The SNP also hold the purse strings to the entire Scottish Government budget. Am I being foolish to think that this might be of concern, and to wonder why it is not front page news in the Scottish press?

It’s on bbc but only fourth in the Scottish regional page Confused

Who is the auditor?

dementedma · 30/05/2021 17:40

Yet more stink coming from SNP. No doubt it will be covered up

MaMelon · 30/05/2021 17:47

Nicola will be marching down the corridor in her peerie heels any minute to deny any wrongdoing as per.

forfucksakenett · 30/05/2021 17:49

@MaMelon

Nicola will be marching down the corridor in her peerie heels any minute to deny any wrongdoing as per.
What's her heels got to do with it?
GrandPrismatic · 30/05/2021 18:13

So I’m intrigued about the audit situation...per Swinney, “the party’s accounts are audited by external auditors”...but it doesn’t say who. It looks like it is Audit Scotland...who are appointed by the auditor general who in turn is appointed by the crown on the recommendation of the Scottish Parliament Confused
Is that really independent external audit? It’s more like internal audit at best.

MaMelon · 30/05/2021 18:16

About as much as her denials fuck

MaMelon · 30/05/2021 18:20

Auditors were listed as Johnson Carmichael in their 2019 accounts but not sure if they’re still the auditors - would need to do a bit more digging.

GrandPrismatic · 30/05/2021 18:39

Ah yes you are right...I see the 2019 accounts which weren’t published until October 2020 so 2020 accounts haven’t been published yet. So is the furore over the 600k from the 2019 or 2020 accounts? If 2020 accounts, then they haven’t been subject to external audit as the report is not yet finalised or published.
I bet Johnson Carmichael (if it is still them) are feeling the pressure!

MaMelon · 30/05/2021 19:08

I think it’s 2020 but could be wrong. Either way it’ll be more of the same - ‘it wisnae us, the Tories are worse’.

WouldBeGood · 30/05/2021 21:54

I just came on to post about this.

What is going on with the finances?

Why are they being kept secret from the people tasked to administer their accounts?

Where is the missing £600,000?

MiladyBerserko · 31/05/2021 00:04

Who can say? They are 'weaved' into to the accounts i think was was the quote from Murrell.

Access to the double entry accounts would be interesting. I wonder if this is what the Treasurer was denied access to?

Joanna Cherry quit the NEC today too. Lack of transparency.

Ianrankinfan · 31/05/2021 21:32

Joanna Cherry saying

“ A number of factors have prevented me from fulfilling the mandate party members gave me to improve transparency and scrutiny and to uphold the party’s constitution. I won’t be making any further comment at this stage. “

I wonder if we will eventually find out what is really going on within the SNP National executive Committee.

WouldBeGood · 31/05/2021 21:36

I really don’t get why there’s not more public outcry about this? Or press coverage?

Ianrankinfan · 31/05/2021 22:06

I agree with this .

And yet SNP supporters assert that MSM is anti SNP Hmm
WouldBeGood · 31/05/2021 22:51

Yes, and even this thread has little traffic.

It’s just weird.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 31/05/2021 23:01

I daydream of Cherry, Lamont, Duffield, McAlpine, Walker and Nicholsonallsetting up a political party.

Wouldn't even need to be about women's issues. It'd just be all very sensible.

WouldBeGood · 31/05/2021 23:11

That would do me @vivariumvivariumsvivaria

GrandPrismatic · 01/06/2021 05:48

I think it is the sheer volume of misbehaviour by the SNP that people don’t care anymore. SNPs default deflection route for everything of “well Boris is worse” works remarkably well for them.

Sad times indeed.

Jumpingintosummer · 01/06/2021 06:08

Genuinely first I have heard of this here. News story buried over a bank holiday weekend Hmm

WouldBeGood · 01/06/2021 06:29

It’s particularly bad in my view as the £600k was raised in part by donations from members of the public. Not all big business or cronies.

It probably is corruption fatigue.

RedactedTaeFeck · 01/06/2021 08:03

It was known prior to the election and reported to the police.

I'm still waiting for the education report to be published, probably waiting for the Queen to die.

WouldBeGood · 01/06/2021 08:16

Joanna Cherry now getting more flak from the Party.

There be better employed asking where the money is and why the officials keep resigning over it.

Ianrankinfan · 01/06/2021 08:48

Here’s an article about all 3 recent SNP resignations.
