Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo i buy the gyozas from the frozen section of the supermarket.
I'm very excited about Barcelona Smile flights and hotel were super cheap, can't wait to get away. Also have London trip before that - friend has sent me a link to a restaurant that only serves Steak Frites - how on earth can I lose weight?

shouldistop · 28/10/2021 13:56

Urgh didn't go to the gym. I've got an upset stomach. Feel like I've been ill for weeks now!

Ds1 is having a friend round after school as well. Hopefully my tummy clears up in the next 30 minutes!!!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/10/2021 15:34

I'm going to have a look for gyozas. Oh I'd love a cheeky weekend in Barcelona. We have a weekend of festive activities planned in London in December. Can't wait.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/10/2021 15:35

Hope your tummy is better soon @shouldistop!

shouldistop · 29/10/2021 08:15

Upset stomach didn't come to anything thankfully.

10st13lbs this morning!! I've not been under 11 stone since maybe 2013. I've completely lost my double chin. I think that's 19lbs lost in 2 months.

@rookiemere aw Barcelona, amazing. I've never been but it's been on my list for years.

rookiemere · 29/10/2021 08:30

Fantastic @shouldistop , I remember the last time ( a few years ago now) I got under 11 stone and how great I felt, well done you !
I've weighed myself and I'm back down to 12st 1 - really need to keep the impetus going so I can get below 12st - right now I'd be delighted with a number beginning with 11 Grin !

I'm very excited about Barcelona, we went many years ago when we were courting and DH worked there for a period. We could have gone to Lisbon which neither of us has been to, but because I've filled in the Spanish Passenger Locator form and we know that the Spanish mask wearing rules are the same as Scotland, it felt like an easier choice for a weekend.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 29/10/2021 09:32

Oh well done @shouldistop that's amazing. You too @rookiemere. I am still on 11 5 this morning, so less than last week, but more than pre-holiday. Fingers crossed for an improvement next week.

I was in Lisbon last week for the first time - it was amazing. I'd absolutely recommend for another time. Mask rules also pretty similar to here and the PLF was easy (much quicker than the one to come home).

I'm pretty pleased with my exercise efforts this week. Despite them being a bit more sluggish than usual, I managed bodypump x 2, bodycombat, core, and couch 2 5K x 2. Bodycombat later today for the win or rather, wine.

traintraveller · 29/10/2021 15:21

shouldistop Well done, that's a great loss

shouldistop · 30/10/2021 07:54

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo wow that's a lot of exercise, you must be feeling great!

Im sore from yoga yesterday. She changes it up every few weeks so it doesn't get easy.
Ds1 has a birthday party today, dh is going to take him and the baby over (it's quite a distance so he'll just stay). That means I've got a couple of hours for gym & swim myself 🙌🏻
Dh has lost about half a stone recently and been doing weights at the gym. I spurred him on Grin

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 30/10/2021 08:40

Thanks @shouldistop - I mostly just feel sore Grin I'm a bit frustrated that my calorie burn and ability to keep up in classes isn't what it was a month ago, but I'll get there. I'm still working from home so I feel like I need to max the exercise in the week to make up for missing out on calorie burn from being out and about.

Well done for your DH, mine has lost a bit too, though it seems to be much easier for him than me.

I still can't sit cross legged without discomfort to try the 30 days beginner yoga again so I know have a physio appointment next week. I think maybe it's something to do with my hip mobility/alignment.

ElephantOfRisk · 31/10/2021 08:43

Remember that your calorie burn will be based on your weight too, so as you start to be carrying less pounds, you'll not burn as many. Though technically you should be able to put more effort in as you are lighter.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/10/2021 18:33

Thanks @ElephantOfRisk - it's definitely due to feeling a bit sluggish after a few weeks of having a cold, generally being run down. I just need a few weeks of concerted effort to build my fitness back up.

Though between the weather and chores at home little activity or heathy eating this weekend!

WouldBeGood · 31/10/2021 21:04

I am feeling exhausted! Despite little exercise this weekend.

Tomorrow I have a telephone physio appointment for my knee, then vigorous class, and also need to jog at least 1km as I’m doing 30k in November for the Samaritans

runningpink · 01/11/2021 17:11

Oh blinking heck, have just been at the nurse to get my yearly blood pressure check. I’m 72kg! 😩
I’m sure I was around 65/67 at start of year.

