Just in case railing remains required.

What about an hour of child free housework followed by a bath and a book!

Baby ds would probably have to have a bottle of he was away longer than an hour but it might be worth expressing for Grin

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 17:53

Away longer than 2 hours *

WouldBeGood · 09/04/2021 17:54

Oh for the love of god!

Mr G got his drain tangled and pulled it out. I've dropped him off to surgical obs. He's waiting on the surgeon. Blooming GP's receptionist asked him when he phoned for advice "is it really urgent?" Then put him on to the GP who promptly phoned the hospital and phoned to say get up there ASAP!

Do a waiting game again 🤦🏻‍♀️

Scottishskifun · 09/04/2021 19:12

Oh no! Hope he is OK @groovee

WouldBeGood · 09/04/2021 19:16

Oh no @Groovee!! Honestly, you’re really due some peace. Hope it’s sorted soon and he’s ok 💐

I should probably eat some dinner but can't be bothered. So blooming tired.

WouldBeGood · 09/04/2021 19:35

Have toast @Groovee. Always good

Oh crikey groovee. Nothing goes smoothly does it?! Fingers crossed he's seen quickly and you can eat something...

And a pub with a fire sounds amaaaazing shouldistop. Not that we went that much, but it's the kind of thing I didn't ever realise i'd have the experience of having to miss iyswim. And DS is sufficiently old that he'd sit nicely and talk over an apple juice and ice cream while we had a glass of wine without us having to nag him or entertain him constantly so he doesn't kick off. Looking forward to Sunday lunches out again Sad

Haudyourwheesht · 09/04/2021 20:04

@shouldistop Next. So that's us.

Groovee · 09/04/2021 20:05

I've never experienced a rollercoaster like the last 20 weeks. We're normally a pretty drama free family 😂

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 20:08

@Haudyourwheesht I'm so nervous about ds starting this year, feel sad he isn't getting the visits to the school etc and I'll just be expected to leave him there on his first day, full time right from the start.
We're working on doing buttons and zips ready for school. I don't think he's going to like school lunches much but I want him to have a good try before I cave and give him packed lunches.

Haudyourwheesht · 09/04/2021 20:32

DD is going to nursery full time so I'm hoping she'll adapt ok. But it's a private nursery so she's unlikely to know anyone in her primary school. It's such a worry!

RedactedTaeFeck · 09/04/2021 20:37

DS1 went for school lunch for the first week. His appraisal? "Mum. it sounds like it will be tasty....but it just isn't..." 13 years of packed lunch ensued. He then warned off DS2 from even trying, so he was a another packed lunch boy.

WouldBeGood · 09/04/2021 20:39

I just told mine they were having school lunch 😂

I'm just a sap. This is why my fussy children became fussy adults.
riverrunning · 09/04/2021 20:41

Embarrassingly my kids loved school dinners, I don't think this says a lot about my cooking!

grovee what a rough end to the week Daffodil

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 20:44

School lunches would be so much easier, he's only at nursery 2.5 days so it's ok making a couple of packed lunches but the only sandwich he'll eat is peanut butter and jam which you obviously can't send in so I would run out of ideas for 5 lunches!
My mum helpfully said the other day "you know, they're not likely to give him sliced plum tomatoes and pasta salad for his lunch" HmmBlush

Haudyourwheesht · 09/04/2021 20:45

I hated making packed lunch for nursery and was so glad when they started to be included. All the cutting of fruit and choosing interesting healthy snacks (so the teachers won't judge you). I'll be gutted if DD won't eat school dinners.

WouldBeGood · 09/04/2021 20:47

They’ll eat it if there’s no choice. No way I was making packed lunches especially when the dinners are free- I was really skint when they were young

OP posts:
RedactedTaeFeck · 09/04/2021 20:47

I think it's that schools don't always have their own kitchens and food arrives overcooked or cold and if they are on later lunch slots then it can end up being a bizarre mixture and often not enough for the older kids.

DS1 likes his pasta al dente (not stuck together mush) and likes the sauce blended...I created a monster! Grin

RedactedTaeFeck · 09/04/2021 20:49

Mine are like I was, given no choice, they will choose not to eat. As a child I could go days without a proper meal.

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 20:51

I reckon mine would maybe pick at some bits then ask for a second helping of dinner. Lunches were meant to be included at nursery from august but it was cancelled with the pandemic and never mentioned again, along with the extra hours of nursery he was meant to get.

WouldBeGood · 09/04/2021 20:51

😂😂 I wasn’t fussed if they didn’t eat lunch.
