Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

I'm easing myself in and went back to week 5 of C25K today. After a couple of weeks of noting but eating and drinking it was very hard! A proper old lady shuffle. But I did it.

Still have a mountain of cheese and pate to get through before full on healthy eating starts though.

runningpink · 02/01/2022 19:29

Iv Scoffed all the chocolates.Oops!

Made a meal plan and written down the exercise I plan to do this week.

Although I was out today and fell so hoping the aching will have eased off by tomorrow so I can do the exercise I have planned.

How's the aching today @runningpink?

Just sat down with DH to do the healthy eating meal plan for the week. Lots of veg packed in and back to home made soups. I think it will be next week before we are fully back on it, but it's a start.

Grim weather today so hoping to do a class at home a bit later on.

runningpink · 03/01/2022 13:17

Not as bad as I was expecting. Went out a walk before the monsoon started! So that’s 5k in the bag.
Plan to go on turbo this afternoon for a bit.

Well done on the meal planning. I need to go to the shop but it’s so yuck outside I don’t really want to!

runningpink · 03/01/2022 14:21

I want chocolate so bad! I’m determined to be good though

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/01/2022 18:22

I ate some chocolate Blush I'm still in holiday mode. But I am about to do some bodycombat!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/01/2022 21:00

Did some bodypump yesterday and a family walk today. Tomorrow is back to work, back to my fitness pal tracking, healthy eating, no midweek wine and the post christmas weigh-in Shock

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 05/01/2022 08:03

Braved the scales -around four pounds on over the holidays. Sad

So goal 1 - shift the Christmas weight and then hopefully keep going until I get through the lockdown pounds!

runningpink · 05/01/2022 21:12

4 pounds isn’t too bad. But that’s a good plan to shift those pounds as your initial target.
Hope first day back at work went ok for you?

Since 1st Jan I have Ran 20 miles, walked 19 miles and cycled 10 miles. Smashed my 15k steps a day average.

Need to work on my water intake and have better meals. But for now my priority is no chocolate etc

Even went to do a food shop this evening and don’t buy any junk. Not even for the drive home!

OP posts:
runningpink · 06/01/2022 06:55

Ooops walked 9 miles!

OP posts:
rookiemere · 06/01/2022 07:13

I'm rejoining if that's ok. Pre Christmas healthy eating didn't last long, but I'm determined to lose some poundage as I'm at peak fatness.

No chocolate since the 1st Jan - it's so hard as chocolate is my nemesis- less sugar overall and mostly fruit in between meals. I've been weighing myself every day which is probably overkill.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 06/01/2022 08:09

Welcome back @rookiemere and great work on the exercise @runningpink.

I was pretty good on the calories yesterday, did a bodycombat class, no wine, and drank lots of water so I felt quite virtuous. I'm doing a 7 day free trial of the nutracheck app and considering it as an alternative to MFP though it's paid for.

mapleleavesreturn · 06/01/2022 12:46

Sidles back in - right, determined to get a grip on my crisp, chocolate and wine habit this Jan and somehow find time to exercise.

Don't ask me why I bought a discounted meal shake - just 'enjoyed' it for lunch, grim.

rookiemere · 06/01/2022 13:07

@mapleleavesreturn was that Huel ? Even the name sounds revolting like a mishmash of huey and gruel.

I figured if I cut out the majority of snacks and all
Chocolate I should be able to eat reasonably sized meals. But let's see how it works out.

mapleleavesreturn · 06/01/2022 13:10

It wasn't huel (which my phone thinks should be hurl) it was something called 'abnormal' that I was sent an offer for and signed up to in a weak post new year moment! Not keen so far, I'd rather eat the same calories in soup.

If I miraculously start feeling amazing I'll report back!

Yes, not eating a diet of chips, wine, chocolate, and crisps should probably sort me out!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 06/01/2022 18:24

A colleague used to rave about huel (back when I was in the office to have idle chat), it sounded a bit grim.

Sounds like we are all on a mission to cut the snacks first of all. DH is going to roast some chickpeas for us at the weekend as a healthier alternative to crisps. I shall report back...

In the meantime, I've just done a Les mills core class for the first time in ages. It was so bloody hard. I think my core got lost among the Christmas wrapping and has been discarded. Off to have salmon, pak Choi and rice for a healthy dinner.

runningpink · 06/01/2022 18:52

I have failed this evening. Got some sad news today so have reached for the sugary junk food.
Bailed on my class and haven’t hit my steps today.

Welcome back @rookiemere

OP posts:
rookiemere · 06/01/2022 18:55

Hope your news wasn't too bad @runningpink .
I'm finding today hard as well, but I'm bloody determined not to eat the chocolate. I'm not sure that eating spoonfuls of almond and coconut butter is much better calorie wise though Blush.

runningpink · 06/01/2022 19:16

A friend sadly passed away. 😢

I will call today a blip and get back on it tomorrow.

It’s hard to be good and motivated when the weather is so yuck.

OP posts:
WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 06/01/2022 19:22

Oh I'm sorry to hear that @runningpink I hope you're ok. Definitely not a day for worrying about chocolate and fitness classes.

rookiemere · 06/01/2022 19:23

Sorry to hear that @runningpink . You should definitely be kind to yourself tonight. I'm eating tinned pears in an effort to not eat anything else.
I've discovered a new found appreciation for tinned fruit- tastes almost as sweet as something bad for you, but if it's in juice not syrup very few calories and almost as nutritious as fresh.

runningpink · 06/01/2022 19:50

I’m just in shock as I wasn’t expecting it.
I will be fine tomorrow

I’m going to have an early night and read my book.

Oh yuck even the thought of tinned fruit doesn’t sound appealing! But well done on finding something that works for you.

WouldBeGood · 06/01/2022 22:12

Oh, hello, hadn’t realised you were all back!

Awkward backpat @runningpink 💐

I’ve been ok on exercise, been PT, couple of spin classes and kettlebells. Got PT tomorrow Abd have asked him for the diet plan he said he’d give me- time to commit. Though I think I’d be fine if I quit wine. Really need to lose weight for health (knee🙄) as well as vanity

titsintiers · 07/01/2022 06:28

Morning all. Sorry to hear about your friend @runningpink hope you're feeling ok today.

I'm back in the healthy eating program as I had a very indulgent December. Marvellous as that was, it's very much time to sort it out.

I've not started the exercise yet but did start with keto on Wednesday. Down 2 pounds so far so can't complain. Dry January should keep me in check too.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/01/2022 07:40

Hello @WouldBeGood and @titsintiers

We're not doing dry January but aiming to cut back on the wine. I'm calorie counting using nutracheck and have put the alcohol calorie tracker on my daily diary in the hope that will be a disincentive to over-indulging!