I will hit my steps by the end of the day. Done 30mins on the turbo and two Pilates classes.

Tomorrow plan to push myself to a 10k run and maybe another zwift session. Then an evening class

Food wise I’m still rather rubbish but I will hopefully have a kitchen again by the weekend so think that will help.

Well done to you all who are losing weight! Very impressed.

WouldBeGood · 02/11/2021 09:23

Sounds like you’re doing well @runningpink despite your shock! I’m too scared to find out how much I weigh.

Trying to jog at least 1km a day this month for a charity thing. Must get arse in gear and go. I’m disappointed: had to cancel yoga for boring house repair reasons. But plenty to do!

My podcast yesterday told me that getting cold enough to provoke shivering (briefly!) is good for fat burning… can I bear to try it..? 🤣

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 02/11/2021 14:56

No headway on the weight here despite being so good last weight. Sabotaged by the weekend again. I'm not even THAT. Bad at the weekend... Hmm

Not off to a great start this week - but I also had a telephone physio appointment yesterday, so seeing someone about the hip pain I'm experiencing when trying yoga next week.

Just back from a funeral, contemplating a run as it was a tea and sandwiches affair rather than a boozy raucous wake. When the time comes for people to celebrate my life there better be champagne...

Do you've to do 30k over the month? That's good, I might get involved!

I jogged for 20 minutes on the treadmill yesterday. Averaged about 8kmph. The sweat was pouring off me afterwards. Doesn't sound much but I could only manage 10 minutes a few weeks ago.

shouldistop · 04/11/2021 07:36

What running trainers do you have? I've been managing pretty well on the treadmill. I thought my ankle wouldn't hold up to it but it turns out being over a stone lighter helps Blush Thinking about trying jogging outside. It's a mile to the gym so it would be good to jog there and back.
WouldBeGood · 04/11/2021 07:38

That’s great @shouldistop!

Yes, it’s over the month so plenty time to get it done! Details are on their Facebook page.

It’s definitely inspiring me to get out and do a bit each day, despite my old lady knee problem 🙄

Yoga today. What’s everyone else doing?

shouldistop · 04/11/2021 07:39

Still 10st13lbs this morning.
I've eaten a lot of Halloween sweeties this week Blush Going for brunch with friends on Saturday but then planning to be really strict until Christmas. Would love to be 10st7lbs by Christmas. I go back to work in January, I was 12st 6lbs the last time any of my colleagues saw me.
Did yoga on Monday, 30 minutes in the gym & 20 minutes swim yesterday and will do yoga again on Friday.

shouldistop · 04/11/2021 07:41

@WouldBeGood dh is travelling so I'm solo with the kids, no chance for exercise.
School run, toddler group, school run, park, library. Exciting Grin

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/11/2021 14:02

Hi everyone. Not a brilliant week here with one thing and another, but I have just been out for a couch to 5k run so upwards and onwards! Not braving the scales this week, I think it will just make me miserable. I'm just going to focus on living healthily as much as possible until next week!

How was the knee physio appointment @WouldBeGood? I have a ropey knee, but a set of physio sessions made a really big difference.

That's a great weight loss since you last saw your colleagues @shouldistop! 10st 7 is my Christmas goal if I can stop sabotaging any good work

rookiemere · 04/11/2021 14:31

I've not been good - back into bad habits. Still keeping up the exercise - I'm pretty good on that front - but I'm such a huge lumbering runner, I know I could be a wee bit faster with some pounds off, but it's so difficult.

WouldBeGood · 04/11/2021 15:09

That’s good news @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo. I’m doing the exercises he gave me and have my real life appointment two weeks tomorrow. He also told me to put my feet up, literally 🤣 I think that’s helping. Yoga was good today too. I really hope it goes away soon though, can be pretty sore. Wrll done in the C25K!

Your day sounds pretty full on without exercise @shouldistop 😃

@rookiemere I think I’m a bit like you, disciplined on exercise, not so much food 😳 or wine

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/11/2021 16:22

Wine is my downfall. And weekend crisps.
