And my guilty secret is the Good Witch series, and films 😳

I you don't mind a bit of violence, then I recommend Godless on Netflix. Don't be put off that it's a western/cowboy theme. It's one of the best things I've watched. More lighthearted Mrs Maisel on Amazon is pretty decent.

Downtown Abbey has just never appealed to me but I did cave and watch Bridgerton which was good.

shouldistop · 07/09/2021 12:48

I've seen schitts creek and good girls, I liked them too.

sartorius · 07/09/2021 12:59

Oh my god I've just heard the Janey godley advert on the radio!!
Who is that actually aimed at Hmm

I come in contact with some hard to reach families through my work who are unvaccinated. English is not their 1st language, they wouldn't have a hope in hell with that advertConfused

Rail news, not railing 😃 Budget rail company called Lumo to compete on East coast line to London with cheap fares

That is good news @WouldBeGood . I'm going through the torturous process of getting my lost holiday hours restored so that wee trip to London might be on the cards.

mapleleavesreturn · 07/09/2021 13:14

What minimum age do you think for downton?

Dd and I love the good witch, and those Christmas Prince films on Netflix - Netflix seem to have cornered the market in modern princess Christmas films.

Right that's my credibility shot!

Good news re cheap London rail tickets!

shouldistop · 07/09/2021 13:16

@mapleleavesreturn I'd probably say 12/13

mapleleavesreturn · 07/09/2021 13:26

That's what I was thinking should when I was at the cinema at the downton film I saw a lot of girls there with their mums but they were perhaps 14

Booked a test, turned up, massive queue ..gets a text to say its cancelled...queue doesn't seem to be dispersing
I had the audacity to get out my car to check and got yelled at
Gets back in my car waits a little while and no-one seems to know what's going on. I get out again to ask if they are not testing and should i turn around ..I get told I don't know wait in your car

An hour and a half after we arrive we get allowed to leave, when I ask what happened she just keeps saying please leave..jusr asked politely what happened. She says leave now!
Ds has already had covid badly and been jabbed so not likely to be positive..
But he can't go back to school till we get a result..sigh

What a carry on

WouldBeGood · 07/09/2021 19:13

@frasersmummy that’s truly shite

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 07/09/2021 19:21

That's rotten, entirely predictable that kids being back in school will mean more tests required - exactly the same as last year!

That sounds like not being able to cope at the centre. Hope you get a test soon x
OhWhatsTheDifference · 07/09/2021 20:23

Bloody hell @frasersmummy that's crazy!

ssd · 07/09/2021 21:24

Shocking

mibbelucieachwell · 07/09/2021 22:18

Wow frasersmummy that's awful. It's bad enough that the government hasn't organised an exemption pass for people who've already had covid but then to be treated like that.
I hope your DS is feeling much better tomorrow.

Callisto1 · 07/09/2021 22:25

That's really rubbish frasersmummy.

I need a rail tonight about this bloody virus! Our school is slowly imploding with more and more kids and teachers absent. DC1 has a replacement teacher, friend's kids just tested positive and the school has started mixing entire year groups. Why now?! We got an important memorial coming up and I'm so fed up with it all...

Scottishskifun · 07/09/2021 22:31

@callisto1 can you keep them off until after the memorial?

Unfortunately the SG not splitting out easing and schools going back enough has led to the perfect storm! It could be seen a mile off!

Callisto1 · 07/09/2021 23:05

I don't really want to keep DC1 off @Scottishskifun. They're so happy in school and doing activities. I couldn't really justify it for something they barely understand, after having every single school year in their life disrupted.

The memorial is over 2 weeks away still and if cases rise badly in England might be called off anyway. It just means a lot to FIL and I'm finding it all a bit hard with Covid and my own grief from a recent loss. Just needed to vent!

I think it's SG who said bubbles were no longer required.

But as others have said why they waited for schools to go back to scrap social distancing is completely beyond me. Ita like they hung to restrictions as long as possible but with furlough ending they needed to lift restrictions.

Sorry to hear about your grief Flowers

Ah right I thought it was closer, fingers crossed for you!

Vent away I think we are all feeling pretty similar just bonkers that they didn't spread it out which seems to have attributed big style to the crazy cases!

rookiemere · 08/09/2021 08:44

I'd like to rail about the media mentioning an October firebreak. WTF is a firebreak exactly- is it a lockdown and if it's not, how exactly will it reduce numbers?
Feels like Autumn 2020 all over again, only worse as testing every 5 minutes and vaccines not our salvation any more.

WouldBeGood · 08/09/2021 08:51

I’m good news, canceljaneygodley is trending on Twitter. 🤣

I don’t generally approve of cancel culture, but that ad merits it

OP posts:

Another name change looms!!!

rookiemere · 08/09/2021 09:05

Sorry @WouldBeGood i'm lowering the tone - will listen to my Audible rather than news in the car in future Grin.

I do hope they cancel the ads, they're super annoying. But then all the SG covid adverts are, so they'll just replace it with Jason Leitch looking glum but stoical.
