Can’t believe it’s needed….

Ah fuckitty bugger. I've woken up with a horrible headache, sore throat and temperature of 38.4. Have just done a lft which, I think is positive (v faint line, but definitely a line) and have ordered a pcr. And we just got back from holiday yesterday, so any contact tracing will be fun. Balls.

WouldBeGood · 02/07/2021 09:15

Oh no, @ResilienceWanker! Hope you feel better soon

SoMuchForSummerLove · 02/07/2021 13:51

Gah @ResilienceWanker that really sucks.

Fingers crossed you're just looking at a weekend on the couch.

ResilienceWanker · 02/07/2021 14:40

Thanks both! To be honest, a weekend with an excuse not to have to go out on a walk, or do something worthwhile, but lying about watching telly and being fed tea sounds pretty darn nice. Grin

shouldistop · 02/07/2021 14:47

@WouldBeGood feel a little better thanks. Was at a 5th birthday party today, I was one of the only parents that stayed. I didn't realise that was the etiquette, felt a little awkward staying but ds1 doesn't know the parents so didn't want to leave him.

shouldistop · 02/07/2021 14:49

@ResilienceWanker god that sounds amazing, I'm jealous. You know it's bad when you're jealous of someone with covid!

WouldBeGood · 02/07/2021 14:49

It’s so hard to know at that age @shouldistop, the drop or stay thing! Hope he enjoyed it and that you get a chance to chill now

OP posts:
shouldistop · 02/07/2021 14:55

He loved it! No chance to chill, off to the park now. Dh is out straight from work so on my own for baths and beds - luckily they're both relatively easy to get down.

ResilienceWanker · 02/07/2021 15:06

Nope... I'm not convinced I do have covid Wink (holding onto threads here of being able to go back to normal once I'm feeling less pants). DH reckons the LFT tests are pretty unreliable so you should do 2 to be a bit more confident, and the second was negative - and the first he said "well, if that was a pregnancy test I wouldn't be decorating the nursery". So who knows... Our test centre is a 2 mile walk, which I'm not keen on attempting at the moment, so I'm waiting for a home test. Which is at least 3 days of insideness.

Glad your cold is getting better! We all had one of those too a month or so ago. It was quite vicious, but again, no fever, cough or taste thing so we carried on, though held off a few activities for a couple of days as we didn't really feel up to them. Just like the old days Grin

5 is a tricky age for party etiquette! I THINK I stayed for most at that age, but I can't quite remember. DH and I have been watching Motherland in the evenings, and the various party episodes are really quite triggering to me on the drop-or-not issue...

Scottishskifun · 02/07/2021 15:11

@ResilienceWanker well fingers crossed its not covid and if it is you stay mild. DH recovered by the end of isolation just me who was bad and I had a lot of symptoms and a very long fever.

Groovee · 02/07/2021 21:47

Managed to get an Airbnb booked for the end of the month. We're off to the East Neuk. So excited as it's literally the next street from where I used to have my summer holidays as a child.

shouldistop · 02/07/2021 22:29

That sounds lovely @Groovee

Does anyone know what time the midges come out in the evening just now?

titsintiers · 03/07/2021 06:14

Lovely @Groovee hope you have a fab time, you deserve it

rookiemere · 03/07/2021 08:22

Hope you feel better soon @ResilienceWanker, it's rubbish feeling unwell without having to worry about contact tracing.

Enjoy your break @Groovee - one benefit of all this is it's absolutely wonderful to get away anywhere. We're just back from a blissful week in the less popular bit of the Lake District- we were so lucky and had fantastic weather, I couldn't imagine any other location topping it.

Quick brain pick please. So Majorca- I know to get in we need PCR for unvaccinated DS 15, but when coming back it's two tests isn't it one before the plane and one on Day 2? And is there still only one supplier for Scotland that they accept?
Not meant to be going until August tbh am hoping they go Amber again soon and then can sack off the idea until 2022. It will all be better in Summer 2022 - won't it Confused?

Railing against the fucking RMT, whose Sunday strike action means we can’t get the train up to Edinburgh as planned, so looks like massive car park bill. Fuckers

Aargh! And now the handy expensive car park is sold out! Double fuckers

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 03/07/2021 13:10

@WouldBeGood, i'd drive to outskirts and take the tram - there are also park and rides with the bus to the southside of the city. One at Straiton which is a straightforward bus into town.

I always just park near the stop at Saughton but you could probably also get on street parking near the Ballgreen stop

WouldBeGood · 03/07/2021 13:20

Thanks @ElephantOfRisk. I’ll take a look

@WouldBeGood I know it's not ideal but are they not laying on replacement buses?
ElephantOfRisk · 03/07/2021 13:56

Just put some dummy dates in this which might be useful:

I live near the bankhead stop and it often is where I park for the tram. Tram is easy to use. Buy your ticket on the platform from the machine.
ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 03/07/2021 16:01

Can I rail against the torrential rain?
Twice in 2 days is twice too often.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 03/07/2021 16:02

Yeah I'll join you.

I've got one week off work this summer, and it's meant to rain every day from now until I go back to work.

Angry
Groovee · 03/07/2021 16:23

The only good thing about rain is it means I can chill and not need to water the million plants I sorted during lockdown last year
