runningpink · 08/04/2021 20:48

Thanks @riverrunning will hopefully be able to drop them off when I can escape my council area!

Great news @DeepfriedPizza

@Scottishskifun you really have had a rough time of it. Please take it easy and don’t try and do too much too quickly

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 08/04/2021 21:25

Excellent news, Groovee! Things are looking up.

WouldBeGood · 08/04/2021 22:38

Thanks yes I have major mum guilt kicking in as I feel OK in bed with a bit of a headache but out of bed after an hour or so I feel horrendous and have to go lie down.

My DH is being fantastic and taking care of our toddler and I try to help when I feel up to it but it's a bit of a catch 22!

I'm trying not to push it too much.

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 09:26

@Scottishskifun when ds1 was about 18 months I was incapacitated with a pretty serious injury for months. I couldn't look after him at all, it was awful and I felt so guilty. The only thing I could do was about 30 minutes before his nap time, he came into bed with me and I read him stories then he would have his nap in bed with me. (He was only happy to sit for stories at that age when he was getting tired).
Maybe worth trying? It wasn't much but it helped dh / mil / dm out a bit and gave me and ds1 a wee chance for a cuddle.

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 09:26

Sorry if I sounded a bit parent clubby Grin

Scottishskifun · 09/04/2021 09:30

@shouldistop thanks will give it a go he's a bit of a whirlwind but does love books. He "makes mummy soup" in his play kitchen and comes and feeds me just feel bad for not helping out or playing more!

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 09:32

@Scottishskifun better that you recover fully now than try to stretch yourself and it drag on for longer Thanks

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 09/04/2021 10:08

I agree, Ski. Better to recover properly now, than have a relapse later and need to recover all over again. Flowers

Scottishskifun · 09/04/2021 11:32

Thanks ladies yes I know its for the best to recover fully just getting frustrated with it all. Each time I think I'm feeling better it kicks me in the bum!

My manager has been fantastic and told me the same as you guys as well which is one stress off!

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 12:00

Jet2 just emailed to cancel our holiday in Portugal. I knew it would happen but still disappointed, second year in a row same holiday cancelled.
Next summer will be far more expensive as we'll be stuck with school holidays and it won't be long before ds2 will be full price.

Scottishskifun · 09/04/2021 12:05

How frustrating can you book it for later in the year instead?

We have found jet2 to be fantastic with automatic refunds it did take a few weeks longer (think each time it was a month) but didn't have to call or anything they just refunded us automatically.
In comparison we spent 5 months trying to get a package ski holiday money back and ended up going through the credit card company.

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 12:07

I know, I can't fault Jet2 really. They've been great both times.
We're just going to go ahead with our Cornwall holiday as we know that will definitely happen.

Lockdownbear · 09/04/2021 12:32

We had a holiday booked last year that was a nightmare to get the money back from. DH threatened to go to credit card company, the money was back in his account within days.

riverrunning · 09/04/2021 13:15

I had a wonderful jet2 holiday to Madeira - recommend that to anyone wanting to rid another rebook.

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 13:17

We went to Cyprus with Jet2 and it was great, love their in resort check in they do

Haudyourwheesht · 09/04/2021 15:36

It just occurred to me that DD will be 5 next year so we'll be in the same boat. Then I remembered that I'm a teacher, so we are anyway. Hmm

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 15:49

@Haudyourwheesht Grin does she start school this year or next?

RedactedTaeFeck · 09/04/2021 15:58

We took the boys to the USA before DS1 started school, it was still mostly in the holidays at Easter. They did a thing at primary at that time about "The summer before i started school". Obviously DS1s was quite exciting with pictures of Boston and various Naval facilities (We stayed with DHs sister and family and her DH was a colonel in the Marines).

His wee booklet was quite impressive but we've never made it back over there yet :)

They stopped doing it the following year which was lucky as I am sure DS2 didn't have as impressive a holiday Grin

WouldBeGood · 09/04/2021 17:23

I’ve had a good day. As it’s sunny I took a (very) scenic route to pick ds up from his dad’s. It was a lovely drive. Stopped for soup from a wee cafe. Almost a normal day.

OP posts:
shouldistop · 09/04/2021 17:30

@WouldBeGood that sounds really nice.

It's been lovely and sunny but I didn't do anything today. Had an argument with dh last night over something and nothing but we didn't make up properly before bed so I just felt a bit flat today. We're ok now though and he's away to the shops to buy me a couple of bottles of beer. I think I'm just finding it hard that I don't have any time to myself at all just now. Not even an hour. I've asked dh to work out something so I can have maybe an hour a couple of times a week without the kids in the house.

WouldBeGood · 09/04/2021 17:37

@shouldistop that sounds so hard. Good idea though- get an hour or two set in stone a couple of times a week and stick to it. Yesterday I just went to a local garden centre and got soup to eat in my car, gazing at the rain, but at least it felt like getting out! Music in car, it’s good. What do you fancy doing?

OP posts:
shouldistop · 09/04/2021 17:41

Honestly, I'm not too sure what I'd do probably housework. It would be nice to read a book or have a long bath. Or just not have a baby attached to my boob or screeching at me or my 4yo saying "mummy" on repeat. I love them really Grin
I'd really, really love to go to a pub with a fire and live music with DH but even in normal times it would be a while before we left baby ds so that's a dream for next year.
