Can’t believe it’s needed….

I'm railing against even my Dr not knowing the covid basics so no bloody idea how they are supposed to be the bloody focal point as said by JL! I'm in a fever cycle (actually quite a common long covid symptom) and she asked if I had been for a covid test...... 🙄 Except I'm still in the time period where you cannot have a PCR test!

When I told her this along with the time I had the fever she stated oh well we better get a blood test..... The same thing I have been requesting for weeks and ended up paying privately for because they told me it wasn't necessary!!!!

The Greens need to rename themselves as they now appear to be a one issue party.

Maybe the next game is to rename the Green party with a suitable name?

I'll start of with just The Fuds but i'll put my thinking cap on...

Oh dear, what a shame. Good on JC though. Haven't really followed that case (she was arrested for something twittery but no one would tell her what?) but I'll have a look into it now.

Oh God. That sounds so frustrating. Almost as if having access to a designated, say, clinic, for people with the same kind of symptoms, staffed by medics who are familiar with diagnosis and treatment of these symptoms would be a good idea. You could call it a "long covid clinic" or something. I wonder why no one's thought of something like that. you're welcome to borrow our Edinburgh address if you want

My first instinct was to laugh too, but actually....

Thinking about it now, they are going to push the SNP further down the road of trans people's rights over women's rights. And they didn't seem to need much help getting there in the first place. They need the Greens, so it's a risk.

SNP are already getting stick for women's equality being pushed back because of Covid.

I'll sit back and watch the fun begin.

Dd says some of the people she knows who went to London are now all testing positive for Covid 🤦🏻‍♀️ so glad dd declined to go.

You'd think so @Lockdownbear given that we're half of the electorate. That's not how it feels when the FM stands up in parliament and gives very vocal support to Stonewall in a week where other public sector bodies across the country were sprinting away from their association with it.

That was a very transparent fuck you to women.

Where that's getting her I don't know, but it also can't do her much real harm without any decent opposition.

It was raised again in Scottish Parliament a few weeks ago only to be told "conducting research"........

Well that's going to take several years and there is an estimated 85,000 people in Scotland with long covid!

Its the basics which really piss me off like having to find out that magnesium, vit b complex and high strength vit D do help a bit with the fatigue...... My Dr could have suggested this weeks ago instead it was actually recommended to me by another long covid sufferer! GPs don't have the time or capacity to deal with long covid.

Oh dear. Sounds like she dodged a bullet there. But it won't be anything to do with the football. We just can't imagine what may have caused it

Yy about the opposition. But I think it's one of those issues that "normal people" don't seem to have picked up as an issue, though. Stonewall is there to fight for rights of minorities (good) and transpeople are a minority and transphobia is bad - all of which are true. So I don't think NS is really losing anything by supporting stonewall in the eyes of "the electorate" - including women. People just don't seem to see that there is any conflict between trans and women's rights. And the few women who are making a fuss are just a bit unkind and should let transwomen use whatever toilet they want. There is no real harm to women as a whole from treating transpeople in the way they are asking to be treated, so why wouldn't you??

I've only recently started to think there was anything more to it, tbh, and I consider myself relatively familiar with opposing sides of various debates, even if I come down on one or the other. So I just don't think it's really cut through beyond "we need to give minorities more of whatever it is they're asking, to even the playing field. Or else it's discriminatory and unfair, and we don't want that". Without thinking that by doing that they are (albeit unintentionally) actually scraping away at the rights of others.

Yes, I get that a lot of people think that being kind to trans people is the 21st version of making homophobia unacceptable in polite society.

It really isn't though, and the more people that wake up the better.

I forget that a lot of people aren't aware enough, I spend half my bloody life tweeting about it since hitting peak trans about 18 months ago.

It's so weird that the Scottish greens have dominant and divisive positions on things that aren't primarily about the environment - independence and trans rights. I'd love to be able to vote for a Green Party that focused squarely on green priorities and tried to build a broad coalition dd their primary purpose.

I don't think most people do care - the last Scottish parliament election showed that.

I think there's a decent core of people who will vote SNP no matter what until independence. I was one of them until the last six months, with the Hate Crime Bill, Humza Yousaf being quite unable to say how many sexes there are, etc.

I've always been far more pro-indy than pro-SNP, and they're unfortunately the only game in town if you want independence. (apparently, I think they've gone off the notion themselves to be honest).

People have no idea of the agenda being pushed though, @riverrunning, on the gender/sex stuff. It wasn’t mentioned in the election literature.

I do think the tide is turning and that most ordinary people are shocked when they find out what’s been going on.

It was on the STV news regarding Trans and JC got a mention as well. The more it’s getting out to all Media and people are seeing it, it can only be difficult for Scotgov to justify their stance on this.
Be interesting watching this unfold.
