Oh isurvive - that sounds awful. It's like we're no further on from last year... going over the same old ground/ same old "protections" when we were all told that was just until the vaccines had been rolled out, so we could go back to normal. I think you're being restrained just having fridged it, tbh. I'd have decanted and be halfway through the bottle...

I agree youcannot. I've given up assuming there is, or is intended to be, any internal logic. Surely if there was, JL would be crowing over each and every case at Transmt - because had the passports been in place, those may have been avoided (may not, of course, but at least it would be an argument). Do they even realise how messy it all seems to us plebs?

tigger1001 · 16/09/2021 11:47

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us

It's the confused logic I'd like to see them challenged on. I can't help thinking that Jason Leitch is arguing against himself a bit this morning. He says there are no signs yet that TRNSMT has caused a large increase in cases, and while it is a bit early, I suspect he'll be proved right on that - similar festivals in England didn't produce large spikes either. He then goes on to argue that vaccine passports (which weren't in place for TRNSMT, which he says hasn't caused an increase in cases) are absolutely necessary because of Scotland's case numbers. The case numbers that are now on the way down naturally, again without vaccine passports, as this infection cycle maxes out. By the time vaccine passports come into force (which, as discussed, don't guarantee you're free of infection as immunity wanes, and which also assume there's no such thing as natural immunity), our peak will in all likelihood have passed, making them extra pointless.
I totally agree with you.
Scottishskifun · 16/09/2021 12:47

Yes I did a day before the cough started when I had covid

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 13:09

Thanks @Scottishskifun. Aaaargh!

And now I hear we’re getting the Army in to deal with the ambulance crisis. 14 years on. What a shambles.

Of course it's 'largely due to COVID', despite medical leaders saying it's other things that are the bulk of the problem. It's not at all because of mismanagement in the 12 or so years before COVID running the NHS into the ground. It definitely has nothing to do with the well documented problems filling vacancies and people being encouraged to use other services even prior to the pandemic. Nope, it's all completely out of her hands and not the SNP's fault at all.
ElephantOfRisk · 16/09/2021 13:43

The SAS was working beyond normal all through the summer with virtually no covid patients, they are burnt out/stressed/working too many hours/getting injuries. The service has been reliant on overtime for many years but that's not sustainable and means that they are losing more than a person's normal hours when they are off, they are losing probably one and a third. A&E ambulance staff almost never finish on time as they could get called out on a job 10 minutes before finish time that takes them 3 hours and they can't ignore the call or ever finish early.

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 13:47

I certainly do not blame the ambulance staff!

tiredoftiers · 16/09/2021 13:58

Not sure its anything to do with the ambulance service and everything to do with overstretched NHS hospitals. Hospital full= patient having to wait in ambulance outside hospital.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/09/2021 13:59

Oh yes, I know @WouldBeGood, just adding to it not really being about covid. That's just another element. I think the restrictions played a bigger part and the mismanagement and underfunding for years is the main issue. I appreciate that folk call out ambulances unnecessarily but a warning from humza isn't going to change that but it might put off those who really need urgent care. Staff on the contact desks should be able to weed out who is urgent and who isn't but again, some people know what to say to get an urgent call applied.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/09/2021 14:01

that's part of certainly @titsintiers. However even prior to the current situation, A&E ambulance staff were saying that they were the busiest they'd ever been. It would be interesting to get some analysis of the reasons for call out in 2019 compared to now.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/09/2021 15:00

I'm laughing at Humza falling off a scooter - but on a serious note, putting the health service at risk...

KingsleyShacklebolt · 16/09/2021 15:32

That is the funniest thing I've seen all week.

He's obviously showing off as the wee aide next to him is running to keep up. Humza not impressed that the video was shared.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/09/2021 15:34

I've watched it too many times to count @KingsleyShacklebolt.

So amongst all the other things he can't do, he can't ride a scooter either.

That has cheered me right up. Pratfall.

titsintiers · 16/09/2021 15:56

😆 at Humza. What a fanny.

tiredoftiers · 16/09/2021 15:58

Its a mobility aid one, guess that's why his aid is running along side him carrying his crutches. To be fair it kind of looks like the front wheels broke while he was on it. Still funny video though.

OnceUponAWhine · 16/09/2021 16:01

And now I’m down the rabbit hole of all the responses under his tweet complaining that he was filmed. They are a must readGrin

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 16:07

🤣🤣

Will cheer myself by reading the responses

But he's wheeching along like nobody's business!? Those contraptions are supposed to be a walking aid, not a running aid. He was showing off, trying to go too fast, and made a tit of himself.

Then got the hump with people laughing at him.

KingsleyShacklebolt · 16/09/2021 16:57

Mind you, we know the SNP find Janey Godley funny, so their senses of humour are definitely questionable.

Groovee · 16/09/2021 17:10

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar

Where did you go for food *@Groovee* ?
We went to Wee Mexico. It's my fav place up there x
Groovee · 16/09/2021 17:15

Ds was ok about not going in but he would have like to see some people and have a change of scene.

@WouldBeGood hoping ds is ok.

@ElephantOfRisk glad back to work is going ok.

Mr G went back full time on Monday. He booked holiday for wed/Th/Fri 😂😂 but he's been really tired after work.

sartorius · 16/09/2021 17:41

@Groovee did DS find out why they suddenly changed to online?

listentomydeclaration · 16/09/2021 18:14

Will restrictions be brought back as the SAS is under pressure?
