Haudyourwheesht · 18/06/2021 23:48

I'm just thinking we may have to get the beers in for Tuesday. It's nearly the end of term, anyway.. Grin

ssd · 19/06/2021 07:34

Oh god is it on again on Tuesday? I'll need to arrange another night out. Or there's always asda...

runningpink · 19/06/2021 08:21

Can I rail about vaccine appointments again.

Called the helpline, can’t fault the guy he was really nice but no appointments available for me to swap too apart from on the day I currently have which isn’t suitable due to the location. (2.5 hour round trip including time at vaccine centre)

Not sure what I’m going to do. Keep checking the website I guess but if nothing becomes available then what.

I need to plan ahead, last minute isn’t practical especially during the school holidays.

WouldBeGood · 19/06/2021 09:03

That’s rubbish @runningpink.

Hope everyone (and their DC) had a nice time on their outings last night

OP posts:
LizzieMacQueen · 19/06/2021 09:34

Which health board @runningpink ? ( possibly you already mentioned but this thread is long )

latissimusdorsi · 19/06/2021 09:52

Keep trying @runningpink
New slots gets released. My colleague had to try for several days and then suddenly plenty of choice available

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 19/06/2021 09:58

@runningpink - also keep tuned in to local social media, or maybe even try phoning the vaccine Centre itself. I was trying to get an earlier appointment, nothing available anywhere. When I got it done, they told me there had been a drop-in session 2 days prior, which wasn't mentioned Confused. There had been a huge queue apparently - no idea how everyone else found out!

runningpink · 19/06/2021 12:37

I’m in the borders area @LizzieMacQueen

I will keep trying, just annoying that’s it’s so difficult.
The guy said often people cancel/rearrange nearer the time so I will need to wait and see I guess.

Hope everyone has some nice plans this weekend and not too many sore heads from the football.

Just been a run followed by cuppa and cake which was nice.

shouldistop · 20/06/2021 11:38

I'm working myself up again about the fact that I'm not allowed to see my 4yo nursery graduation outside and I've to drop him at the school gates to meet his new teacher as I'm not allowed to stay in the playground with him.

Thousands of football fans are allowed to gather though.

RedactedTaeFeck · 20/06/2021 11:47

That's so sad, its the complete lack of empathy, fairness, proportionality etc that does my head in.

I mean really!

I really worry about the effects of this on young kids, passed someone with a little one in a trolly in the supermarket the other day, I'd say maybe about 18/20 months old. It just got me thinking that their normality is to see everyone in masks everywhere.

I know what you mean... I've been getting pangs of sadness and guilt that we weren't allowed to be with our recently turned 5 year old at her end of nursery celebration.

I can't believe the disparity in transition to P1 across our council, and the country as a whole...
We seem to be amongst the very lucky few nurseries/schools to be putting every effort into making it a joyful and non scary experience for the kids.

Although I'm railing at our local authority this week, as I still don't have any info on my youngest's (soon to be 3) nursery place.
I kind of need to notify the private nursery of any changes to days soon, we're getting dangerously close to the notice period, and them not being able to accommodate the days we want as they might have released them to other people.

Sausagema · 20/06/2021 13:06

My wee ones p1 transition has been done virtually. Was meant to include a playground story but had inexplicably been scrapped.

Just need to drop her off in August to a new place she’s never been, in a uniform she’s never worn with many kids she’s never met. At a
Distance of course perhaps by then only throwing them out of the car at 30mph will be permitted.

Lockdownbear · 20/06/2021 13:14

Yet education is meant to be number 1 priority for SNP / Scot Gov.

Your arse it is, they have one priority, waving Scotland flags. That's it.
They don't give a shit about anything or anybody else.

What a start to education, one parent in the playground, no happy pictures before they go in.
Scunnered with it. Really scunnered.

WouldBeGood · 20/06/2021 15:33

It’s really sad, these things with the little ones.

💐to all affected.

And totally nonsensical.

Yep my 2 and a bit year old puts masks on, asks for a mask to go in a shop, points and says mummy/daddy that person isn't wearing a mask (this doesn't come us!), gets scared of even children he knows outside of nursery settings etc etc etc

And he's one of the fortunate ones who has been getting some normality from attending private nursery!

Rae36 · 20/06/2021 16:48

I'm railing today because a p7 class in our school now has to isolate. The last week of their primary school lives snatched away at the last minute.
It's so shit for them, they are devastated. Even though everything that has been planned for them has been with the caveat that it might get cancelled, for it to actually happen this close to the end is just too much.
The family with the positive case are so upset, their kid feels they've ruined it for everyone. But it's not their fault, no-one else is blaming them. How can wee brains possibly process all this? Its so hard. When they're already on the cusp of so much change in their lives.
I've not posted anything here in ages, I've just not been able to face it. But I'm back and railing big-time today.

shouldistop · 20/06/2021 17:05

@Rae36 aww no, thats absolutely rotten. Those poor kids.

Haudyourwheesht · 20/06/2021 17:18

That's just awful @Rae36. It's devastating telling the kids they're to go isolate - they really hate it.

I'm seriously thinking about turning the app off and I'm not going anywhere I have to check in so I make it on my (Scottish) holidays!

Rae36 · 20/06/2021 17:22

There have been so many cases in our local schools recently that every other person I know is keeping their kids off. I'm going to give ds15 the choice, he's feeling quite stressed by people constantly being sent home and wonderingif it's his turn next. It's not worth it for the last week.

WouldBeGood · 20/06/2021 18:11

Oh @Rae36 that’s pants.

DS is angling to stay off this week but I’m torn as he’s becoming a recluse when not in school so it’s one more week of real life contact with his friends.

Went for a nice lunch with him up in Glasgow today. 😊

WouldBeGood · 20/06/2021 18:15

@Haudyourwheesht I now have the check in app but wrong details in it and no one ever actually checks you do it. I’m never close enough for long enough when I’m out to be infected anyway and not risking incarceration.

OP posts:
shouldistop · 20/06/2021 18:38

@WouldBeGood where did you end up going for lunch?

WouldBeGood · 20/06/2021 18:41

I left it too late to book the suggestions - good it’s busy though 😂 But we got a delicious lunch in Santa Lucia in the West End. I think it’s really my favourite spot for chilled Italian. Sadly it’s closing due to lease issues, but their merchant city one is staying open so I’ll need to go there.

DS pronounced it the best pizza he’s ever had 😃

titsintiers · 20/06/2021 18:44

Glad you enjoyed it @WouldBeGood

Sorry about your P7 @Rae36, what a shite end to primary school 😢
