Anyone tried any of those hard seltzer things? Just wondering what they are like but too mean to buy one if I don't think I'd like it. 😊

ssd · 13/05/2021 19:59

Ive never heard of hard seltzer, only alki seltzers Grin

ssd · 13/05/2021 20:00

@ScotlandUnited

Increase in cases in Glasgow is concerning. Will Glasgow stay in / return to tier 3?
I think we will go into tier 3 here and folk will go bloody mental. We've had enough in Glasgow.
ssd · 13/05/2021 20:03

@Groovee

The unpaid carer route is now closed. Very few of my school colleagues have had theirs yet.

I need to breathe!

TBH i know of folk taking the piss with that, i mean young folk

Tried them in America a few years back. Kind of like a less sickly alcopop , quite refreshing. If you're partial to a Rekorderlig you might like them. Quite refreshing.

I always turn up when booze is mentioned. I do love talking about and learning about new drinks.

WouldBeGood · 13/05/2021 20:09

There is absolutely no cause for concern as the vaccines work, the vulnerable are vaccinated, and hardly anyone is in hospital.

I am absolutely sick of the continued scaremongering. It’s messing with people’s heads too much.

Judging by Glasgow Live today people are sick of it all and there is not a public appetite for more lockdown.

It better not bloody happen or I will be running amok protesting, or sectioned

Sounds like they might be my thing @lidlfix. I'll add a couple into my shopping basket for my groceries this week.

I dont think they know how effective the vaccines are on the Indian varient. I heard on ch4 news there that they've found people fully vaccinated had caught covid. Of course the main issue is if it increases hospital admissions. They should have kept the bloody borders shut.

WouldBeGood · 13/05/2021 20:14

@Lidlfix DP made these Asian Pear Martinis recently:

Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur, vodka, peat juice, and some syrup from a jar of stem ginger.

Hard seltzer is ok but it needs a shot of gin or vodka to give it a bit of a kick

WouldBeGood · 13/05/2021 20:17

There is no evidence the vaccines are not effective against the Indian variant.

Of course vaccines are not 100% effective and never will be, but the media chasing round finding scare stories and highly unusual incidences is not helpful.

We cannot stay locked up in the fear of possible variants. Life needs to go on. We are so fortunate to have these vaccines, let’s crack on now.

There is good evidence the mRNA vaccines work well against the Indian variant. Astra Zeneca, it looks less convincing but no concrete evidence yet.

Trouble is, there's no evidence either way.

latissimusdorsi · 13/05/2021 20:29

If you get sectioned for running amok @WouldBeGood, just make sure you're sent to the Mumsnet sanatoriumSmile

WouldBeGood · 13/05/2021 20:31

Good point @latissimusdorsi 😃

None of my teaching colleagues have been done. Most are under 40 mind, but nowhere near all teachers have been done.

Haudyourwheesht · 13/05/2021 20:35

Surely this is evidence that the vaccines are working.

I don't really drink anymore, I think I could get merry on no alcohol cider nowadays :)
titsintiers · 13/05/2021 20:58

In that case you'll love them @RedactedTaeFeck I'm just a lush

ResilienceWanker · 13/05/2021 21:02

Ha! I was going to say it isn't 100% unlike alcoholic irn bru.

I've recovered the feeling in my toes now I'm back home at least.

Am totally not OK with the fact that people born in 2000 are fully functioning adults.

I'm totally bemused about the vaccine progress. I know Edinburgh (and Glasgow) has a "younger" population, but we do seem to be so far behind, and I'm not aware of any bin lists, either (though there may well be.. there's much I'm not aware of). DH was jabbed yesterday and he's nearly 46, so things are moving forward, but it seems so slow. I'm 44 and not heard anything and I'm worried I won't be able to make any appointment anyway given you have no say over location or timing. Also worrying if they are falling behind on the second doses. That's not good groovee.

WouldBeGood · 13/05/2021 21:19

Weirdly, but pleasingly, the sauna and steam room
At my gym are open

Re workplaces, I know my school is covering anyone for their vaccine, regardless of when it is.

LizzieMacQueen · 13/05/2021 22:15

My drink of choice, if you're taking orders, is the Edinburgh liqueur gin, rhubarb and ginger, topped up with Prosecco. 🍸
