Can’t believe it’s needed….

I haven't even thought about what to give nursery.
At Christmas they requested things that could be put into a raffle so all the staff would get something, rather than just those who work in the playrooms.
But leaving nursery I'm thinking wine.

Previously I used to buy tins of Quality Street / Roses / Hero's that could be opened and shared but don't think that's allowed with covid.

shouldistop · 30/06/2021 17:25

When he left his last nursery I made a hamper with cans of cocktails / pre mix drinks, bath bombs, mini candles & chocolates.
Maybe I should do that again.

A gift voucher is usually appreciated

runningpink · 30/06/2021 18:10

@shouldistop

Does he have a key worker or a particular nursery nurse that he really likes?
If so then a nice gift specifically for that person would be nice.
And some chocolates for the whole room to share.

If not then chocolate/wine/voucher for them to get cakes or something

The one thing that I appreciate more than anything was a card with some nice words of thanks.

shouldistop · 30/06/2021 18:17

The keyworker he'd had from when he started didn't come back after the last lockdown Sad he hasn't become particularly close to any of the staff since tbh. They're all great.

shouldistop · 30/06/2021 18:18

If I did vouchers would I get individual for each worker?

WouldBeGood · 30/06/2021 18:27

If it’s just a gift to all the staff, I’d do a nice picture he’s drawn for them, and a big box of nice biscuits.

Yeah.. so really what @runningpink said 😂

Depends how many staff in that room?

I’d be more inclined to do a group gift or voucher or it will get expensive

We once had a parent put some wine aside for us at the restaurant we were going to for a work night out. That was a brilliant gift and surprise. But guess no guarantee of that happening at the moment

shouldistop · 30/06/2021 19:50

It's such a small nursery they always usually have one room for all of the kids. They since split into 2 bubbles due to covid but since a load of term time only kids finished up they're back to one room!
I'll double check on staff numbers, there have been so many changes lately unfortunately.

shouldistop · 30/06/2021 19:53

I think there's 6 staff members including management.

Groovee · 30/06/2021 22:50

Most of my colleagues in nursery don't drink. I always dread it when I get handed a bottle of wine.

We got a few hand made cards with a quote from the child and a thank you from the parents, then a wee hamper of goodies.

I made all my colleagues a pamper bag. Got coffee sachets and hot chocolate ones on offer, face masks and a wee shower gel. Then a fun size chocolate. I got everything in home bargains for less than £20 including the bags.

Groovee · 01/07/2021 10:21

Another beautiful day. I'm off to get my hair cut. Rescheduled from last week. Hairdresser was ill.

Grass is getting cut. I'm already landscaping it 😂😂

shouldistop · 01/07/2021 10:25

@Groovee that sounds like a good gift idea.
Ds1 will definitely make his own card, we always do anyway as it encourages him to draw and write his own name - neither of which he's keen on.
Lovely day. Ds1 is currently glued to the tv, ds2 is napping and I'm trying to get on top of the housework, the place is a shit tip. We're meeting a friend at the park this afternoon so I don't mind the tv being on all morning.
Must get off Mumsnet and actually clean Grin

Anyone in the market for a last minute getaway (I know some were struggling) I've just been messaged about a cancellation at inside out camping at seatoller in the Lake District. For the weekend or week from Friday in a yurt. Looks reasonable. Not advertising as have no affiliation but thought it looked a good deal. Less than £100 a night for up to 5. We stayed here about 10 years ago.

Groovee · 01/07/2021 13:17

Oh I wish @ElephantOfRisk but it's too far for me to drive.

ElephantOfRisk · 01/07/2021 13:25

Yes, if DH was off work we'd be there like a shot. You can actually get the bus from Keswick which stops really nearby and presumably a bus to Keswick. The year we went the sun shone all day every day, we took the bus into Keswick and the one that turned up was an open top one - boys were ecstatic, they pretty much had it to themselves too.

Hope you and MrG are doing well Smile

Our favourite farm cottages in Yorkshire have posted availablity. Gutted.

Mr G starts working from home on Wednesday 😫 might Chuck him in the summer house.

shouldistop · 01/07/2021 22:44

I have a stinking cold, I don't have a continuous cough, fever or loss of taste/smell though. Wonder if I should test anyway. So hard to know. Also have terrible hayfever which is making it worse.
Was with my SIL at the weekend and she had a bad cold, said she'd tested negative so I assume it's just her cold that I've caught.

Haudyourwheesht · 01/07/2021 22:50

DH was saying it had been on the news that's loads of wee people had a cold with a cough but were testing negative. Ours had a chesty cough but no temp so we didn't bother testing them. We both test for work and were consistently negative so assumed if we were ok they would be.

ElephantOfRisk · 01/07/2021 23:15

Dh had a stinking cold thing last week, i had a milder version of it. He tests for work and was negative and I didn't bother since he was okay.

Lockdownbear · 01/07/2021 23:51

It was about 3 / 4 weeks ago DS1 & I got hit by a real stinker of a cold. Its the worst cold I've ever had in summer.

Although I was 95% sure it was just a cold we both got checked just to be sure

WouldBeGood · 02/07/2021 08:03

Another Covid update from herself today, I see 🙄 Better not mess up my holiday, dutifully booked for the motherland.

Hope you feel better, @shouldistop.

My hay fever is bad right now, and last time I had a cold it took ages to shift. Collective immunity is buggered through lack of socialising.

But, got my second jab this week so 🎉 to that!

shouldistop · 02/07/2021 09:04

@titsintiers I'm due mine in a couple of weeks!

@Groovee what time is she who must not be named on at?
