Just in case railing remains required.

iirc 200 is the normal running level but they had surge capacity way beyond that in the first wave even without the Louisa Jordan-turned out it wasn't needed as this was the same time they were all scrabbling for ventilators which they now try to avoid as far as possible.

frasersmummy · 30/03/2021 14:10

Are schools going back full time after Easter is that set in stone now ??

UnderHisAye · 30/03/2021 14:15

It'll be confirmed next week @frasersmummy after some sort of meeting of an education committee or something next Monday.

I think they'd massively struggle to justify doing it, given that England has and numbers haven't spiralled.

ssd · 30/03/2021 15:51

They need to get the kids back.

Im the most cautious person going and i think the kids need to be back.

Mental Health must be a priority. They've lost enough.

And get all school staff vaccinated too.

LookAChicken · 30/03/2021 15:56

Agreed.

My nephews secondary school in England is testing twice a week majority of pupils have been complying (all ages not just the younger ones) and have been family testing. They also wear masks all day except for PE, eating and outside.

I know they were due to start testing secondary pupils in Scotland but not sure if its as set?
All the kids also had to produce negative tests for returning to the school in the first place and will have to do the same after the holidays.

UnderHisAye · 30/03/2021 16:33

I've just googled it and it does say on the ScotGov website "All school staff and secondary aged learners are encouraged to participate in the asymptomatic testing programme." So I guess there's plans.

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2021 16:40

The test kits are offered to all secondary pupils.

I read that one in one thousand is positive.

I don't think that can be entirely accurate, as testing isn't compulsory (here or in England). Several dc at dd's primary tested positive last week, haven't heard about any at the secondary though they are still low numbers in.

😂 Well I do get my info from a 15 year old boy but that is what he told me negative test or they should isolate where possible at home. But yes how accurate it is from a teenager is a different matter!

I think at his school the vast majority are testing as it's also in a area of low covid numbers.

Social media full of sunny back garden meet ups with a set of parents or friends in England today. That’s because there’s no restrictions on how far you can travel to see those most important to you and it’s more than 20 degrees. Here, we’re stuck in some 1950s pretendy world where your parents and grandparents all live on the same street or just round the corner.
That is my main rail today- just this arbitrary council boundary rule being ‘telt’ to us again today. I’m sorry for anyone who is too scared to travel beyond boundaries, for fear of a fine or breaking some rule that can be broken by politicians for electioneering .
But why should you be able to see your hairdresser before your DPs and/or those you are closest to in life?
Ask yourself why it’s ok to sit in your garden with some random neighbours, with whom all you might have in common is that the same council tax payment leaves your bank account🤷‍♀️

shouldistop · 30/03/2021 17:43

I don't know anyone paying attention to the outdoor restrictions now.
I've booked 3 outdoor attractions over April that are miles away. Can't wait.

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2021 17:57

I want to go to Jupiter art land with DS

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 30/03/2021 17:58

And the school testing is not compulsory.

I’m not giving permission for DS to test.

One in one thousand is reckoned to be the false positive rate so England have changed the guidance again to say all LF positives to be double checked by PCR. Can only hope the PCR Lab is in better shaped than Panorama last night.

Same here, but still many people ‘afraid’ of rule breaking including posters on here and today’s message just reaffirmed the threat of a fine. It didn’t need to be said again or even remain in place.
Haudyourwheesht · 30/03/2021 19:28

I don't think people are necessarily 'afraid' of rule breaking, I think people believe that the rules are in place for sound reasons and are following them accordingly, which it is their choice to do.

I'm not booking anything out of area as the kids would be gutted if we got there and they did do a random address check and turned us away. Any out of area things we've done have been more walking in secluded areas type things.

rookiemere · 30/03/2021 19:40

I'm following the rules (mostly) because I don't want a bloody fine, no other reason.
I cannot see why driving, parking the car and walking the dog on Blackness beach carries any more risk than doing it at Cramond. A little bit of relaxation for Easter would have had great mental benefits for people and if indoor things still remain shut, I don't really see how it would significantly increase infections.

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2021 19:42

It wouldn’t @rookiemere. That’s why I make my own judgment.

It’s now gone far too far and I plan to challenge any fine I’m given (though I won’t be)

OP posts:
rookiemere · 30/03/2021 20:10

You probably would get a fine at Blackness to be fair @WouldBeGood . Locals protested about people coming and parking to eat at the renovated pub there The Lobster Pot to the extent I don't know if it will reopen, so I can imagine the residents ringing up to report non local cars with alacrity.

WouldBeGood · 30/03/2021 20:12

I really doubt it. Just can’t see polis doing this. But I don’t care anyway now

OP posts:
Mistressofmany · 30/03/2021 20:42

Shouldistop (or anyone else) what kind of outdoor attractions will be open up over Easter? I need to plan something!

shouldistop · 30/03/2021 21:09

Just off the top of my head;

Blairdrummond safari park
Heads of Ayr Farm Park
Clyde valley farm park
5 sisters Zoo
Edinburgh Zoo

ssd · 30/03/2021 21:20

Kelburn country Park

Mistressofmany · 30/03/2021 22:01

Thank you both - food for thought!
