struggled to find classes at a good time, but now I can squeeze a class and a shower in before dinner so it works really well for me. Some days I have more oomph than others though!

runningpink · 28/01/2022 21:10

Hi all,
Sorry I been awol! My life has turned a bit hectic with work stuff, also have an injury so no running or high intensity classes which is making me grumpy

I think a massive part of my weight gain and cravings for chocolate are to do with the antidepressant medication.
But I feel I am at a point where I would like to come off them so I have a doctors appointment booked. Hoping this helps with the sugar addiction so will make diet easier.

I hope you get the results you need from going private @WouldBeGood

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo you are doing amazing. Well done

@shouldistop how are you getting on?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 29/01/2022 10:52

Welcome back @runningpink! Sorry to hear about the injury. Sounds encouraging that you are feeling ready to discuss coming of the antidepressants.

I am still blowing up my calories at the weekends (unexpectedly had lots of socialising over last few weeks) but still lighter than when I started in early January and the exercise is going well, which I'm pleased about.

mapleleavesreturn · 29/01/2022 19:36

Good luck with the appt running. World's slowest weight loss derailed by covid this week, but feeling better today and have done 8,000 steps which is a step in the right direction!

runningpink · 31/01/2022 12:10

Glad you are feeling better @mapleleavesreturn

I’m waiting on an important phone call so i’m climbing the walls!

Living room has been spring cleaned, pulled sofas out, cleaned skirtings etc

Desperate for a run but can’t so away a walk instead

That sounds like you are making good progress despite the socialising @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo

I’m going to focus on water intake this week and steps. Anything else is a bonus

OP posts:
WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/01/2022 13:14

Sounds like a good focus @runningpink. Hope you don't need to wait too long for your call!

I managed a run today, I have been making slow progress on couch to 5K after rewinding a few weeks after Christmas, but manage the end of week 5 and the 20 minute run. It was a real shuffle but I did it!

Glad you're feeling better @mapleleavesreturn.

WouldBeGood · 31/01/2022 14:10

Good to hear you’re all back on it!

I’ve been trying, been out for food and drinks Friday and Saturday, but been spin Friday, Saturday and today, and walked with dog, and home from dinner on Saturday. Still tracking calories as much as possible.

As a plus, I was able to wear a dress I hadn’t been able to do up before out on Saturday, so that’s made me determined to stick with it. Long way up go, but trying to focus on these little milestones! Weigh in on Friday so that focuses the mind too 😃

mapleleavesreturn · 31/01/2022 17:04

Ooooh that's a good feeling would - I can see my wardrobe over the last few years has gone from fitted to flared to unstructured! And a billowing sideline in comfy knits.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/01/2022 19:09

Good work @WouldBeGood!

I managed a bodypump class on top of my earlier run so feeling very virtuous.

WouldBeGood · 31/01/2022 19:11

It is dangerous, the comfy wardrobe @mapleleavesreturn! 😃

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo: impressive!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 02/02/2022 06:05

Weigh in day - 2.5Ibs lost, so that's 6lbs since I started properly calorie counting using the Nutracheck app 4 weeks ago. I'm so pleased!

shouldistop · 02/02/2022 06:40

@runningpink I'm finding it so hard to get started again. I just need to do it. Today is the day. Back on intermittent fasting.

runningpink · 02/02/2022 07:07

I’m full of good intentions but they just don’t last.

I’m really hoping stopping the medication will be a Turing point and il be able to get back to normal food wise. My weight gain has definitely coincided with the meds.

Good luck @shouldistop

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 02/02/2022 07:47

Good luck @shouldistop! How's the water intake and step count @running pink? The forecast is a bit rubbish here later so I'm going to try and get out for a 15 min walk before I start work. Soon it will be back to the commute so trying to make the most of working from home!

mapleleavesreturn · 02/02/2022 08:41

I always try and remember that the days that are better than before but aren't perfect diet days are still the right trend running - slowly retraining 2+ years of bad habits here takes time.

Anyone see that BBC clip about the importance to your body of getting out early? I can say since I've been taking the dog out early pre covid it does boost you especially on the blue sky days.

WouldBeGood · 02/02/2022 09:50

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo, that's brilliant! Nearly half a stone!

I really like this calorie counting/deficit. Means nothing is forbidden.

Good luck @shouldistop and @runningpink.

WouldBeGood · 02/02/2022 09:52

@mapleleavesreturn I listen to the Huberman Lab podcast, which is really interesting, and he’s really big on getting early morning light for well-being and health. Tricky here atm as it gets light so late! Suppose will improve.

mapleleavesreturn · 02/02/2022 10:11

Setter dog is not a fan of early morning walkies either, he considers sub 7am to be frankly beneath his dignity. Can only hope he changes his mind as it gets lighter as he's bulldozing my Panglossian plans to start the day off with good steps!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 02/02/2022 10:15

I ended up getting caught up with chores so planning a lunchtime run instead. During the first lockdown DH and I used to get a pre-work walk in, it really was a good start to the day. Got out of the habit though. Need to try and work that in now it's lighter. Though it will be tricky with the return to the office!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 02/02/2022 10:19

Thanks @WouldBeGood I'm pretty chuffed. This is me back to the weight I was at the start of the pandemic. I had really plateaued at this point in late 2018 after losing around two stone over a long period, but I wasn't really consistently putting in the effort on the healthy eating front. Feeling much more motivated now.

WouldBeGood · 03/02/2022 08:57

@mapleleavesreturn setters are the best!

WouldBeGood · 03/02/2022 13:01

Today I managed to get on the Wattbike with no comedy incidents, and connect it to my phone! Feeling proud 🤣 Though it was very boring! Managed about 10kms. Better than nothing!

mapleleavesreturn · 03/02/2022 13:24

10 kms sounds amazing! I managed to lollop to the park so optimistic about hitting my 10k steps goal today!
