Thought a wee separate thread would be handy to keep us all going and for the kick up the bums we need, tips and motivation

Oh, that’s great @rookiemere, sounds worth all the hassle

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/10/2021 14:12

Hi everyone - back from Portugal. I'm hoping all the walking has compensated for the custard tarts, but I won't brave the scales until tomorrow!

Well done on the weight loss @shouldistop that's amazing. @WouldBeGood how's the sinus infection?

Contemplating getting back to couch to 5k later as it's so nice out. If a tad cooler than Portugal...

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/10/2021 14:13

Definitely come join us @rookiemere - I only joined the tread a few weeks ago and before a cold and a holiday I've just come back from it was definitely helping me stay on track.

shouldistop · 21/10/2021 14:16

I've done no exercise this week but I'm feeling better today so will do yoga tomorrow and gym/swim over the weekend.

Jealous of your holiday @rookiemere. I hate having my photograph taken too.

2 mums at toddlers this morning noticed that I've lost weight so that was a lovely confidence boost.

I had bran flakes for breakfast, 2 small chicken wraps for lunch and will have chilli for dinner. My mums bringing a big pot round as I've not been well and dh is out tonight.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/10/2021 14:30

Oops, sorry got the sinus infection mixed up - glad you're feeling better @shouldistop. Buy the bikini!

rookiemere · 21/10/2021 15:15

Currently on the beach debating if I should have one last pistachio ice cream ( just can't get decent pistachio flavour at home ) or be sensible and have nothing. Am thinking a sorbet could be a good compromise.

WouldBeGood · 21/10/2021 15:43

Sod it, get the ice cream. Holiday calories don’t count. 😃

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/10/2021 16:51

I hope you had the ice cream @rookiemere !

rookiemere · 21/10/2021 17:03

No ice cream yet ! DS has disappeared with his pal and I need him as an excuse to buy it

mapleleavesreturn · 21/10/2021 17:19

Mmmm pistachio icecream - eat it while you can. Grom isn't bad here but still...

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/10/2021 22:21

Gah, three pounds up on last week. Hopefully a little holiday water retention...

Back on the healthy leaving and exercise tomorrow! Who's got exercise planned this weekend? And did @rookiemere get her ice cream?

rookiemere · 22/10/2021 22:24

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo sorry I forgot to update. The nice ice cream place was closed and the one we went to only had carte d'or so I had a rather virtuous fruit cup instead. Somewhat spoiled by a takeaway curry tonight on our arrival back home.
Time for the dreaded weigh in tomorrow.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/10/2021 12:07

Ah, that's a shame @rookiemere. Hope the scales weren't too bad, this morning. But if this is the start of a healthy exercise/eating plan then it doesn't matter all that much.

Can someone tell me to shift my ass and do some exercise? I haven't restarted since coming back from hols. Though I had lunch with a friend yesterday and chose a healthy sounding salad. Small wins...

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/10/2021 12:10

Oh that doesn't read all that well about the scales, but hopefully you get the gist of what I meant! Never mind exercise, I could do with a nap...

rookiemere · 23/10/2021 14:37

I know what you mean @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Grin.
Parkrun this morning ( where I do feel a few pounds off might make me a tad quicker) and a worthy soup for lunch. 12st 3 this morning which isn't great. I've been hovering just over 12 for a few years now - so first goal is to get to a number beginning with 11.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/10/2021 16:19

Oh well done on the park run that is a good start. I've had a very lazy day on the sofa in my pj's but I'm going to attempt a C25K run now. I finished week 5 about two weeks ago I think so I'm going to redo that one.

WouldBeGood · 23/10/2021 17:22

Go @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo!

And well done @rookiemere! I’m still too scared to do a parkrun, but have signed up to jog 30km in November for the Samaritans as an easy push. DD doing it too.

rookiemere · 23/10/2021 17:26

@WouldBeGood I love parkrun, it's just irritating that due to my advancing years and extra poundage, I'm getting slower rather than faster. Too embarrassed to wear my 100 parkrun t-shirt as am hoping people will think I'm a rank amateur.

This dieting lark isn't going well, Out for chinese meal with friends tonight did suggest I took the car, but was persuaded not to. Still at least I've not eaten any chocolate today.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/10/2021 18:13

I think you have to ease in @rookiemere, I feel that technically I'm still on holiday until Monday, so that's when I'm going to properly get back on the healthy living train. But I did do my C25K run so that's a start!

runningpink · 23/10/2021 19:58

@WouldBeGood head along to parkrun. It’s the best thing about the weekend!
Did you mean 3k?
I was volunteering today.

Definitely coming down with something, hoping a good sleep and I will feel better.

Iv done 3 runs this week, hopefully another tomorrow if I feel ok. 3x Pilates and one fitness class.

Food wise still awful, also still no completed kitchen which is definitely making me worse.

So glad you had a nice holiday @rookiemere and @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo

@shouldistop you are doing amazing!

shouldistop · 24/10/2021 09:55

Urgh I've gained 2lbs Sad ended up eating crap the past couple of days. Gym and swim today and get my head back in the game.

rookiemere · 24/10/2021 10:05

Well done for volunteering at parkrun @runningpink . I haven't volunteered for while so I need to do that soon. I was put off after the time I was a tail walker and a lady fell over and then after she was sorted, I had to sprint for about a km to catch up with the next folk.

Not restrained at Chinese meal last night, wine also and the mint chocolate that came with the bill Blush. It's a bloody wonder I didn't eat the bill itself. Slept in this morning so missed Body Pump - will try to go to gym later.

runningpink · 24/10/2021 11:15

I love volunteering at Parkrun. I’m part of the core team so it’s a regular occurrence for me.
Give barcode scanning or timing a go, those are my favourite roles.

I definitely have the lurgy! Been a wee walk but plan to snuggle on sofa for rest of the day.

Don’t be hard on yourself @shouldistop you have done so well and will continue to do so

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 24/10/2021 11:55

Hope you feel better soon @runningpink.

Is your kitchen all done now?

You’re an inspiration in this thread @shouldistop, so don’t be hard on yourself

runningpink · 24/10/2021 12:03

No to the kitchen! 🤦🏻‍♀️
A relative is doing the kitchen in between his day job so it’s slow progress. Iv had enough now, it’s been a month of upheaval!

So do I, I don’t do being ill! And I have too much to do so don’t have time to be unwell.

It’s chucking it down here so at least it’s a good day for snuggling on the sofa. I have my heated blanket on which is nice and cosy!
