@ElephantOfRisk my mum used to get an upset stomach every morning, I think caused by anxiety. Anyway, she started taking a fybogel every day and after a couple of weeks it stopped happening.

That's exactly what it is. I'm fine at the weekend and latterly was fine when I was off. I'll give it a chance to settle down and might take your mum's tip.

It's been particularly awkward waiting on IT to call at any given point whilst also needing to be in the loo.

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 09:05

Anyone had a sore throat as a starter symptom..?

OP posts:
shouldistop · 16/09/2021 09:25

Not as a starter symptom @WouldBeGood but when I had suspected Covid before tests were available I did have a very sore throat. My first symptoms were diarrhea, then cough, then sore throat and fatigue then slight breathlessness. I'd say my sore throat was the worst of it though.

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 09:25

Aargh! Ds has a sore throat. The day before my planned lovely weekend away…

OP posts:
shouldistop · 16/09/2021 09:28

It could be a bog standard cold as they tend to start with a sore throat.
I think ds1 is coming down with something, no symptoms of anything, just a mums 6th sense.

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 09:29

Yes, I’m hoping so. He’s off school.

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 09:30

It’s cos I predicted that Covid would strike us this weekend- Sod’s law!

Oh God. What a nightmare wouldbegood. It probably is more likely to be a cold if that's the only thing. Sorry to say, though, that a sore throat and a headache were the first symptoms I had. I put it down as having slept funny/ being slightly hungover - or coming down with a cold or something. I felt rather fuzzy for the rest of the day, and really tired in the evening. And the next morning woke up with chills/ fever. So probably keep an eye on him over today and see if he feels better. Fingers crossed.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today elephant Flowers

There's a video doing the rounds on Twitter of Nicola Sturgeon, really fluently and without missing a beat, answering a completely different question to the one asked. It's just bizarre. I know they have prepared questions at Holyrood (and Westminster for that matter), but does she not actually listen to what's being said?

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 09:55

I might have to -gasp!- test him as my ex is a bit Covid mental and probably won’t have him if it could be Covid. I’ll see how he is later.

@ElephantOfRisk sending good vibes 💐

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 09:56

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us I saw that! What’s even more bizarre is how no one else bats an eye. Par for the course, it seems

Though as we in the UK now have Liz Truss as Foreign Secretary we can be humiliated on the international stage as well as the Scottish one !

@WouldBeGood she can't be worse than Dominic Raab, surely! But yes, so many opportunities from both governments for embarrassment. Our health secretary thinks the best way to deal with the ambulance crisis is for people to not seek help. It's almost like we actively select for the least qualified people to run the country.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/09/2021 10:07

Thanks all, I'm waiting on a call to collect a new laptop which is getting built, so I'm not working yet today and therefore fine..

What a nightmare @wouldbegood, I hope he feels better soon and that it's not covid and you get your weekend.

Yes, seen the video of sturgeon, this is the 2nd time she's done that recently, clearly either doesn't give a shit or is preoccupied and checked out. Did murrel ever show at the conference?

mapleleavesreturn · 16/09/2021 10:08

I've had a sore throat as a starter for a cough that wasn't covid a month or so back...there are a couple of not covid colds doing the school rounds near us. Fingers crossed....

Time to start chugging the vitamins!

mibbelucieachwell · 16/09/2021 10:08

Ohhhh what a nuisance for you wouldbegood

Several of my pupils are ill with very bad colds. 🤞

mapleleavesreturn · 16/09/2021 10:09

elephant I admire the people I work with who have a life, don't live for work and don't take work too seriously, it's such a long slog. They're much better to work with. Your post made me have a panic about exactly how long I've got to retirement age, pah!

Glad you're not working today

WouldBeGood · 16/09/2021 10:12

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us have you seen her in the video when she talks about apples and cheese…?! Michael Spicer, the Man Next Door does a great one of it

Jason Leitch has said that transmt hasn't caused a covid spike......... Amazing I thought the incubation period was 10 days, and its only 3 full days since it finished. A bit of a premature statement, and why are the press not challenging it?

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 16/09/2021 11:01

That's crap @WouldBeGood

Jason Leitch can fuck off! I have just done my first teams meeting for this term of uni and it was every bit as shite as last year 😭 even the fucking sound of the joining a teams call gives me the heave.

I can go get pissed out my skull with no masks in the union tonight though so it's all good!

Also how the fuck do you find a work placement during "covid" 😂 has to be relevant to my degree (obviously) and allow you on site? Eh?

It's 11am and I've just put Prosecco in the fridge for tonight 🤦‍♀️

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 16/09/2021 11:15

It's the confused logic I'd like to see them challenged on. I can't help thinking that Jason Leitch is arguing against himself a bit this morning. He says there are no signs yet that TRNSMT has caused a large increase in cases, and while it is a bit early, I suspect he'll be proved right on that - similar festivals in England didn't produce large spikes either. He then goes on to argue that vaccine passports (which weren't in place for TRNSMT, which he says hasn't caused an increase in cases) are absolutely necessary because of Scotland's case numbers. The case numbers that are now on the way down naturally, again without vaccine passports, as this infection cycle maxes out. By the time vaccine passports come into force (which, as discussed, don't guarantee you're free of infection as immunity wanes, and which also assume there's no such thing as natural immunity), our peak will in all likelihood have passed, making them extra pointless.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/09/2021 11:29

But then, as numbers naturally drop, it will be hailed as a success for masks and passports.

More spin than the magic roundabout.

mapleleavesreturn · 16/09/2021 11:33

Not at all Kafkaesque. Instead of put out more flags we've got put out more masks.
