There are other elements apart from women's spaces to be considered too. By asking people to pretend that others are that which they are materially not, we get ourselves into all sorts of trouble.

Male HCPs will be able to carry out procedures on women even if they've specifically asked for a woman. Indeed, a lot of women probably feel unable to ask for that now. That's a lot of vulnerable women who won't access healthcare. Or domestic abuse shelters.

Women will once again be kicked down the pecking order at work (see Pip Bunce who is only a woman sometimes but still managed to win a women in business award).

Unfortunate enough to end up in prison? Hope you don't have to share a cell with a male sexual offender, but if you do, and you try to talk to someone about it, you'll be a bigot - and that's now against the law.

And sport? We all know what's happening there.

At the end of it all, women are being silenced and put back into their homes, just where a certain type of man likes us. And 'our' government is enshrining it in law, and making ringing a warning bell illegal.

It makes me fucking sick and if I could leave, I would, but thanks to Brexit, that's off.

What a time to be alive.

Well said @BlameItOnTheBlackStar

I’m not saying all man are predators. But I do value some spaces where I don’t have to be “aware” and assessing my safety. I don’t think this feeling can truly be understood without the lived experience of being a woman.

Everyone should be safe. But it’s not up to women to sacrifice their spaces.

It’s also resulting in ghastly homophobia, like being in the olden days.

The sport thing is just ludicrous too. I’m a big strong woman and yet both my older DP snd 13 year old DS are on a different level of strength

I’m on a roll, sorry, but I’ve just seen the footage from the Scottish Parliament where one of our esteemed government is asked to define a nightclub. For which they are proposing actual criminal legislation in relation to vaccine passports. Not a clue. It’s excruciating. She Googles frantically…

@ResilienceWanker, I used to work in the electricity industry when it was still nationalised. The stated aim was just not to be loss making. It was honestly a lovely place to work, full of very clever hardworking folk but when they started to have to sell electricity over the grid rather than just exchange it for monopoly money, it was a total revelation for some. Some of the staff were really really good at something they ever imagined they'd be doing from their wee control room that was more used to turning the tap on hydro stations when Coronation street had an advert break. I miss it but I'm sure there aren't so many folk going about in tweed jackets and sometimes, slippers nowadays

tigger1001 · 09/09/2021 18:19

@runningpink

Yes was the first time receiving the flu vaccine due to his age
From memory it is supposed to be 2 doses for the first vaccine for flu, then one annually thereafter.

I remember reading the leaflet and questioning the doctor and they didn't routinely give 2 doses initially even though that's the manufactures guidelines. But maybe they are being more thorough because of covid

OnceUponAWhine · 09/09/2021 19:19

Can’t decide if Janey G was the squirrel today to distract from the nightclub passports or was it vice versa?

Hang on. So they were able to close them for 18 months in legislation and everyone knew what a nightclub was. And then they didn't need masks for a bit, and then they did except while dancing and drinking, and everyone knew what a nightclub was. But now they're needing passports, suddenly they can't say what one is?! Is this the new "what is a restaurant"?
WouldBeGood · 09/09/2021 19:29

Have a watch @ResilienceWanker. I’d advise through your fingers

A plethora of squirrels. Maybe they were both squirrels to detract from the £500k wasted on the cheap power thingy?

I'm now imagining 20 squirrels doing the can can and Sturgeon and the rest shouting "we need more squirrels, they can still see some of the stuff we are trying to cover up..." Grin

WouldBeGood · 09/09/2021 19:54

And the legislation to remove protestors

OP posts:
BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 09/09/2021 19:55

Maybe there are no squirrels and it's just rank incompetence 🤷🏻‍♀️

ElephantOfRisk · 09/09/2021 19:57

Well it's rank incompetence too but squirrel watch adds interest to it.

WouldBeGood · 09/09/2021 19:57

It's my DDs I'm worried about. I'm not saying trans women are dangerous. I'm concerned that pervy men will gain access to women's toilets because we're no longer allowed to challenge anyone of male appearance. Anyone suggesting that dodgy men won't ever take advantage of this situation are being deliberately naive.
WouldBeGood · 09/09/2021 20:31

Teenage boys six times more likely to suffer heart problems from the vaccine than be hospitalised by Covid. *all really small though

Not to mention the much vaunted park playground renewal money amounts to every park being renewed in 48 years in Edinburgh.

If there was ever a time for upgrading outdoor play surely the pandemic is it.

That's scary, especially given the vaccines aren't giving lifetime cover. I really don't think they should be pushing it at secondary age kids.

There is no magic answer. Just pray they come through covid OK. We aren't going to dodge it forever.

ssd · 09/09/2021 21:19

This needs spoken about more. Teenage boys shouldn't be pushed into the vaccine.

WouldBeGood · 09/09/2021 21:26

Yes @ssd. I’m in a quandary as DS is 13. It’s not as clear cut as Nicola and Devi and Larry make out. He’s my everything

Yes it's not much is it, 6 months protection from getting a known variant severely. I don't think I'd be beating the door down.

runningpink · 09/09/2021 21:37

Thanks @tigger1001 I will pass that info on to my friend.
