Are you saying that female officers would be expected to strip search prisoners with male genitalia? Surely that would be s form of coercive sexual assault on the officer?

334bu · 22/10/2021 19:45

What if no female officer was willing to do this, would this become a disciplinary matter?

forfucksakenett · 22/10/2021 19:45

No. Please read the post again.

Transgender officers or specially trained female officers who undertook the training by choice.

334bu · 22/10/2021 19:49

But what if there aren't any? Do they leave a prisoner with, perhaps a dangerous weapon, because there is nobody there to search them?

Sorry I didn't realise I was promoted to the head of the prison service. If I were though then no of course not. I'm not sure what wasn't clear about my original post.

If no woman wanted to then a specially trained man.

Why when I write that I believe in dignity for all your first suggestion is that by that I mean women would be forced to strip search transgender people and then face disciplinary action if they didn't.

This kind of overreaction is why this conversation on a national level is going nowhere.

No,I was merely pointing out some of the problems of including these male prisoners in a separate unit in the female estate, rather than a separate unit in the male estate where male prison officers would be available and security needs are catered for.

forfucksakenett · 22/10/2021 19:59

A problem that is not impossible to solve.

Perhaps not but, surely these problems have to be solved before transferring male prisoners into the female estate and until these stand alone units are available, women prisoners and officers should not be put in harm's way.

forfucksakenett · 22/10/2021 20:07

Is that happening imminently?

334bu · 22/10/2021 20:08

I have no idea but I do know that male prisoners have already sexually assaulted women in prison and that in Scotland female prisoners have had to share showers with fully intact males.
