Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

Good thinking @rookiemere, especially as I don’t really crave chocolate. Probably more than one as it’s 438 calories!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 08/01/2022 12:06

It was good...

Off on an attempt to restart C25K before we go out. I have banana pancakes on the planner this week @rookiemere

For cinema - Mail meal for a late lunch, something lighter when you get home? Small salted popcorn at the cinema?

Good luck with the new diet @WouldBeGood - it'll be interesting to hear how you get on!

rookiemere · 08/01/2022 12:18

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo banana pancakes were delicious (one egg one banana) particularly with crispy bacon on top Blush.
We're having a takeaway after the cinema, probably Indian so I'll get something veggie and try not to eat during the film.

runningpink · 08/01/2022 13:15

No exercise yet. But I will get some done this afternoon.

I failed at parkrun and got cake at the cafe! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Ooops!

@runningpink i think cake at the cafe is exactly what any doctor would prescribe for you, so just enjoy.

I'm feeling proud of myself I have made lamb koftas from a simply cook recipe to heat up when I come back from the cinema and bought some bags of low cal popcorn to munch.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 08/01/2022 19:02

I was very restrained at the buffet today at family gathering and turned down several offers of drinks but still managed to rack up over 1000 calories. Oooft. Will only have a light healthy snack tonight though (as despite the calories, I'm actually hungry!!) and it will hopefully balance out over the week. It was an eye-opening lesson on how the calories can really stack up at the buffet table - a pork pie here, a slice of bread and pate there...

mapleleavesreturn · 09/01/2022 13:43

That's what's scary about calorie counting - two meals looking roughly the same size can vary so much. Always shocked by how high calorie a few chips can be.

WouldBeGood · 09/01/2022 14:28

51 calories per Cadbury’s hero is one that shocked me!

mapleleavesreturn · 09/01/2022 15:51

oh yes, it's just a couple of chocolates and then you add it up and realise you've wolfed down a regular sized mars bar's worth.

Still on track here, the meal replacement sludge I'm having for lunch does seem to keep me full til dinner so I'm keeping on with it but it's definitely a suitable hair-shirt for Christmas over indulgence.

Scales going in the right direction on day 4 - think about 6 weeks to get my BMI back into the normal range if I keep on track.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/01/2022 17:55

I've redeemed myself today - had a healthy-ish brunch at home, went for a 15k walk and we're having a healthy dinner. We bought some alcohol free beers as a treat for our walk to have with dinner.

Wednesday is my weigh in day, but I did have a wee peek on the scales Friday morning and they seemed to be going in the right direction so fingers crossed!

WouldBeGood · 09/01/2022 19:45

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/01/2022 11:59

Thanks @WouldBeGood

51 calories. For a Cadbury's hero Shock

We a couple of bars of large toblerone left from Christmas - DH said each triangle was 150 cals or something. It really makes you think.

WouldBeGood · 10/01/2022 12:04

It really does. Scary!

I stuck to my diet yesterday, no alcohol even! So calories left - will save for weekend wine. I’ve been to a half hour spin class, then weights with PT. (False alarm on the covid stuff). I’m feeling quite positive on this, hope it lasts! Focussing on how I could lose a stone by the end of February, and three by the end of may if I stick at it…

Hope everyone is doing well

rookiemere · 11/01/2022 08:37

Weighed myself this morning- scales are stuck on a too heavy weight Sad.
I've not eaten chocolate since the start of the year so I feel the pounds should be dropping off, but no they're not.

I need inspiration for tasty low calorie snacks.

WouldBeGood · 11/01/2022 08:44

Itsu miso soup sachets are good,(about 40 cals) add ginger or chilli. And the noodle pots (207) : you can add cooked chicken or veg or hard boiled egg for extras.

WouldBeGood · 11/01/2022 10:39

Been to spin. It’s the nearest I get to out out now 🤣

rookiemere · 11/01/2022 11:35

Oh I like miso soup @WouldBeGood and I could add some gyozas for a lunch.

I've given up on spin for now too worried about catching covid in the enclosed sweaty space and DS having to miss his prelims

WouldBeGood · 11/01/2022 12:00

Sounds good @rookiemere

The thin bagels are good too 130 calories. Morrisons do a really nice light soft cheese with black pepper. Add a slice of low fat ham

I’ll stop now 😃

Shame about spin. I don’t have much choice given knee problem, but I’m hoping it will help that and then I can do the things I like more. DS just in second year though.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 11/01/2022 17:51

Good work on the chocolate @rookiemere. I hope you're not too despondent about the scales, it can definitely sometimes take a few weeks for the dual to move depending on water weight, time of the month etc. I had one triangle of toblerone last night but I savoured it for ages. 160-ish calories. If I hadn't been counting religiously I would have had 3 pieces and felt a bit sick

Thin bagels are good. I have bought some ryvita to have with a smidgeon of cheese or Philadelphia light and we made some Bombay chickpeas the other night. They were somewhat lacking. A small portion of salted popcorn isn't too bad. I sneaked a borders buttery sultana biscuit today while in my office (wfh definitely helps limit treats) which was only 51 cals.

Well done on saving calories @WouldBeGood. I think I am going to come in at being around 400 calories over for the week by the end of today (I'm doing Wed- Tue, with weigh in on Wed), but comfortably in credit when exercise calories factored in, although I'm trying not to rely on those. So will see what the scales say tomorrow...

mapleleavesreturn · 11/01/2022 18:45

A bit over today - bloody meal box didn't turn up so takeaway but generally going well, no wine for a week!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/01/2022 07:54

That's a bit rubbish @mapleleavesreturn but great willpower on the wine.

I've done my weigh in - 2lbs down on week one. Woo hoo!

mapleleavesreturn · 12/01/2022 08:22

Congrats on the 2 lb, that's my weekly goal

WouldBeGood · 12/01/2022 09:57

Well done @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo! That’s also my weekly goal.

Impressed on the no wine @mapleleavesreturn! I’ve been better but used up some of spare calories on a couple of delicately sipped drinks last night.

mapleleavesreturn · 12/01/2022 10:17

It's been hard - weighed myself and frankly I'm amazed the results aren't better given the reduction in consumption between the last 7 days and before!

Well, it's a slow game alright.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/01/2022 10:30

Slow and steady @mapleleavesreturn !
