That’s a great phrase @mapleleavesreturn

It's frustrating for staff too. Last year I felt I couldn't leave a child as they hurt everyone around them including staff.

I taught the other children to hold up their hand and say "Stop" really firmly. It seemed to stop the child in their tracks at being told off by their peers.

I'd email the school office or phone the school and the teacher should hopefully be able to have a chat.

I've just posted my antibody test. Soooo sooo tired today.

shouldistop · 02/09/2021 16:12

So it seems the wee boy does have a diagnosis he's a p2 and doesn't have a one to one. I think it's really poor that he isn't being supported appropriately. He's now in his second year of the school with similar issues last year and no proper support in place.

mapleleavesreturn · 02/09/2021 16:41

I've seen that so many times - I bet it's really hard for staff too as often they're the face of things they are struggling to change.

Every incident reported will help to get more put in place, it's crazy that children have to get hurt for this to happen but I'm utterly unsurprised.

shouldistop · 02/09/2021 16:45

I'll have a chat with ds later and try to explain that he should still be kind but the little boy needs some help to play nicely so to ask an adult for help or if there's no adult around to move away. And if the boy hurts him or one of his friends he's to tell the teacher straight away.
I heard that he badly hurt a little girl ds is friends with and it's really upset me, the poor soul - I hope she's not frightened to go in now.

mapleleavesreturn · 02/09/2021 20:27

That sounds a good approach - I do think that the trouble in p1 certainly set the tone for some of the later problems.

Looking for some advice…

I absolutely hate the masks. I get panicky and anxious having to wear them etc
I have got by this past year by pretty much not going anywhere apart from a quick dash round the supermarket. Or a quick run into post office at a quiet time of day type thing.

My problem is that I have a couple of important things coming up (nothing fun/social) which I can’t get out of which would require me wearing a masks for 2+ hours which I just cannot do.

So my question is would I be unreasonable to obtain a lanyard to say I’m exempt. I would just use it in situations that I can’t avoid and are for longer periods.
I feel guilty even considering it but I just don’t know what else to do

Or any other suggestions would be welcome?

Sorry to hear your son is having a hard time should. I hope you can get it sorted

Whenisthisgoingtoend · 03/09/2021 06:34

I’d say absolutely get a lanyard @runningpink you can’t stop doing things you enjoy or need to do.

WouldBeGood · 03/09/2021 08:22

I feel the same as you @runningpink. I read the exemption rules and I am exempt, you will be too

How do we get the vaccination status on our phones?

WouldBeGood · 03/09/2021 08:51

I think that’s supposed to start today, @listentomydeclaration?

I’ll have a look

And typically its already unable to load! Brilliant system definitely worth that what 600k........🙄

Lockdownbear · 03/09/2021 09:06

Definitely get a lanyard Runningpink. I look forward to the day the pressure mounts and they scrap them altogether as I really think they are pointless but meantime get a lanyard - I've no doubt they'll be available on Amazon and Ebay. No questions asked.

I'm fuming about vaccine passports, really why should anyone know about my medical status. I'm double vaccinated but that's beside the point.

mapleleavesreturn · 03/09/2021 09:47

I find the sunflower lanyard useful, I'm always glad to see them to know someone might be finding it hard. My mum has got them.

Of course, they're not dickhead proof but nothing is!

Scottishskifun · 03/09/2021 10:36

So I'm wondering why on earth its taken 600k and over 6 weeks to put QR codes on a letter???!!!

There is no app, you just download the same letter to your phone....... Well done SG slow hand clap on yet again a waste of money when you could have just asked to be part of the original rUK app system....

rookiemere · 03/09/2021 10:40

@runningpink I'm broadly supportive of masks - for those able to wear them - but I would have no objection to you wearing a lanyard.

Few reasons- firstly I don't think masks are making much difference with the delta variant otherwise numbers would be a lot lower than they are, and secondly and related unless the masks are the proper ones and changed frequently I believe they are sod all use.

In England they are no longer required- I still wore mine in the supermarket, but more as a magic talisman rather than expecting it to do anything in particular.

mapleleavesreturn · 03/09/2021 10:44

The only thing that is fairly clear is that cloth masks reduce speech intelligibility so make it much harder for teachers to make themselves understood.

Don't say that on Twitter to US audiences though...

ADreadedSunnyDay · 03/09/2021 12:30

My issue with masks is that they make people shout to make themselves heard thus expelling a lot more aerosols .... still not recovered from the horrific school shoe buying experience.

rookiemere · 03/09/2021 13:12

Trying to buy new glasses - 3 ruddy pairs reading, sunglasses and distance- with a mask on proved "interesting ".

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 03/09/2021 13:14

running I see plenty of people with no mask, and no lanyard either. I might give them a wider berth, but apart from that, it doesn't impact on me. When we were in England on holiday recently, I sometimes just forgot to put mine on until I realised other people were wearing them. Nobody said anything, and if they gave me a funny look, I was oblivious.
Don't overthink it. Don't let it control what you do and don't do.

Groovee · 03/09/2021 13:33

I downloaded the QR code this morning for me.

shouldistop · 03/09/2021 14:33

Railing about this stomach bug. I managed a small dinner last night and thought I was ok so had a small breakfast and lunch today. I'm not ok, still have an upset stomach.
How long do I leave this before calling the doctor? Is there anything they can do anyway except tell me to drink plenty of fluids?

titsintiers · 03/09/2021 14:41

That's shit @shouldistop, hasn't it been going on for about a week now?

shouldistop · 03/09/2021 14:42

Started feeling under the weather on Monday I think but the S&D started on Tuesday.
On the plus side ive lost 5 lbs and kept it off all week 🤣
