@listentomydeclaration

Will restrictions be brought back as the SAS is under pressure?
I'm not sure if that would help as it's not covid patients so what would restrictions do? WHat they could do is stop all non urgent care - again - but that just kicks the can further down the road again and to be fair. they've probably done that anyway.
ElephantOfRisk · 16/09/2021 18:26

Thanks groovee, well done MrG, he will be tired and it's good to use the holidays. I waited all day for a call about my new laptop and still nothing. Maybe tomorrow.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 16/09/2021 18:31

Oh I've never been there although I hear the queso is amazing @Groovee

I used to live right next to it actually, but it wasn't a Mexican place then (am old Grin)

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 18:42

That’s good about Mr G @Groovee

Bad about unis.

And laptop @ElephantOfRisk

DS has done an LFT, negative. Though Christ knows the merit of them as they seem very tricky and dependent on the skill of the doer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Groovee · 16/09/2021 19:05
@Groovee did DS find out why they suddenly changed to online?
No clue. He said a few asked but no real answer.

ssd · 16/09/2021 19:07

Sorry just catching up

Thats good you're back at work @ElephantOfRisk, but take it as easy as you can and dont let them pressure you. Easier said than done i know. Shame about the laptop delay, they sound about as organised as my work...
@WouldBeGood, my ds had a really bad throat 2 weeks ago after a nightclub visit where 3 of his pals caught covid...anyway, sore throat, negative lft, then sore achey bones, throat still sore, negative pcr...felt like crap for a few days but 2nd negative pcr. IME the difference between a bad cold and covid is the loss of taste and/or smell. Ds never lost his but had most other symptoms.
Glad mrG is back at work too @Groovee

Plodding on here

Explosivefarts · 16/09/2021 20:40

Humza getting his karma was hilarious

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 23:14

Yes! And him and the SG acting all outraged 🤣

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 16/09/2021 23:25

No sense of humour. They could have just made a joke about it or graciously let it go and it would all have been forgotten quickly, but no... so it gets more plays just to piss them off.

Lockdownbear · 17/09/2021 01:10

Sorry I've been missing.
@OnceUponAWhine you'll make us all go too hell laughing at someone else's misfortuneGrin Good job he didn't need an ambulance.

I think it's an absolute disgrace that Scotland are having to call in the Army to help cover the ambulance service.

Really angry about that. At what point do WM say devolution isn't working and pull the plug? What happens if the Army are needed elsewhere?
Absolute disgrace.

Explosivefarts · 17/09/2021 05:58

He was clearly showing off on it. He was whizzing about like a kid. What did he expect to happen. I love the rage coming out of the SNP though. If only they had showed the same rage to the the racist tweets surfaced last week. By someone employed as the face of the government Covid campaign.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 17/09/2021 07:35

Thing is @Lockdownbear it's not only happening in Scotland, it's happening in all four nations.

Lockdownbear · 17/09/2021 07:44

I've not seen any reports that any other nation is calling in the army.

StarryEyeSurprise · 17/09/2021 07:59

The army are only helping with covid testing and vaccines to allow those from the ambulance service to return to the frontline. This has happened throughout the pandemic ( in Scotland and England).
WouldBeGood · 17/09/2021 08:04

Not to worry, she’s also said Humza is to address Parliament next week on the success of the SG’s handling of the crisis!

🤔

Scottishskifun · 17/09/2021 08:11

We are waiting today for the latest travel announcement to see if we go on holiday! I'm not too worried about Greece their numbers have been dropping and are considerably lower than England and definitely Scotland but am quite relieved to be flying through England!

I don't trust the SG to remove PCR testing on day 2 arrival for vaccinated people if England do given its taken them over 5 months to allow anyone but the government paid testing to be used!

titsintiers · 17/09/2021 08:54

🤔

Will he be wearing a clown suit to deliver said message?

Surely they should wait until the inquiry to be discussing any success?

Scottishskifun · 17/09/2021 09:58

@starryeyesuprise army will be driving ambulances as well so yes it is currently different.

It's a mess but hardly surprising for a govt that has ignored issues for so long and diverted money elsewhere. Drugs deaths for instance well they cut funding and have long been diverting funds!

Its no surprise that its in chaos and although they will love to point that it's all covid fault its not its been going on for years!

ElephantOfRisk · 17/09/2021 10:00

The army are only helping with covid testing and vaccines to allow those from the ambulance service to return to the frontline. This has happened throughout the pandemic ( in Scotland and England).

Eh? Have you got anything to back that up?

Ambulance staff have never been used nationally to complete covid testing or vaccination (other than vaccinating ambulance staff).

According to Parliament yesterday, scotgov haven't even decided what they are using the army for.

Given the crisis has been rising since the beginning of the summer it's not really about covid per se either, I mean, I know it's mismanaged and underfunded but if there were ambulance staff out in testing and vaccination stations do you not think that someone might already have raised this point and brought them back into service rather than leaving folk to die waiting?

However, if they want to get allocated any resources then they have all learned to shout "covid" as its the only thing that gets attention.

Scottishskifun · 17/09/2021 10:16

@elephantofrisk some ambulance staff were used for mobile testing units in more rural areas. This was at one point done by the army up here but that stopped and army were manning the no symptom testing sites. It also wasn't high numbers.
But the focus of the SG has been testing testing testing and ignoring the issues this causes pulling out vital health care workers from day jobs!

Apparently it's all covid we can all ignore the 4000 nursing shortage before the pandemic, lack of GPs or consultants for years!

But hey it will all be rosy when SNP achieve independence as clearly mismanagement of funding is all WM fault and all the failings from drug deaths, NHS chronic shortages, lack of teachers, education failings or social care is the fault of the govt that has been in charge of all these things for 14 years....... 🙄 Oh no its all Westminster and none of us should forget it! FFS.

Sorry rant over!

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 17/09/2021 10:44

I'm on to rail about fucking Uni AGAIN! Changed to 2 hours a fortnight (May have already moaned about this 😂)

I need to write to MSP's this morning. The disparity between Scottish and English unis is shite. Really wish a journalist would pick up the story and put a bit of spotlight on the issue.

ElephantOfRisk · 17/09/2021 10:44

Yes, that's why I said nationally ski as I thought there might be some use in rural areas but if a call came in it would be relatively easy to immediately divert the staff back to their role.

And I agree with everything you say but those with their blinkers on will continue to pretend the emperor is fully dressed.

Sturgeon is starting to look very stressed and angry. She must look at those below her and wonder how many brain cells they are able to muster between them. Apparently Angela constance has been brought in to resolve the drugs deaths, was she not demoted before for being incompetent?

sartorius · 17/09/2021 10:49

DH was watching 10 o'clock news with me last night (rare occurrence) when they were giving the COVID stats.
They announced 158 deaths in uk and had it on screen in large numbers.
DH said he wondered how many people in uk died of cancer yesterday?
Bet it's way higherHmm

ElephantOfRisk · 17/09/2021 10:50

Yes, DS2 had jumped through all the hoops and was about to get plastic surgery for his facial scars. Consultant left so everyone got thrown off the list and told to start the process from scratch in a years time, in the meantime, DS moved to uni and then lock down. I mean he would struggle to even get a gp appointment to kick it off again now, never mind then getting an appointment with a dermatologist and a referral and so on through all the professions required before finding out if there is actually a surgeon available at the end.

Never mind though as they didn't go over the wait list times as there was no wait list having thrown everyone off....

Lockdownbear · 17/09/2021 10:51

The Uni thing is ridiculous and really needs addressing. Covid isn't going away students can't be having a 3rd year of education disrupted.

ScoGov need to be held accountable to where NHS money has been going?
