Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 12/01/2022 10:47

But two pounds a week is half a stone by early February!

My new motivation is a wedding invitation for June. Family of glam young things… 😱

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/01/2022 07:48

Ooh I love a wedding @WouldBeGood. Everyone I know who is likely to get married has done so already and I'll be decrepit by the time all the children in the family get round to it!

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2022 07:59

Me too, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo 😃 This is DP’s best friend’s daughter, so a bit tenuous, and I won’t know anyone, so would like to feel confident and not like a balloon. I’ve decided if I do lose the weight I’ll treat myself to a proper nice frock

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/01/2022 19:20

That's a good incentive @WouldBeGood! I'm a bit annoyed with myself for procrastinating earlier when I should have done a class so will have to make up for it over next few days. Pretty low on the calorie front though so not all bad.

How is everyone else getting on?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/01/2022 14:28

Come back you all, I have lost 2.5 pounds this last week and I need somewhere to share it! Grin

WouldBeGood · 19/01/2022 15:23

I’m here @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo! And bloody well done!

I’ve been sticking religiously to my eating plan, calories and protein. So I’d better have lost weight on Friday!

Been gym two days and spin today. Trying hard!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/01/2022 16:23

Thank you! Well done on the eating plan and exercise too! How are knees bearing up?

WouldBeGood · 19/01/2022 17:12

Thanks. Knee is still dodgy but hopefully this will all help.

rookiemere · 19/01/2022 17:20

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo .
As people can probably guess from my silence, not been doing so well at this end. Scales were reasonable last week, but since then it's been DHs birthday and out to Thai last night for friends leaving do. Still off the chocolate though!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/01/2022 19:02

Thanks @rookiemere it's tough when you have social events. We've got a few this weekend so I'm hoping I st least don't put anything back on over the next seven days! Well done on staying off the chocolate though, it all helps.

Fingers crossed for your knees @WouldBeGood. How are you finding spin?

WouldBeGood · 19/01/2022 19:03

It’s quite good, and seems to help!

Also trying the Wattbike in the gym - I cannot work out how to get my bloody feet in the pedals though so it’s a humiliating slapstick style exhibition 🤣

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/01/2022 19:08

😂 I had to use the wattbike at a health check last year, I seem to recall getting on it was a bit of an effort before I even started!!

WouldBeGood · 19/01/2022 20:10

I was certainly sweating @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo 🤣

WouldBeGood · 20/01/2022 09:21

Went to a friend’s house last night and had no wine! This is historic for me. I brought a measured vodka and slimline tonic, and it would have been rude not to sample two wee whisky tasters, but home sober and within calories.

Sharing here as DP is just sarky with me when I tell him how Very Good I’ve been 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/01/2022 09:53

Oh that's very good @WouldBeGood! I have started getting in zero alcohol beers to have with the odd meal I would normally have a beer with e.g. curry. It's amazing how fewer calories it has. We've been trying a few 'fakeaways' from pinch of nom at the weekends and alcohol free beers work well with that and leave calories spare for wine later on

rookiemere · 20/01/2022 13:25

Well done @WouldBeGood I should have a vodka and slimline tonic rather than my wine with meal tonight but balked at the price of spirits, but it's a good one to remember.

WouldBeGood · 21/01/2022 12:09

Guess what?!! Despite a stressful night last night which led to wine, I’ve lost 3.31lbs this week!

mapleleavesreturn · 21/01/2022 13:07

Oooh that's impressive would! I'm feeling a bit better in myself and eating better but weight loss so far amounts to about 2 lb since cutting back, but my steps are up and it's a long term thing.

I did 4500 steps yesterday which is a lot better than my usual 400!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/01/2022 18:15

Woo hoo @WouldBeGood that's great, well done.

And well done on your 2lbs to @mapleleavesreturn, nowt wrong with slow and steady.

I have just done a bodycombat class and have wine on my meal plan for the day! Though I do have some birthday celebrations over next few days, so staying in my weekly calorie goals is going to be a challenge this week!

WouldBeGood · 24/01/2022 19:44

Saw a consultant privately about my knee today. He thinks the physio is talking shite. He thinks it’s a meniscus tear, and says I need an MRI. I’ve booked one, but it’s £400 and I’m feeling really really fucked off with our saintly NHS.

He heard what I’d the guy said to me, and told me he wasn’t surprised I didn’t have confidence in the NHS.

I could try ringing the GP, but it’s forbidden in Lanarkshire except in emergency 🤷🏻‍♀️

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 25/01/2022 08:12

That is good news you got to see someone about the knee, but shite about the physio and inability to speak to your GP.

I am fortunate in that I have private health via work, but was once told by my gp in relation to an injury that the nhs pathway dictated that he would have had to prescribe me 6 months of anti-inflammatories before sending me for an MRI. Because I had private cover he could refer me straight away and funnily enough I didn't need anti-inflammatory tablets!

I have just had a weekend of over indulgence due to family celebrations so I am mostly hoping that I have at least not put any weight on this week!

WouldBeGood · 25/01/2022 10:25

Thanks @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo. That's a long wait- I guess I’ll bite the bullet, as at least I should know them what it is.

Sounds like you had a good weekend! I have PT later and have blown up my bike tyres so I can use that for if I need to pop to the shops.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 25/01/2022 17:05

It was a great weekend, but I am broken now! Tomorrow is weigh in day and the start of a new week though, so I'm just limping on till then.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/01/2022 12:22

So I put on 3/4 lb this last week, but given the blowout at the w/e I am ok with that. Just need to keep on it this week. I was going to go out for a run at lunchtime but it seems awfy cold and blowy so will do a class after work instead!

WouldBeGood · 26/01/2022 13:24

That’s ok, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!

I can confirm it is Baltic out there! Tried to take dog out but she wasn’t for it 🤣

Going to try go gym and go on bike there after work.
