They really are throwing Hancock to the wolves then. I must admit to a slight soft spot for him - he seemed to have less psychopathic tendencies than the rest, but there he is shagging the staff.

The quote in the DM from a "friend" is hysterical though - apparently he broke no covid rules Grin, which is hysterical on so many fronts.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 25/06/2021 08:30

He's just so banal and standard-issue crap isn't he? Even mediocre in how his downfall is playing out.

Really, if you could force yourself to identify as pro Brexit BJ would give you a place in the cabinet.

shouldistop · 25/06/2021 08:33

My husband just showed me the picture of them kissing, put me off my bacon & tattie scone roll.

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 08:35

@shouldistop that’s serious 😂

Plus now I want one

A bacon and tattie scone roll, not a Hancock!

Facebook threw up some memories that I posted just after the Brexit results. Some article about being resilient- schadenfreude comes to get you - pah if only I'd known what was round the corner, I'd not have wasted a moment's sleep about it.

rookiemere · 25/06/2021 08:37

Ooh I've not heard of bacon and tattie scones together- that sounds like a good combination.

latissimusdorsi · 25/06/2021 08:38

apparently he broke no covid rules

Im sure his wife and kids will be relieved about that thenHmm

titsintiers · 25/06/2021 08:38

I feel for Matt Hancock's wife if she was unaware of the situation.

The uk govt is behaving like a bunch of randy teenagers.

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 08:54

Good of the gods, @rookiemere. Bacon and double carbs..

This!

But I also chuckle at the lines of using public funded money! All civil service is publicly funded and unless she wasn't doing anything at work other than shagging matt Hancock it's a bit of a stupid point to make!

It can't be him being thrown to the wolves, though. I'm really not convinced BJ is going to dump him on grounds of MHs morals bringing the government into disrepute!

He just wanted to show his boss how much he wants to be like him, demonstrated with a bit of work-related sagging. Bless him.

Grin at not breaking covid rules. Nope, exchange of bodily fluids with someone not from your household is right up there with all the FACTS.

ResilienceWanker · 25/06/2021 09:41

Aaargh. Shagging, not sagging. Though I'm sure he's been doing that too.

ResilienceWanker · 25/06/2021 09:42

God. Fancy that being your job description. Envy

ResilienceWanker · 25/06/2021 09:43

(pointing out that is DEFINITELY NOT ENVY)

riverrunning · 25/06/2021 09:50

Cannot believe the Hancock story - it's amazing he managed to get two gorgeous women interested in him! Sad for his wife.

ElephantOfRisk · 25/06/2021 10:17

I guess it depends on whether the shagging took place during working time and therefore they were both being paid from the public purse at the time?

I guess his nickname of wanksock was maybe not appropriate though? Grin

SoMuchForSummerLove · 25/06/2021 10:20

Isn't the point that she was his 'friend' as far back as uni and he employed her, which coming from this government just screams corruption. None of them give the smallest most remote shit.

Bahahaha appears to be a underestimated nickname!

Even if it was during work hours a senior aide would do way more then the contracted 40ish hours so can probably argue she was doing it in flexitime! 😂

Either way highly likely she will be sacked for misconduct and he will get to continue on his merry way in elected office such is the way of these affairs and scandals its always the woman who ends up getting the brunt of the punishment despite both parties being at fault!

Scottishskifun · 25/06/2021 10:31

Not really corruption it happens in every industry the phrase its not what you know but who you know is always true!

Think it might have actually been Dominic Cummings who paved the way for this type of thing as he said the civil service process for employing people especially aides should be ignored so that others could bypass all the usual levels etc.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 25/06/2021 11:30

I don't have current knowledge of civil service recruitment. However I am familiar with recruitment elsewhere in the public sector. There are always ways around the published procedures. Always. And I'm quite sure Mr Shapps was aware of that, even when he was saying the opposite.
Do they think we button up the back?

riverrunning · 25/06/2021 11:36

I'm not sure I see a lot of deeper meaning here except Hancock is a domestic sleezebag too, that shot of them kissing is incontrovertible proof for Hancock's wife.

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 11:56

I agree @SoMuchForSummerLove: it’s just more fucking corruption (literally!) and it stinks.

Moral vacuum

ElephantOfRisk · 25/06/2021 12:19

Is it not common right across the political spectrum to employ your partner/friend/lover/assorted relative as your assistant? I don't agree with it but i don't think it is party or level specific. I'm sure there have been all sorts of expenses type scandals involving paying people they know for services (of who knows what type).

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 25/06/2021 12:26

Just seen he won't resign and accepts he broke the rules but wants privacy for his family at this time.

That's nice Matt. Here's an idea don't hump your coworkers and you might find you can do your job.
