@Icannever I actually think that things like that are the most soul destroying. A little bit of hope of normality and fun, but then the fear of it not happening.
@ResilienceWanker it might be worth calling them if you haven't heard in a few days and there have been instances where letters have arrived on the day!

You can adjust the time of your appointment via the online system but you need your username which is on the letter!
Yes, DH thinks I should give it a week or so and then call. Assuming each "decade" of people will have a month to get jabbed to meet the July deadline, there's another couple of weeks of May, and I'm in the lower half of the 40s just I should definitely have heard by next week, to have a few days notice. I just like to know, so I can plan timings/ travel around it. I get twitchy having things sprung on me at the last minute.

On the plus side, I've just put some prosecco in the fridge to try that gin thing tonight.

Fingers crossed for Glasgow and Moray. I just can't see how local lockdown will work, though, especially purely on the basis of cases. Of course cases will spread more widely with that approach, rather than being contained within the local area. They need to break the reliance on case numbers, I think.

Icannever · 14/05/2021 15:16

@WouldBeGood I know, my stomachs in knots thinking how I’d explain to my 8 year old we’re not off to a nice house with a swimming pool (which we can afford by taking him out of school 😀) and a day out to Alton towers. Instead he can have a normal week of school 😱
Really hoping boris stays true to form and doesn’t lock anything down for a bit longer, at least another couple of weeks

ResilienceWanker · 14/05/2021 15:21

@Icannever

Can I have a rant that we’ve booked to go on holiday next Friday pretty near the biggest outbreak in England (Erewash) and boris Johnston is refusing to rule out localised lockdowns and is making an announcement tonight at 5. I know there are bigger problems than my wee holiday but I’m really looking forward to it
Oh God. I really wish they'd stop with these Swords of Doom hanging over people's plans. Of course it's not the biggest thing, but it's totally reasonable for you to make plans and look forward to it, and it will be so disappointing if it's cut off. What an Arse. I worry it's going to be like that all over the summer... You hope for a bit of normality but everyone's on edge thinking it might be taken away at the last minute...
riverrunning · 14/05/2021 15:30

icannever that totally sucks. I've not booked anything except a highly likely to fall through eu holiday and decided that I'm going to book something last minute as it's soooo stressful getting your hopes up and the will you be able to go/won't you be able to; esp when kids involved.

Icannever · 14/05/2021 16:03

Now my boys just come home from school and said one of the girls in his class is off as her dad has coronavirus 😬. Is our holiday doomed. If it turns out the girl has it, he’d need to self isolate wouldn’t he? @riverrunning this was fairly last minute, I had just got to the stage of feeling positive enough to book something 😭

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 16:05

No, he wouldn’t need to self isolate unless a close contact.

Glasgow & Moray in tier 3 for another week? More details to come BBC News flash. Bugger.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 14/05/2021 16:42

How can they condone and applaud yesterday's protest and then say but actually you can stay in level 3.

Tomorrow the rangers fans are going to swarm glasgow. I actually don't know which way this will go. All those businesses it's so heartbreaking loosing more and more money

Scottishskifun · 14/05/2021 16:48

Urghh sorry Glasgow peeps!

Suggest booking a trip to England for some escapism!

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 16:51

Those poor poor businesses

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 14/05/2021 16:51

@StarryEyeSurprise

They are doing the same. Most of Glasgow has low rates and Glasgow as a whole has a lower rate than Moray ( going by the 7 day rate).

There are small pockets of higher cases

( Pollockshields / Govanhill area). Over 18s are being offered vaccines here.

Thanks - I'll chill out and stop rantingSmile
Haudyourwheesht · 14/05/2021 16:51

We're not allowed to leave Glasgow again. I'm so fucking gutted. 7 months we've been in these restrictions.

Icannever · 14/05/2021 16:55

Gutted for all of you in Glasgow. It’s just come out of nowhere aswell. Really doesn’t do mental health much good does it. The uncertainty of life just now really sucks

Lockdownbear · 14/05/2021 16:56

When was the girl last in school? I'm assuming yesterday so he's already a day in to the 10 day period.

If she tests positive you 10 days would end next Monday I think.

tiredoftiers · 14/05/2021 17:04

what are the rules regarding travel out of a level 3 area, I can't find them anywhere.

It's totally gutting especially given Glasgows low percentage of vaccinated population, surely focus should be ensuring equity of delivery of immunisations throughout Scotland. If a 45 year old with no underlying health conditions cannot get a vaccine in Glasgow then should we be vaccinating 39 year olds with no health conditions in Aberdeenshire?

What is the step limiting factor in immunisations, is it supply or is it delivery. If its delivery then there's an army of nurses who would be happy to take on the extra shifts to ensure vaccine delivery.

Coquohvan · 14/05/2021 17:15

Same as now I’d think, as we are in level 3 ATM (mainland) and travel was allowed from 26/4.
Unless .........

StarryEyeSurprise · 14/05/2021 17:22

@Lockdown I do understand your frustration!

It's what's assigned to each health board but now down the higher numbers of vaccine supply needed. It's also the storage capability of Pfizer and moderna which is - 70 and - 25 respectively so not all vaccination centres can do it so your also limited on capacity of the centres which have the capability.

They can't redirect all vaccines to Glasgow from the rest of the country as they then fall behind in timescale and it goes on longer.
Hopefully they will speed up in Glasgow do more Sunday appointments, later into the evening etc. But a lot of it would have been made quicker if they did a bloody online system for set up in the first place rather than the letters!

riverrunning · 14/05/2021 17:40

Ooof. Poor glasgow.

Scottishskifun · 14/05/2021 17:41

@Icannever your still good for your holiday by the sounds of Borris!
Accelerated vaccine programme but asking people to get vaccinated and use the rapid tests!

Well, no, they wouldn't just change the rules would they, because we know at the moment we are in level 3 and allowed to leave to go to England. They wouldn't just randomly change them back so no one's allowed to leave or enter a level 3 area again, like level 3 was in November/ December would they...

Do we know if new rules ( re Glasgow) are from now or Monday please?

Scottishskifun · 14/05/2021 17:48

@StarryEyeSurprise

Glasgow (and Scotland) is still in tier 3.

On Monday everywhere bar Glasgow and Moray go to level two so inside private mixing, hugs and inside alcohol. Moray and Glasgow on Monday no hugs no inside drinking no private indoor mixing.

StarryEyeSurprise · 14/05/2021 17:54

Ok thank you
